any one know why my r32 actuator is boosting to 15 pound on my r33?

the car has a fmic / full exaust system 3 inch to cat and 3 1/2 inch from the cat back as its running the stock turbo i did not want to go over 10 pound at the moment it is def on 7 pound . i was under the impression the r32 actuator would give me 10 pound . however for some reason it goes straight to 15 so i put the original one back on and boost has gone back to 7 . i thought if i could get it to run 10 then i could have got away with not running the above equipment you have listed exept maybe the safc .but regardless 15 pound even with all the other stuff you have mentioned the standed turbo would not live long anyway . so my question is now with the r33 actuator and a bleed valve would i be able to set the boost at 10 pound ? if so i will sell the or swap the r32 actuator to get a decent bleed valve i really donr want or need more than 10 pound the car is pretty quick as it is and runs clean i was just after a little more but if its going to cost a arm and a leg i will just leave the car as it is . cheers midlife crisis ps what i dont understand is why the r32 one is hitting 15 pound and not 10 like there ment too? anyone after a r32 actuator that hits 15 pound well on my car anyways lol

hi all i have just got hold of a r32 actuator to put onto my r33 the car is auto . my problem is instead of getting the 10 pound i was hoping to get it boosted straight to 15 pound . not a good thing on the stock turbo and the ecu didnt like it much either . any ideas why it did this? i then put the stock actuator back on and the boost went straight back to 7 pound and ran fine . im thinking im better of swapping or selling the r32 actuator for a bleed valve and sticking with the r33 one to get my 10 pound im not interested in running any more boost than this . i was hoping to achive this with the r32 one cheers mid life crisis

when we did my sons 3 of the bolts had broken off with the bolts counter sunk . we called a bloke called captian thread he drilled out the broken bolts got the rest of the studs out and cleaned up the threads in about 45 mins . charged 120 bucks but without the proper drills and stuff i would have been there all day .i fitted new studs and gaskets and problem solved make sure you put a straight edge across ya manifold to check if it's warped or not and check it for cracks . i know tangles manifold come off in 2 bits it was snapped right thru . cheers mid life crisis

sounds like a exaust gasket to me esp as it goes away as things heat up . my sons r33 was doing the same thing and i was conviced it was a lifter but turned out to be a gasket . and to the guy above pinging usually happens under heavy load and a few tanks of octane booster wont fix ya prob .

have spoken with the tuner here in sa and it apears to be only recording a high knock level when the car starts to hit the rev limiter. below the limiter it apears ok the engine light is not comming on but the knock level showed up at 73 .normal boosting it seems to be under 30 only peaks when the limiter is hit

hi i was just wondering what most people would call acceptable knock levels on a r33 with power fc. fmic and a hks 2535 running 15 pound boost ? since having the power pc fitted and tuned it has been back 3 time s cause of hight knock levels, so my question is how high is too high b4 damage is start to be done cheers dean

my sons r33 was having almost the same as you describe . it turns out the hicas unit was screwed i fitted a hicas lock bar and problem solved. maybe its worth getting yours looked at cheers mid life crisis

i have a r33 auto normal mods pod/exaust/fmic and i often get over 500 ks out of a tank if im a bit gentle on the throttle. but i never see less than 460 a tank

i have one as well that never worked prop at all no matter where you set it mine boost straight to 15 pound . not good on stock turbo or ecu . i have had it apart so many times and connected it up every way possiable and it does exactly the same thing . mine ended up in the bin .so im running stock boost now 7 pound and leaving it alone

not everbody with a skyline drives like that .i aprecaite my line for what it is i dont feel the need to flog it evertime i drive it mine hardly see's boost lol. ive never been pulled over in my line and have never lost my lisence and have prob only had 3 tickets in my whole driving period .i got my license when i was 16 im 48 now and used to drive for a living so i still say 21 losing la lisence for the 5th time ya bloody peanut . and oh yeah i really love paying $850 bucks a yr for full comp at agreed value of 18g :-)

mmm the diffs arnt made by ford there made by borg warner same people who make diffs for many car manufactures gearbox by btr from memeroy not ford .so all the bits apart from the engine that are breaking are actually common to a lot of cars .and if you havent seen a hole in a rb block mate you havent been looking hard enough . btw ford did do a turbo xd falcon in the 80's altho i think they may have been outsouced as a a neibour at the time brought one brand new. i think you work in a ford dealership you hate fords prob hate ya job ect ect i bet if you worked at holden /bmw/mercedes/ nissan or any other dealership you would see failures in all of them the rb has plenty of faults i think your just too one eyed to see them.and yes i do own a skyline r33 actually we have 2 my son has one as well and ive done plenty of work on them .from broken studs to siezed idler bearings to airflow meters ect ect ect . im a mechanic by trade as well and i can tell yeah there isint a brand of car that dosent have some inherent probs out there cheers midlife crisis

i havent donated and prob wont .but if it was a subscription every 12 months for a nominal amount i would pay . i still think gambling banners are tacky tho esp as there are under age people that use the site just my 2 cents worth

i used too run the inlet manifold off a nissan patrol with a 500 holley on a rb30 at speedway yrs ago not sure if it will bolt up to a rb25 tho worth investigating
