  1. that myth has been busted.
  2. head studs not needed...just use new bolts. venting the sump to the rear of the head is not needed either...just get it built right.
  3. put a standard shifter in it...both my OS Giken synchro box (new synchro's) and my PPG dogbox crunched into 4th using a short shifter...they are ricey crap.
  4. ive got a good spare unit if you need it.
  5. the std non abs lines are available from nissan...so is the non abs master cylinder.
  6. unfortunately i couldn't make the event due to motorsport commitments in another state...looks the goods Hawko...an excellent quality release as always...well done.

  12. yeah was a pretty easy pass...1st one with everything in order. Clutch was used in all shifts...time to turn the boost up, tweak the suspension settings and stop using the clutch.

  15. its the alcohol in the fuel making the oil go off. methanol drag cars have the same issue...often changing the oil during a meet.

  17. If you start from a stock car then spending 20K is a doddle...easy to blow that. I thought he meant engine build only...engine build these days is about 8-10K depending on whats done...double that for anything used for racing and triple that for high end motorsport stuff.

  19. don't quote me but i think it was making boost at 3000rpm and full boost at 4100rpm...they got to 530hp before the dyno shat itself. Ill get Simon to post when proper info comes to hand.
  20. Nitto pump is the only OEM style pump ill use or recommend using.
  21. yeah he's the only person id let touch my car in Newy...Newcastle has nothing in the way of reputable mechanics/engine builders. Thats the reason i do all my own stuff...im very fussy. No tuner's here either, i fly Mark down from Brisbane when i need him.

Ash my point was the engine was good enough to make 450KW+ with only basic stuff...nothing to do with fuel used etc...just that the basic engine build i refered to was capable of being durable with that power level. Head was 'cleaned up' though yes...nothing too OTT though. It made over 400 on pump day in day out till it caught N1 virus.
