  1. it shouldn't but it does...cannot and will not sell this below $45K for morals sake.
  2. a bad tune, a little cough (fuel pump sucks a bit of air) or a bad batch of fuel may have you regretting that statement. even a low power levels any of the above can end the life of a stock cast piston. Something a simple as a fuel reg vacuum hose coming off or splitting...boost acutator line etc. build it once properly...when you want more power later...and you will! It can be wicked up without a worry.
  3. because there is a huge market in stolen trailers...i had 2 stolen in 6 months!! one from outside the workshop and then the replacement i had stored and chained up at a friends place while they were away last easter. piss easy to rebirth them...go to trailer place, tell them your building a trailer, buy new chassis plate, change chassis plate, slightly modify and fit new wheels (stolen from nearest ford or holden depending on stud pattern) sell for $3000 and make 2K profit! The police told me that trailer theft is rife and there is little that can be done after it is re-birthed...even if you find and or recognise your old trailer.
  4. I have a very tidy S13 for sale...unmolested lady owner car that i bought for my daughter but she is not keen on a manual (its a factory 5 speed mode)l. Its got all power options including heads up display, sparkling blue in colour with 17 inch alloys and lowered kings springs (not stupidly low just makes it sit right). Its just had a full rebuild with forged internals done by Red R Racing...this includes, crack tested, bored, strainer plate honed, and decked block, fully rebuilt head including carbolina clean, valves and seats recut, new guides and seals fitted, surface ground etc. New main and head fasteners, 1.3mm multi-layer metal head gasket, cryo treated resized and balanced conrods with new ARP rod bolts fitted, balanced and micropolished crankshaft, ACL race series main and rod bearings, Wiseco 20thou oversize forged race pistons, new genuine Nissan oil and water pumps, genuine nissan timing belt and NSK tensioner and idler pulleys, new lower timing gear, genuine Nissan gasket kit, new Nissan external fasteners, new engine mounts, recently had new turbo and clutch fitted by previous owner. Pretty tough engine that will handle 300kw with the right turbo and supporting mods. Im putting it up for sale officially in about a week once engine is fitted, and car has had full professional inside and out detail. Let me know if this is something that interests you.
  5. There is a small difference between the two Dave. the sticker actually has people questioning whether its a piss take or not. dose pipe confirms it without a shadow of doubt.
  6. In the early days Jim at CRD used to lock my ecu but explained why he was doing it....its because he knew id fiddle with it. Now that he has a lot more confidence in me he feels there is no need. Customers with an Apexi Commander unit are the most risky...as the tune can be altered quite easily as the interface is always plugged in and generally on display within the vehicle. ECU's with laptop programs to access the tune are less of a risk as its a little more secure. I have no issue with locking ecu's as long as when the first enquiry is made with the business it is clearly stated and explained that this is their policy. Telling a customer when their car is being tuned or when it is picked up after tuning is completely unacceptable.
  7. love your work...awesome. on topic...why you would want to do such a thing is beyond me. Sorry Mr Cosgriff
  8. really only adding one sensor to the vi-pec if its a GTS-t...and thats air inlet temp. This is something that none of the other two (Nistune and Power FC) have. Air inlet temp correction is important in cars that see track duty...ive known of a car that ran perfectly for quite some time on the street with an ecu with no AIT sensor that melted a piston the first time it saw track duty. With the GTR no sensors need to be added...just a vacuum/boost line to the ecu. Both Power FC and Nistune also cannot read trigger like all others at high RPM....its just a case of a disc with 360 slots spinning so fast it blurrs to the point that the ecu see's it as one big open slot. Thats why big horsepower.rpm cars run aftermarket trigger set-up...its to avoid this issue. The Nissan 360deg optical CAS was never designed with big RPM in mind and is simply not up to the task. My car's logging showed on one run that the engine was spinning at 22500rpm...it wasn't doing that of course, more like 10000 but the ecu couldn't work out what rpm because of the trigger wheels speed and gave a false reading.
  9. Back up for sale as buyer fell through. pm for more info or see here... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/9-...&hl=twoogle $45K no offers please
  10. how much for it unassembled? id much rather build it myself please pm
  11. Are you pressing F4 to store the change in the ecu itself as just changing it on the laptop doesn't store it. Jim at CRD found this out when recently tuning my car...made a host of changes shut the car down and lost it all. It should be set to falling anyway...so something has been cocked up there somewhere. sounds like a WA dealer/tuner issue...not the product itself...No problems this side of the Nullabor. For a basic street car you are right though...Nistune works fine. Im using it on one of my other cars (S13).
  12. no solid as a rock...timing better than any ecu ive seen...even better than the MoTeC M800 im running now. Only ever seen issues in 9500rpm+ cars...but any ecu will with a 360 slot optical trigger wheel. Im using an Autronic chopper disc now with the MoTeC as it has trouble too...actually worse than the Vi-PEC. Are you sure you properly saved the changes to the ecu? as what you have described sounds like tuner error to me. What setting were you trying to use? Did you properly calibrate the trigger set-up and check it with the timing lock?
  13. and so does running an adaptor plate for 4wd sump. Mick will show you how its done just after you pay him when picking your car up.
  14. They feel it is their businesses intelectual property...not the customers...thats why they are locked.
  15. I know where the car was originally tuned and i can confirm that locking ecu's is common practice. Its bullsh1t...you are paying...hence you own it. I would also suggest that the customers are not informed of this...ACCC will act on this but need to have a written formal complaint submitted to do so.
  16. fatugue...did they fit new guides when doing the engine. I see cracked guides all the time when pulling heads down.
  17. yes i had a little giggle at the posts above...wasn't going to comment until someone else did. btw...i use a 20psi hobbs switch. So engine must have at least 20psi of oil pressure to run. This has already saved i engine lunching an N1 oil pump at 9500rpm. Bearings and crank were in perfect condition...could have just replaced the pump, cleaned everything and gone again.
  18. i run mine with both ignition (same as above) and fuel cut. I have a big Autometer warning light telling me if its all gone south. http://www.autometer.com/cat_accessoriesdetail.aspx?vid=158
  19. Frankly i couldn't give a flying one about what Ray says. Ive just told you what i buy them for as a member of the public. All this garbage about dealer crap and pricing is im sure affecting their sales. A friend of mine recently called a Vi-pec dealer asking to supply an expansion cable...the dealer then rudely asked who is it for and what car its going in and who's tuning it etc...he got the impression the dealer was obviously shitty that someone else on his 'turf' was installing and tuning the ecu's. If i get some interest ill run a group buy for those interested to try and bring the price down.
