I recently bought a 1998 R34 4 door GT. Non turbo version. Im here in kiwi land and you guys in Aussie pay a shit load more for your imports than we do here, compliance costs must be pretty harsh. Mine has 87,000 kms on the clock is in mint condition and I paid NZ$14,000 for it, I think thats somewhere around Aus$12,000.
I bought the 4 door over he 2 door because of a couple of reasons. Firstly work requirements, i work as an advertising photographer and i have to lug around a bunch of lights and camera gear all the time so the 2 door isnt really practical. Secondly cost, the 2 door is outside my budget right now, maybe in 2 years time i will look to buy a 2 door but it will have to be a second car because of the work thing. I'm not a huge fan of station wagons.
Absolutely love the car although i do think its arse end looks weird, i think its because the wheels have too much of a gap between them and the wheel arch, it makes the wheels look small and strange. Not sure what the best option is so any thoughts would be appreciated. Im considering lowering the car a small amount to close that gap, just a subtle drop. I quite like the idea of keeping the car relatively straight looking. Also there is the option of going for bigger rims with lower profile tyres but i have been told that mucks up your speedo?. Not sure if thats true though.
If I had the budget and work hadnt been an issue I would have gone for a 2 door turbo version.
