  1. thanks for the help so far guys, I've re-attached my ground lead instead of using the existing one and so far I seem to be getting better results, now when I switch to Acc position, the head unit and all associated electrical equipment (ie interior lighting, hazards, front park lights, tail lights, etc) work as well and consistantly..but the engine is still not turning over!! The dash lights come on and I hear this "click" sound as it tries to start or something but just can, then all the dash lights just die..what have I done to my baby my battery still reads 12.7V or something while the stuff is running so that's ok. I can't belive it but I've spent the whole of yesterday and a few hours of today too..saw king kong by the way gotta say I quite enjoyed it.. Anyway, it's a series 1, GTS25T I had the doors open I'd say upwards of a few hours but while I'm working on it I always disconnect the (-ve) terminal on the battery which will protect against shorts...and serves to perform an ECU reset if I'm correct..is there any special way to start it up after ECU reset?? WTF is going on with my car?!
  2. Hi guys, I've come upon a bit of a snag..since I bought my skyline, I've been wanting to give DIY a go and since I stuffed the CD player in it the other day, I thought I'd try installing a new one..well, I did but here's my problem: after I installed it, when I switched the ignition to the ACC position, it worked but then I switched it off and to ACC again, and it stopped working! Then, the car wouldn't start, then the door open and key in ignition chime went crazy, then didn't work altogether! Then the interior ceiling lights didn't work..I am pretty new to all this so I was wondering if anyone had any pointers?? Cheers
  3. in a good way thats good to know..when I bought my skyline almost 3 months ago, my mate made me buy the iridium plugs. Spend a fortune, then figured it was too much hassle to change them, on account of the ornament and piping covering up the plugs and coils..so they've just been sitting there in my garage for the last 3 months...
  4. ROFL this is funny shit
  5. It's great to see good people out there who feel this way, because I must say that I'm still not sure about what to classify myself. Until only recently I used to think exactly like Babylon's mates. I'm Asian, but I grew up here and growing up, I copped a lot of flak from bullies, even though I had Aussie friends. But I've always loved this country. I joined the Air force cadets with my mate who’s Aussie because we wanted to enlist in the armed forces together. When it came to going for uni, I was sure that I was going to do it through ADFA and join the air force. The fateful day happened that as I walked home from school, some bloke’s hurled abuse my way and that made me think "I'm going to join the defence force. I'm going to serve my country…Is it really worth giving it my all?" I still love this country. I’m just an ordinary civilian. ...hope this isn't 3 consecutive posts
  6. Well if the situation is resolved so that no-ones pride is much damaged I think it'll work out, but this sort of thing takes probably a generation or two as their decendants fit in better and achieve better lifestyles. That, or it can end up in the worst case senario where we get suicide bombers demanding the government grants the a piece of land so they can start their own country...not saying it will, but if it can happen elsewhere, it could happen here......
  7. I think I heard/read somewhere that the lebs are planning a mass gathering for this sunday..
  8. Well, basically I want to change the exhaust which is stock, put a cold air intake in and possibly fmic and high flow my turbo if the budget permits...then I want to do the interior
  9. I've been thinking about mods too actually, pretty used to the power now...which is sooner than I expected. How is drivability effected? I use my car as an everyday car, so if it ends up drinking heaps more then I'm probably better off without it.. BTW from a newb, what are the minimum mods required to make the most of the Power FC? Cheers AF
  10. mate, do you live in castle hill?? I live there and I park in castle towers all the time Thats not the most comforting news i've heard today...
  11. ..
  12. I wouldn't worry about it too much..they sound like they have too much time on their hands and just want to have a go at you just because it ruined their cup of tea one day ten months ago. My mate's RX7 is mild ported with 2x3" exhausts and a big BIG (the intake fan is the same size as my fist) turbo and he hasn't had a word said against him.
  13. yeah I used to use parra rd...4 times a week getting into UNSW for training but now I just use victoria rd/epping road and cross Anzac bridge. cuts the tolls out too!
  14. Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy the panel thing that goes under the stereo? When I bought my car, it came with the usual tray thing under the head unit like on other cars with a single DIN head unit. Anyway, last couple of days I was downloading skyline wallpapers and foudn this pic..the interior's almost exactly the same as mine, except mines an auto and missing the panel. It's even the exact same head unit as mine! Cheers, AF
  15. last friday I was having a crap day at work, and then I had to pick up my little sister at tutoring in homebush. Problem is the quality of Parramatta rd is so bad that I try avoiding it like the plague but this time it couldn't be helped. Anyway, it felt more like I was riding a donkey on uneven ground or cruising in some rough seas or something. Then on the wee hours of sunday morn on my way home from the city I was cruising up epping rd about 80km/h when I hit this fu_King great big pot hole that came out of no-where so hard that it felt like I hit a land mine or something. It was so hard that it shook the whole sunroof/light controls panel out of the ceiling! Luckily (or not) it was just me in the car! Anyway, I really think the minister of transport or roads should get off his ass and fix the damn roads. just a thought... AF
  16. saw a black r34 gtr "RUFGTR" the other night after training, about 10:30 on cumberland hwy. It was pouring down and lightenging was everywhere. I quite enjoyed it..got to a stage where I think everyone was doing 50km/h...
  17. Thanks SNISMO, got to say that's a pretty nice engine bay! Good Photo too really explaines everything
  18. I'm needing to change my oil too (already put about 5000km on it since I bought it two months ago!) actually but I haven't tried it before, but going by the description I found on the forum I reckon I should be right. Anyway, just a question, how do I tell a remote filter or if I've just got a regular filter and more importantly, which oil filter do you guys use?? Cheers AF
  19. Hi all, It's been about a month since I bought my skyline and as I went to get my pink slip at Kmart Auto, I was expecting to hear see that everything was in order when the guy told me that my tyres were worn to "less than legal limit". The tyres I'm using atm are 225/45R17. He showed me the replacements and they're $454 a pop for bridgestones!! Multiply that by 4 and it's about $1800 I wasn't expecting tyres to be that expensive so I was wondering if anybody knows where I can get new tyres fitted (and what brand) cheaper from - I mean that's more expensive than a new wheel and tyre combo.. Cheers AF
  20. Count me in too! Just bought mine and needing to do it
  21. Gave way to a black R33 parking in castle towers car park. Going to wave but the driver had his hands full reversing...plus his missus in there too..
  22. driving to work this morning 'bout 08:23 just on the corner of epping station on epping rd and noticed this dark purplish? (i am crap at telling apart colours apart from the basic obvious ones) R33 (GTS??? - didn't see the badge clearly). Anyway as I approached I gave her a quick wave and almost rear ended the guy in front of me! I didn't even get a wave back for my troubles Cheers AF
  23. don't really have any tips to share but I managed to somehow clock 505km on my last tank of petrol without the low fuel light coming on (i'm assuming there is one since I don't have a manual...)!
  24. Haha I haven't washed mine since I bought it - about 3 weeks ago! And it really looks it too. I've even got bird shit on the bonnet. Too busy and when I'm not, I'm either knackered or couldn't be stuffed.
  25. Gee..up until now, I thought my fuel economy was bad...I usually put in about 51-52 litres at a time and it usually lasts about 410-415km. Thing is though I don't thrash it at all...maybe sometimes just a little bit. Funny thing is atm on this tank, i've managed 480km so far! I'm thinking of driving it until the low fuel warning comes on but don't have a clue when that will be and how many litres left in the tank it will mean. Any clues? Cheers
