How do you tune the car to run on low octane - by reseting the ecu and letting the ecu learn? It is always hot here - 80-90 F all year around.

Hi. I plan to import a Stock Nissan Skyline R33 RB25DET. Octane 98 is not available in my area. Would it be ok to use Octane 95 after I reset the stock ECU? Is the stock ECU hard map to using only Octane 100? Or, since I can not get Octane 98, I should import a Nissan Skyline R33 RB25DE instead of the turbo? I do not plan to race or modify the car. Also, what is the difference between ping and knocking? On my old car, my knock sensor was not working properly, so the dealer diagnosis it because the check engine light was on, so I had it replaced.
