  1. Box would shift ok cold but when warm it would be extremely difficult to shift...it was like someone had filled it with rapid set concrete to the point where you could not move the shifter out of neutral.
  2. PPG currently have a GTR helical cut complete dogbox for sale...$6600...see their website. bargain I have both the helical dog and straight cut dog boxes in our circuit and drag cars respectively...if assembled correctly are near bulletproof. They are not a slap together item and have to be assembled using exact tolerances...the only ever issue PPG have experienced is when people who 'think' they know what they are doing assemble them. I used the OS Giken gearset for years and only ever had an issue when it was again incorrectly assembled. This is why i now use Terry at Award Diff and Gearbox for all our gearbox work...he has saved us a lot of issues and headaches.
  3. good prices Steve...should have no trouble getting rid of that lot...i may have a guy im doing a build for that may take it allt. Wont know until i return from Brisbane at the end of the month. PM me a package price if you can do one.
  4. precisely...we got my RS's to come in 1000rpm earlier just by doing the head and more power everywhere as well. The same result was achieved on a HKS T51R set-up which was good confirmation the mods worked for differing combo's...for less than half of the figure above. much easier and better way to improve response in my opinion, but if you dont have the resources and know what the real tricks are with a 26 head its an option.
  5. How could i have forgotten the moral support from you the other night Jack... But this guy Nismoid...what rock did he crawl out from under?...mate if Ben Derks was Monty Burns...you would be Smithers.
  6. right...australia is pulling out all stops to have the car running this weekend...cars back in brisbane, gearbox is still on the gold coast, shifter is being modified and the associated control unit set-up in sydney and parts are being machined in adelaide and or sydney depending on which set-up we choose to use for the gearbox. Im sure Dave Barrow and Smiley in WA have something to offer to make it a truely australia wide effort. (they would probably laugh and say "just put a bloody auto behind it") big thanks to all the guys who have offered their assistance at a moments notice to have the car ready...much appreciated and many thanks. the world H-pattern record is 8.95...im not for a moment suggesting its going to fall but it gives us a goal to aim for. a PB and getting the car to run reliably within a tenth each pass like it used to would make me very happy as there is no point being fast if you can't back it up each run
  7. i don't know what all the fuss is...twins are a snack to work on...once bolted in its not like you need to play with them. I do have a kit of custom spanners for fitting them though and know the order things are easily fitted. Singles look cheap and tacky...stealth is the new black!
  8. considering the price one would assume its a complete head minus manifolds, plenum, injectors fuel rail etc.
  9. agree...if your keeping the head stock id stick with the HKS low-mounts.
  10. after surround that goes around gearstick and centre console gauges...also the gearstick boot with the small trim attached...pm me a price...thanks
  11. correct...a supplier who already has run this set-up for years is helping us out with sourcing the parts and getting it correctly set-up. box was pulled out this afternoon and will be stripped and inspected tomm.
  12. he is refering to the no.1 cam cap...but we all know the 1/2 moons are the rubber bush fitted to the rear of the head. Bad choice of word only.
  13. no the corners where the rounded part (outside edge of no1 cam cap) meets the head.
  14. Id say a quick call to the ACCC may sort this mess out.
  15. small dob on each side of the cam caps (you will see a small groove on the outside front edge, the sealant needs to be placed outside this groove)...then another small dob in the corners when putting the cam covers on...never had one leak.
  16. outright...7.78sec...lots of work to get it to 7.56...but i think we may give it a shake. Photo's of the off roader later in the week (busy with the GTR for the next few nights) the budget is unlimited on this one and given my forced induction background id say ill be twisting an arm for some turbo(s). Single cammer in the VL...big garrett turbo, 4 link rear end, Liberty clutchless 5 speed etc My dogbox is also coming out tomm. all this in 4 weeks...
  17. How much power are you after ? rev range etc? you may be able to cross the rods off the list and use resized RB26 rods...this is what i mainly use and recommend. aftermarket rods are a waste of time and money if it means skimping on other area's of the build to fund them. i have never had a STD RB26 rod fail in any of my engines...even the ones revving at 9500rpm and seeing 35psi of boost. if you are keen for me sourcing all the bits for you i may be interested. Im in Brisbane till the end of the month so i could also deliver it to your door.
  18. one of the most epic DYO finals you will ever see. awesome drive job mate
  19. Im sure there is still something id balls up.
  20. Spoke to fuel control...they have even offered Andra THEIR test equipment. They have contracted Andra about whats going on but unfortunately with no reply. Their is a new organic additive once approved by the government will boost the octane rating to 139!!!. VP cannot compete with CSR with their own E85 as E85 is not permitted to be imported by fuel companies. Andra certainly isn't run by a team of rocket scientists and brain surgeons but one would think they would have enough intelligence to realise if it was cheaper to race at events by allowing teams to dramatically cut thier fuel costs that more cars would enter more events.
  21. Wait till the end of the week...of course he's not going to say its happening. Fu(k em...im running it at the next event...might have to run in a testing class though instead of Group 2 as all Group 2 cars were fuel tested. Ken...who are you kidding buddy...cut out the silly scare tactics mate its easily seen through. Both you and i know you could easily approve CSR E85 as you already have all the data you need to effectively test it. They provide consistent quality, all the specs are freely available from John at Fuel Control as well as batch numbers and batch test sheets from CSR. We are not asking you to approve some dodgy mix concocted in the back streets of Bangladesh, just the control fuel thats already being used in the most prominent form of motorsport in this country as well as many others.
  22. its all about getting the car to do the same run every run...thats the key to winning events. yeah i have a toggle switch for changing the ecu maps...the racing map will have the switch set-up in it...the street one will not.
  23. we are trying to take as much of the driver out of the car as we can.
  24. found one... Bosch GSS-2...around $800 delivered http://www.bosch-motorsport.de/pdf/sensors..._shift/GSS2.pdf
