Gtr R32 Transfer Case Clutch Slipping?
nobby replied to mattyg's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Trans max Z Trans max Z Trans max Z. Been using it for 5 yrs now no problems. Rd car only no track work. A less grippy tyre will give the transfer clutch more work to do. As the system picks up on more rear tyre slippage and sends more torque to the front to compensate. It sounds normal to me. -
Have you tried turning the shaft 180 degrees yet to compare if vib's better or worse

Radar Detectors And Throttle Body Interference On Pm35
nobby replied to 0t1's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
try cleaning the connectors on the throttle body and or TPS. see what happens then. -
Seeing as you recon blowing white smoke. pull spark plugs you could find the problem. you may find crap in a cylinder, sure sign head gasket. but a blown head gasket doesn't always leak into cylinders. oil in water is oil gallery to water path, proberly head gasket. as for the special sealant guess that's not working hay. why was a sealant recommended for head gasket, what was it supposed to do / help / fix ?.

What Else Do I Try To Rid Brake Squeeling?
nobby replied to SargeRX8's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
DYNAGRIP, disc brake squeal free. P/No 49662. net weight 255gram. guess probably enough to do 3 cars minimum. read direction, contains stuff you don't want to breath. Yes fairly thin, but you can build it up as thick as you like, but no need. This product dries. Every-thing cleaned with brake cleaner Coated each side of shim and back of pad. Place pad on it face and spray, pad face IS to be left clean. If your worried about pad contamination, maybe cover with foil and tape foil to pad backing steel plate sides. Wait for this stuff to dry before handling. As it takes a little while before it's not sticky any more. Not long, say 1/2 hr or so. I did this nearly a year ago so time frame a little unsure OEM shims "think" have a rubber type coating standard. I simply re-coated shims as oem stuff "small amount" 10% was peeling off. Re-built front callipers I used a wire brush in my elec drill to de-glase old discs. Light cross hatched pattern Std JDM GTR drilled discs Have to say, my car didn't have a noise problem in the first place. I reused old pads, simply re-code callipers, sprayed re-coated shims and pad backing. Dont' like a soft peddle, so work preformed. Genuine cal seal kit. Rubber grease. Dynagrip. Wire wheel. Brake cleaner, (plenty of it). callipers thoroughly cleaned and blown out hand polished pistons clean, small amount Autosol. pistons triple cleaned with brake cleaner afterwards and clean rag and air. New b-fluid. cheers -
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
nobby replied to russ123's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
A mate of mine fitted monitor kit, and from memory max 160kph was the safety thresh-hold for it. worth looking into for a track car, unless it's a Hold##. lol. -
What Else Do I Try To Rid Brake Squeeling?
nobby replied to SargeRX8's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The red goo you fellers keep talking about, is it the tube or spray?. I re-kitted front callipers, and sprayed the red stuff on the shims and back of pads, no problems. Did the usual break-in followed by fairly hard stops no noises to report. -
The New Soft Brake Pedal Thread.

Never ceases to amaze me, how just plain lazy people have become. And have no pride in what they do. Or that they can hold their head up high and call em selves a trade professional. As Darren said. SHAME SHAME SHAME. -
So what about the approx $200 delivered ebay ones. How good are they?.

Just made new bucket setup with flyscreen false bottom. Had 20 Lt, and 15 Lt, cut the 15 Lt fitted this into larger one, looks good, false bottom about +100mm. given it a go shortly, my GTR need a wash. Especially as it's not long been polished so I certainly don't want to scratch it. Tango your the man.

How Do I Remove Dry Polish From Paint?
nobby replied to blue_vl_t's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Sound's like to much polish cut back amount and do smaller sections at a time. Have a clean dry rag handy to remove this as you go, don't let the over spray dry for to long at all. Think the cleaning compounds in the polish bite into paint, then dry and there's the problem. May be try, as polisher starts up slide it along panel a bit to spread polish a bit, so less for it to fling off at start-up. Cheers. -
A Very Good Idea Buddy. a little time to save heap of time polishing. Pat yourself on the back. may be simple but improved upon . Need 2 buckets, you cut a section out of 1 that will slip inside the other, depth is up to you. you then throw/cover this with coarse fly screen and insert into other bucket, screen side first. It simply jams itself in place. only reason is less surface area for grit to sit on, so it falls threw, in theory. This is a modified version of a filter I made for sand blasting, bigger foreign pieces block pick up. I've even filtered bulk Rd marking paint with this, removed dry skin off top. next time you replace a fly screen keep a piece, or cheap at Bunnings by the mtr. It reminded me of the filter I already have and can modify. don't let anyone laugh at the lengths you go to, to look after your drive. Good one Tango.

I Stupidly Bought Repairable Write Off Unknowingly
nobby replied to blaylock's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Buddy if your that concerned, try and find out which insurance company wrote the car off and see if ya can get the details, not saying you can do this but to me this isn't a breach of privacy, so can't see why it can't be done. Be warned you may not like what you find out,and then again it may be nothing major only cost of repair related. AND SOMEONE HAS TO SAY THIS. And I bet you'll have no problem passing it onto the next unsuspecting person, your just going through the emotional state of feeling duped. that's life. But bear in mind a repairable write off is exactly that, legally repairable by law. That's why rev's exist. You knew better that's why you were going to ring rev's in the first place but choose not to. a dead phone, come on who doesn't have access to another phone!! pls. I'm sorry you feel ripped off but you had the chance to find out for your self. Again that's life. some lessons are hard to swallow, mate you let yourself down. -
Mate that noise you mention is lack of vacume in pc system, check for blockages. smoke, you may still have oil residue in fmic. could even be a bit rich hence the smoke. cat on way out. crap au fuel. any number of things.
-
you may find the rad core is not capable of decent air flow hence poor cooling. its about effiencey. N1 pump has larger fins and backing plate to cut down on cavitation, turbulence within pump housing, If your hanging high rev's frequently then, maybe pulley size can be changed to slow pump a bit and give the water a chance to cool, before it's returned to engine from rad. lots can be done, speak with a pro about it, fix should = reliability.

Hard plastic like blinkers just use car polish. I've even used fine w/dry on em and then polished good as new. There's a product called "Plexus" I think it's called. Spray a little and wipe/polish it in. It fills fine scratches to, bit pricey , works, and protective. bias boating have it. Had the can a few yrs now it goes a long way. I use this on dash gauges after I spent 2 hrs removing scratches with polish. And now don't cringe every time I clean them. I even use it on CD and DVD. All good.

Magnetic/plastic P Plate Stuck On Boot.
nobby replied to S3RK's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Some olive oil might work -
Yeah mate it does fairly good job. Had you used it first up you would be dissapointed. It doesn't cut very well, if your doing it by hand it's a lot of work. You realy need to cut first before you think about using Nu-finish The water spot bit you mention sound about right. To be honest it's a good product,I've used it for years but doesn't shine/glow deeply like say Mothers.

R31 Tailshaft Vibration
nobby replied to The_Modern_Greaser's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yep all the rotating parts have worn-in one way and changing the angles has upset it. It can look ok but angles don't need to change much. Or for that matter even new parts may wear quicker in the altered setup. I agree with the boys miss-alignment causing vib. -
