Yes , I think it's more than the lenght of the track. You will have plenty of time to slow down. On my 1st go I ended up with my front wheels in the 'sand trap' (it's actually all rocks and gravel), so try and avoid that if you can. And yes, have fun as it is a really good buzz. Also another bit of advice I tell people is to keep it as simple as you can. I always seem to be consistant with my times becasue I dont have much to worry about or remember to do.......other than launching. Reducing the amount of things you have to switch on/off or spin before hand is a good thing. IMO. Hope it's not raining in Sydney. Cheers..........Stacey

Hi Christian, my tips would be: 1. Drive around the water if you dont want to do a burn out. 2. leave you window down a bit and tell the starting guys thats its your 1st time. They will show you where to stop. It's offen hard to see where the line is, and you don't won't to be floundering around reversing and going forward until the staging light go on. 3. Bring your rev's up to about 6500-7000rpm and hold them there. (depends on what power you have and how good your grip is). You dont wont your rev's to be too low or you will bog down off the line). 4. Lift you foot off the clutch until you feel it take, and then wait until the green lights, then lift off all the way, and then launch the thing. 5. 2nd gear change will come very quickly, so try not to bounce it off the limiter too much. 6. change at about 8000rpm. 7. When you go over the finish line keep your foot down all the way over the line. You will probably have to change into 5th going over the line. 8. Don't put your foot anywhere near the brake......just use the gears to slow down. (I've done this and I slid all over the track) Also.........you don't need to go as soon as you see the green, just take your time. The timer starts when you cross the starting line. This probably sounds all straight forward. I am a very conservative Drag..er...So, I hope some of the advice sounds ok. Stacey (the smarter and more consistant part of DiRTgarage)

Got a mate running a T67 (i think) on an RB24 and uses a HKS F-con V, works a treat

Compak Attak...21st May Western Sydney International Dragway......be there!
-
The 2530's we used before were rated at 320ps each......these puppies are rated at 400ps each.....cant wait to see the results, and the different response with the two graphs overlayed.

the check engine light would have resembled a red strobe light

No.6 always needs a bit more fuel due to the flow characteristics of the STD fuel rail....not taking this into account when tuning is pure folly, and often ends looking like this

Thanks mate... yes the fruit bowl is subjected to extreme heat from the in floor heating....so we had it done too...lol wont be long now....bolting it all up this week.....tuning the following Friday if all goes well.

For all the gear i got done around $1000.

Yes, Competition Coatings at Guildford. Only the external surfaces look to have been treated.....but in saying that.....its quite common to get pistons coated.....so the product must be safe to use

RH9 is an accreditation given to Japanese workshops that builds 9 sec GTR drag cars that run "street" tyres. Its like a club i suppose...a 9sec street GTR club. Contrary to popular belief the workshops are recognised not the car itself. There are 5 RH9 workshops in Aust....BSM, Godzilla Motorsport, Tillbrook's, Croydon's and Willall. DiRTgarage hope to become the 6th.....but more importantly.....to our knowledge no-one has done this using low-mounts.....we hope to be the 1st.

Yes Brad, the balance pipe helps in street cars for drivability.....which is something i dont give a toss about. This setup is all about full noise low 10 to high 9 sec passes....nothing more.

I think from memory the silver is a single coating rated to 700deg and the black is a double coating rated to 1100deg. The black works so well the turbine housing can be touched after racing without burning your fingers.

No problem when you run WOT.....wide open throttle...lol Jim's a great tuner though and tuned all shuffle out of the system with the 2530's. Ive really handed him a task with the RS's...lets see if he's up to it.

HKS GT-RS....BTW the ceramic coating is done to keep the heat in the system (turbine side) and is not there to protect other items...thats the job of heat shields. The compressor side is done in ceramic chrome for asthetics as well as keeping the heat from transferring into that side of the system. Heat shields are used and are chromed.(again for bling!!!)

Got all the bits back from Competition Coatings all ready to bolt up.

The product is great. Jim has been building them before any of us were born. He has been doing lots of Skylines lately. Modifies them to individual specifications. Give him a call. He is lovely to chat to. You can send it to him, and he'll usually have it back to you within a fortnight. As a woman driving the GTR, its the best clutch I've ever used. Very smooth and quiet around the town (not twin/triple plate rattle), and very tough launching at 8000rpm @ WSID. We have probably done at least 40 or 50 launches in it....and its only just starting to slip now. We are sending it up to Jim very soon to get fixed up before Compak Attack. RACE CLUTCH CONTACT: JIM BERRY ADDRESS: 26 GLADYS STREET STONES CORNER QLD 4120 PHONE: 07 3847 9999 HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday-Friday: 8.30 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. Hope that answers some of you questions............ Cheers Stacey (the smarter & more consistant half of DiRTgarage).
