Guilt-toy Now Running On E85 !
Swiper the Fox replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
from what ive seen E85 is on par with racefuel up to 30psi...its beyond this that the racefuel takes the lead in the power stakes. -
Two.06l Final Event At Compak Attak
Swiper the Fox replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
sorry i should have said engine combo...its only the gearbox i require for the new car. 5 speed dogbox with load-sensored ignition cut for flatshifts will be handy for the circuit. The engine combo will be freshened and shrink wrapped soon after the event if no buyer is keen. May pull it out in a few years and stuff it into a gutted S13 3/4 chassis car for shits and giggles. 1100hp and 1100kg...id say it would be more shits than giggles. Ive approached Croydon Racing to see if they are keen to prep the car for the last event...would be good to have the old crew back together at the cars last outing. -

Two.06l Final Event At Compak Attak
Swiper the Fox replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Ill be handing my UDL (unlimited drag licence) in at the conclusion of this event. CAMS licence is what a GTR driver really needs. Linton, the car will appear to be totally stock...and even sound stock. But wont be . The authorities and public's tolerance for loud obtrusive modified cars is quickly diminishing...i will be building the new car how things have to be done in order to totally enjoy them. No more nervous trips into town after dark etc...a car that will blend in on the street...but stand out on the racetrack. -
Two.06l Final Event At Compak Attak
Swiper the Fox replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
im building another car...but it will be something a little more street oriented. The car is actually owned by Stacey and she really has missed the ability to just jump in and drive it around on the street without the fear of Mr Plod throwing the book at her. The shell im sure will be at Superlap next year as the new owner is involved in circuit racing...as well as my new project im starting very soon. Drag racing bores the crapper out of me...i need to spend more time in a car at an event...instead of sitting around all day. The sport is run by knuckle-draggers stuck in the dark ages and the rules are written to suit the big hitters of the sport with little regard for the grass roots guys. There was little to no point continuing on running ET's and being knocked out 1st round in a slow car when the class is based on a National fixed index system. My last race in QLD had me lined up against a 5.9 sec alcohol dragster...thats crazy...one accident will have someone badly injured or killed if those sort of classes continue to exist. There is only 2 Sport Compact events per year to race the car and owning a car that see's the track twice a year (with one of those events requiring the car to be freighted interstate) was in our view simply unsustainable. -
This will be the final event for the car before its disassembled. The body is going to a new home and the driveline is up for sale. Bit sad to see it go this way but no-one was interested in buying the whole car and racing it. The sport is a bit difficult now for a car of this build since the Sport Compact series was folded and there is no class where a 4WD manual car can compete competitively unless its running low 8's or high 7's. Couple that with ANDRA's stand on making the sport expensive by not allowing competitors to run cheaper fuels etc has forced our hand. I sincerely like to thank all those people who has been tremendous supporters of the car over the years as well as Croydon Racing Developments and Godzilla Motorsport who have been involved with tuning etc. A few little gremlins have been holding the car back but since bringing the car home from QLD they have been all sorted. The final event should see the car run the times ive always known its been capable of given a good clean pass. hope to see you at the track, thank you and farewell. Paul and Stacey.

Turbo Oil Pressure Regulator
Swiper the Fox replied to r33_racer's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yes i forgot to add that i also recommend using (and do use myself) a Peterson filter in the oil feed line to the turbo. It saves your turbo if your engine happens to chew on some bearings. -
Noel some of the bodgy sh1t that we have been sent lately to try and fix would make you cry. Terry my head guy has tossed RB heads straight in the skip bin people have bought for $3500+ expecting us to bolt it to a bottom end we have done for them. We now strip and rebuild every head as its not worth risking our reputation bolting on someone elses rubbish.

When you are ready to have an injector loom made give me a call. I hope you got the one thats on the car now cheap!

Turbo Oil Pressure Regulator

run 2mm restrictor at the block and 1mm at the turbo...about 10x cheaper. -
Rb26 Crank Pulley Torque Setting
Swiper the Fox replied to endless's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well im yet to have an issue using this method...so id say its reasonably sound. A few guys who now use the old 150 x 1/2 method have not had an issue either. its actually 150ft/lb...not nM...i dont know why i typed nM as i dont use that base unit very much...all my stuff is in ft/lb. So 200nM or 150ft/lb. -
even got some shots of TWO.06L going around in the early days somewhere. That was before Stacey took it drag racing and removed the steering wheel and middle pedal. Dunc's that night shot is a cracker! Used to go there with my dad back in the Group C and Group A days. Oran Park was the first track i ever ran a full bodied car on. Ahh you guys must feel awful looking at those shots...very sad indeed.

yes...shims required. Are they suggesting the buckets should actuate directly on the retainers??

Oil Coming Out Of The Turbo?
Swiper the Fox replied to schnorky's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
relax...its recirculated crankcase pressure. turbo's are fine. -
Guilt-toy Now Running On E85 !
Swiper the Fox replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
good additude...no point killing it to get a number. Change the set-up and allow the engine to achieve the gain from the improvements made. Although your engine should have no issues running more boost, its understanding what the engine is telling you from the numbers that separates the good tuners from the ones popping engines trying to get an ego boost. Adam is definately one of the good ones. Ive pulled down a big e85 set-up and seen what happens to bearings running them too lean...the thing is they don't ping on e85 like they do on petrol...its more of a vibration that flogs the little ends out and crumbles the big ends up without hearing a thing. This is quite common on methanol engines with a big tune-up in them but the engines are generally built well enough to tolerate it and rebuilt often enough to not cause total engine failure. I recently crewed for one of the top sprintcar teams in qld and spoke to their engine supplier and tuner at length about this. He is of the opinion a lot of people using e85 may end up with an expensive lesson due to a lack of experience and knowledge using this product. These same guys also supply engines to the current champion V8 supercar team so are at the pointy end of e85 engine development in this country...they know their stuff. -
Put Stock, Airbox And Stock Fuel Reg On
Swiper the Fox replied to ryan101's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
my latest project will appear to be totally stock and make 400AWKW...it will even sound stock!! pop the hood and all you will see is the engine looking like Nissan built it. Stealth is the new black. -
Rb30e Oil Pump And Oil Restrictors With Rb25det Head
Swiper the Fox replied to SECURITY's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the beauty of not having a large contact area is the inner gear has a thicker 'ring' where the flats are not machined. The saw tooth gear design and the divider inside the pump body makes to less prone to chatter and fracturing the pump gear. There are a few 8 and 9 second VL's out there using stock pumps. -
or put a Vi-pec plug-in in it and throw the bastards away.

yes...see page 9 mate http://www.sportcompact.net.au/pdfs/2009%2...eral%20Regs.pdf cheers
