R32 Gtr Atessa Issues
Swiper the Fox replied to johnnyt's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
just use the connector crack the bleeder at the rear of the gearbox and turn the key to on. No need to run the engine. ive done it this way about 370,000 +/-1 times without issue. -

id get a new auto sparky...injector pulse comes from the CAS. The AFM only adjusts the pulse width. -
Andra Vs E85 ... Sign The Petition.
Swiper the Fox replied to Butters's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Mate it sticks out like dobermann's nuts that the goons running the sport are trapped well and truely in the dark ages. If i can get an 8 out of the current combo it may well be the last time i take my car to a straight track. Ive well and truely had enough. Circuit guys are much more advanced in thinking and intelligence...time to book myself in for that brain transplant and come have some fun using the middle pedal me thinks. -

a quick test today revealed you actually burn less E85 compared to Roo16 for a given AFR. -

fallen on his sword before it cut his head off eh? i see andra may be taking this approach to approving it before it gets too grubby for them. I see this press release as the 1st step. http://www.andra.com.au/article.asp?Id=2101 -
Ive recently learned that Mercury Motorsport has been appointed the official QLD distributor for CSR E85. Trent informed me during a brief chat at the track the other day he has scored the ditribution rights for this fuel in QLD. This is exactly the same fuel as is being currenlty used by AVESCO in the V8 supercar series. Trent is about to recieve the first delivery of the new fuel and is keen to show some back to back tests against not only regular unleaded but also some of the more expensive race fuels. Im keen to see some results.

Two.06l Update (twoogle)
Swiper the Fox replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
this was actually a highlight...and the fact the car now has a properly set-up gearbox and shifter. Its so good to shift it may as well be an automatic...its very slick. qualified and made the field...which was good considering i was racing cars up to 4+ seconds quicker than me. Got drawn against a 5.9 sec top alcohol dragster in 1st round...suffice to say i had a quick chat to the driver and told HER there would be no funny business from me at the tree and id allow her through to the next round. The thought of it getting out of shape as she was coming past me and dumping a 500 cube hemi through my rear windscreen at 200 MPH 1/2 track was enough to be sensible, follow her into stage and leave after she did. my anti-lag is not working as the boost control set-up changes we recently made are allowing pressure to escape out the wastegate as im anti-lagging before launch. Its something that was unfortunately overlooked when setting it up...1.8-2.0 60' times are only allowing 10.2's...instead of 1.3's that the car normally does and running something like 9.2's or better. be back on track very soon...possibly this wednesday night which will be better air and the track should still be there from the weekend. -

low gown driveability and response are the things to cling to for satisfaction when a combo just doesn't cut the numbers.

With that sort of talk you should be in here... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Na...-Perfo-f53.html Why not just sell the skyline and drive a diesel truck? we dont buy/modify these things to putt around off boost. honestly my car is great down low 1200+nm of tractive effort at 4500 is pretty impressive...thats well built V8 territory. Ziller you are spot on...STD head = small cams...there is no point even bothering with larger camshafts when they have little to assist them. Thats why there is also no point using RS's if you are not willing to spend the required $$ on the head. Building and designing combo's for these engines is all about matching the components to work together...a mis-match in one area will be exposed through poor results/performance.

Rb25 And 26 Squish Pad Removal And Cr
Swiper the Fox replied to Chris Wilson's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
not me...i tell all...thats what this place is all about. some food for thought...lowering the static comp allows more charge to enter the combustion chamber. The more charge the bigger the bang. It works well in our own engines....remember a boosted engine the cylinder pressure is multiplyed than would otherwise be seen if it was atmo as the air is being rammed in and not pulled in under vacuum. -

ok...dogbox is fixed...it had a few minor issues that have been sorted and should now be reliable. Shifter had to be custom made and is being freighted up from Sydney and should be here at 10am tomm. morning. If it wasn't for the kind assistance of Dazmo (Darren) and Deano45 (Nathan) i would be a spectator on Saturday...thanks heaps guys. Cheers -

the amount of r & d that went into building that engine if put into a $$ figure was about $200K. That was stated directly to me in person by the engine builder. Zebra your coventional thinking you have quoted is correct on a vacuum drawing engine (atmo). It doesn't necessarily go the same way with forced induction. Would you run a small cam in an atmo engine that runs 15:1 static comp and expect it to make lots of power early...no way. How do you expect to get good cylinder fill and properly burn the mixture. The thread was about RS' turbo's on a 2.8ltre. I wouldn't contemplate running RS's in a streetcar as it takes a big dollar head to compliment them...but if dollar figure is not an issue...yeah go for it...if not put -5's on it and enjoy a car that will fly under the radar and spend the saved $$ on a good brake kit for track racing it every now and then.
-
What?...thread is now indecent because you don't agree with something someone has said. So there is something a little wrong with someone sharing knowledge that has been there before. You have a point though...an engine that produces over 1200nm of peak torque at 4500rpm, that revs to 9500rpm and makes over 1/2 a megawatt at the tyres is so indecent it should be considered porno.

ive tried 260's with RS's...they were rubbish. transformed the car with real cams installed and a proper head. Brought the power on 1000rpm earlier. This was an actual back to back test on the same engine/car and dyno with the same operator. Even one of the most experienced GTR tuners in the country thought his dyno was playing up as the difference was unbelieveable. He rolled another car on to check it was reading right, then rolled ours back on and it made the same power (less 2KW). some people don't actually understand how a forced induction engine works...with a 26 stroker you would be mad to do what you have suggested above as it will leave a massive hole in your torque curve and leave you wondering why its not performing. 260's have nowhere near enough valve lift to move the air required for those turbo's. Their is a fella up here in qld who just tried the above with his 26/30 and went backwards as i told him it would. His T51R that he installed after he decided to ditch the RS's for actually came on earlier as it was recieving double the cylinder pulses the RS's were for each engine revolution keeping the turbo shaft speed high. The RS' sare not an easy turbo to get right when using in a twin combo...but when right they are outstanding. Over 500AWKW at 25psi, a 5000rpm curve of peak torque and 9 second drag passes out of a 1500kg car is my proof that i know how it needs to be done. Jamil, if you need hand with the build send me a PM.

How Good Is The Standard Rb25det Fuel Reg?

Single High Mount On Rb26 430rwhp
Swiper the Fox replied to toy515's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
size of your turbo?...if its around the same size as a GT-SS of course it will be. your set-up 2.0 litres capacity x 1 turbo but due to the inferior head design/flow of the RB20 this evens it up a bit. his set-up 2.6 litres capacity 2 x turbo's his is the equivalent of a 1.3 litre engine vs your 2 litres...even if you turbo is the same as a 2530 you would still have more airflow through the turbine at any given rpm. -

My friends place i was at before talking to you the other night had 7 of them...and that was his house!! One out the front, two in the carport and four in the shed. Works out about right in the pecking order too...as id say confidently he knows more than Trent but is not as knowledgeable as Ben. CRD one day had 17 of them at the workshop...GTR god? -
Oil Pressure Low After Installation Of Components
Swiper the Fox replied to Taso84's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
my drag car uses a fuel and ignition cut out system should oil pressure fall below 30psi with an override switch for start-up. Its already saved 1 engine due to an oil pump failure on launch (N1 oil pumps don't like banging off the limiter with ignition cut at 9500rpm)
