Help With Defet Notice In Nsw
mid life crisis replied to wizlb's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
my son got defected a few weeks ago for a pod filter and fmic this is in sa. was told we needed a full inspection at regency . i rang regency and told them what we got done for his reply was and i quote a pod filter is not a defect if it is mounted with a bracket it does not need to be covered in . the front mount is not a defect and he told us to take it too the local police station and give him a ring at regency he will tell the police neither are defectable items and to clear the defect . we went to the police station the copper rang they guy at regency 5 mins later we are driving away without the defect had to pay a 29 buck fee for the copper to clear the defect . we dodged a bullet this time lol as car had other things that would have been picked on if it went over the pits true story cheers dean -
My Shock Absorbers Are Stuffed!
mid life crisis replied to MissR34's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
kyb shocks are great value for money bilsteins are fantastic but think about what ya use ya car for ? if it never see'e the track kybs will be fine . if ya think ya going to do track work then get something better . most people cant tell if they have working shocks let alone a stuffed one we see this all the time in the workshop where i work. why spend a shitload of money if ya not really going to get the full benifet from it . ps if ya need the part numbers for kyb let me know i will look it up at work for ya .i just got a complete set for my sons r33 -
Overheating Problem Need Help Pls
mid life crisis replied to Jsikalias's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ive actually got the exact same prob at the moment water pump is less than 5000ks old changed it when i dit the timing belt ect ect . my car has never overheated at all or even come close in the time ive owned it i run good coolent . the other day 40+ in adelaide going up the hills first thing the aircon cut out ive since found if ya car is getting to hot the ecu cuts the air con r33. temp gauge went to 3/4 and i pulled over water was pissing out the overflow tank onto the ground we let it cool down and started the car and topped up the water turned around and headed home as it was now going down the hills and hardly any load the needle went back to half and the air con was ok again . next day thought i would take it thru the hills closer to home and the same thing happened again normal driving even in the hot weather with the air con on its fine its only when ya hit the hills i have trouble. will put in a new themrostat this week and a new cap and see how that goes . the rad looks very clean as far as you can see but will get it cleaned out if the thermostat and cap dont help . let me know what fixers yours if ya find the prob cheers dean -
This Is Getting Ridiculous And Expensive
mid life crisis replied to B0oStEr's topic in General Maintenance
so i wasent that far off the mark hey :-) a dail gauge indicator is ya friend lol -
i filled our car yesterday to the first click of the pump and headed out for a drive . i was 40 deg in adelaide yesterday and we had been driving for about a hr and was heading home when i could smell fuel vapours in the cab of the car. car also seemed to be running really rich as well when i got it home i undid the fuel cap and there was so much pressure in the tank it actually blew the cap out of my hand and the vapour that was comming out of the tank was very hot . i come to the conclusion that the pressure in the tank must have been forcing more fuel thru the injectors under so much pressure hence the running rich and fuel smell. also the petrol gauge was reading wrong when driving but when i realeased the cap it went back to where it should be reading. so im guessing the fuel cap is not venting properly and not realsing pressure like it should be . anyone else struck this prob b4 cheers dean

Kyb Double Gas Shocks And Fitment
mid life crisis replied to Adz2332's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
basically yes . and if ya using spring compressors from sprits or super cheap be carefull that they dont slip and the spring comes out at a million miles a hr . we have a big floor mounted spring compressor at work takes only a couple of mins each to do a strut :-) -
i had exactly the same thing on a nissan patrol i put it down to rough off road driving . i have seen it on hi powered holden v8 monaros hq type caused by the body flexing under heavy load . i had a friend who was a panel beater reweld and repaint nine on the patrol that fixed it for good could also be the result of a bad repair job if the car has been in a prang and they have welded a new roof on:-(

r33 auto pod filter fmic 3 1/2 exaust 508 ks so far still waiting for the light to come on . mixture of country drive gawler to victor and back and the rest city driving . im rapt so far a update i gave in and filled the car at 520 ks cause i thought if the fuel light dosent work im going to get stuck on the side of the road lol . but surprisingly it only took 52 litres to do 520 ks so there was about 10 litres of fuel left in the tank so that works out at 10 litre per hundred ks that was a 200ks of country driving with a bit of boost in the overtaking lanes and the rest surban driving im pretty happy with that :-)

according to this the sr was a all alloy motor Released in October 1989 (for the 1990 model year), the U12 Bluebird SSS ATTESA Limited debuted Nissan’s new all-alloy, twin-cam 16-valve in-line four with a turbocharger hung off the side. In the U12 SSS, the SR20DET runs an 8.5:1 static compression ratio and its ECCS management system (which uses a hot-wire airflow meter and knock sensor) fires a set of four ignition coils and 370cc injectors. The standard turbocharger is a Garrett-based T25G working with a small top-mount air-to-air intercooler and boost pressure is set to around 7 psi.

Oils - Engine, Gearbox, Which Ones And Where To Get?
mid life crisis replied to Ionos's topic in South Australia
ive used a lot of oils over the yrs and i base my experince on 23 yrs racing experince using diffrent types of fuels altho mainly methanol . just cause its a brand name does not make it the best or suitable for the job your doing with it . there are many oils that dont like methanol for instance and turn into a milkshake after one heat race yet there are less expensive oils that ive done 3 meetings on that are still clear and the motors dont drop oil presure after a 20 lap feature race . the fact skylines are turboed is not the fact why a gtr engine will rev too 9000 revs it would still rev to 9000 without the turbo . the turbo pruduces power not revs . that said you do need a oil that will withstand heat better than others like i said over the yrs racing speedway and some of those cars did run turbo engines i have found that just cause a oil has a expensive price and a so called brand name with lots of advertising hype does mot mean its the best to do the job at hand . it's not just oils either some people seem to think unless the parts you buy have hks or trust or what ever that they are superior to other less known brands on the market . cheers dean -
Oils - Engine, Gearbox, Which Ones And Where To Get?
mid life crisis replied to Ionos's topic in South Australia
i always use a semi synthetic oil in my r33 kind of like best of both worlds and not over the top in price . i always change oil at 5000ks or 6 months what ever comes first . oil always comes out just as clean as it goes in .gauge always shows good oil pressure . at the end of the day there just a motor with a turbo and if just used for street use a think a lot of people get carried away with brand names ect ect and caught up in the marketing hype of some products -
