Jim Berry Clutch V Exedy
Swiper the Fox replied to JUN`R32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey 2rismo the guys a negative tosser who bitches and whinges like a shiela about anything that takes his fancy...theres an old saying i like and it goes a little something like this... "if you want to find out how bad something is, ask someone who doesn't have one, would like one, but can't afford it." Yes other people make good clutches too...I now use an NPC twin plate. A good clutch for our race car....but in a street car a Jim Berry clutch is 1/2 the price and much more suited to that application. -
Highest your dyno has ever gone (accurately)...easy question Top Secret car or just a gold R33 with plates on it to decieve?? Why wont it be racing?...ahh thats right...it went racing and embarrassed itself...dyno room may be the best spot for it then. The real test of a cars potential is the MPH on a time slip or a lap time at the track

How has Richard got so much pull ?? Ahh thats right, him and John have a "special" man to man relationship.

Wiggin's clamps ( the purple ones) are the shiz...bit exy though...if you find them somewhere at reasonable cost id like some too. EDIT: here's some.. http://atsperformance.com.au/ATS/catalog/cat_fuel.htm

Changed to the 19th! ...you guys are kidding aren't you?...every Import worth its salt (including ours) will be here... http://www.sportcompact.net.au/round4.php have it the next day perhaps...our car will have full race tune, C16 in the tank and a bottle full of NOS to waste. John whats your dyno record (i.e. the most powerful car) ??
-
Our car will be there on the Hypertune stand, not competing just display only. They may allow us to dyno the car for the spectators only, not for trophys. See ya's there!

We are racing in Super Mod. will enter as soon as car is sorted. -
sorry...two things... have you seen how poorly sprung an "out of the box" Jap clutch is...the clamp is all over the place...have a look at one on a test bench...thats why they use multiple plates to make up for it. They are nicely manufactured but poorly set up. Even NPC ( who i now use ) only go as far as twin plates on their 1200 KW monster clutches. Jim can modify the set up on OS clutches to operate properly and has had good results from doing so. i had a Jim Berry single in our race car ( 440-450 AWKW ) for over 3 years...so streetable my wife drives and races the car ( often better than i do ) ...picks up the daughter from school etc. You wouldn't know the difference from a stocker.

hopefully it wont need any...if i need to gas it off the line to keep it on boost, i will. Starting off with a 35 shot and working our way up. Nothing more than 75 though. -

im very kind to the gearbox (granny shifter) and we redo the synchro's after 50 passes (trade secret to make the OS gearboxes last) -

Nissan gearbox with OS gearset and an NPC twin plate clutch. The difference between a mid 10 car and a high 9 car is a lot in $$ terms and development, thats why there is lots of 10 sec cars and hardly any 9's. Hope you aware of what you may be getting yourself into, and if so then i wish you all the best and good luck. the above statement is made with the utmost sincerity. -

Hi Paul, The catch can is another Hypertune item $220 plus freight, plenty of room there even with a single high mount and dump, yours being a R33 they may have to change the mounting brackets slightly. The car was built to run 9's, high 9's. Anything more requires a lot of work to maintain (engine pull downs, gearbox overhauls etc). Im not saying this set-up will be set and forget, its just that I know how much maintenance (sp*) Mark and Theo do to their cars to keep them in the low 9's (and now high 8's) and i don't posses their time, facilities or budget. Im in desperate need of some sponsorship $$ to keep this car competing, and without this im not willing to flog the car to death. Im just going to go out and have some fun and high 9's should keep me amused im sure. -

And its about time too...sick of seeing disrespectful people sleeping in and getting pissed and gambling all day. If they attended the dawn service and went back to the local RSL to spend some time with the WW2, Korea and Vietnam diggers then yes fair enough. Someone here refered to the ban as "unAustralian"......to holiday, gamble and runamok on the backs of diggers who gave so much for this country is MORE "unAustralian" in my eyes...an absolute embarasment to my relatives who made the ultimate sacrifice in WW1 and to my Grandfather who risked his life in Borneo, Malaya and New Guinea in WW2 to make this great country what it is today. Ill be at the dawn service in the city next Wed. then on to WSID to run some numbers in memory of my family. Who's with me ?
