Anybody Used The Fmic With Same Sided Entry And Exit?
QRI05E replied to benl1981's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The idea of a same side twin entry/exit FMIC seems like an excellent option for a few reasons: - Easy to plumb back to stock piping - Air has twice the distance to cool down (reffer to diagram) - Lag time shouldn't be noticed due to having 2 x narrower cores rather then 1 large core The down side i see is: - Loss in throttle responce due to much longer air travel route - Too many sharp bends the air travels through - Turbulance in end tanks Regards, Sarkis -

Black Fmic Kit - Anodizing Vs Powder Coating Vs Painting
QRI05E replied to QRI05E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Every FMIC expert i spoke to (PLAZMAMAN) said that paint will affect the cooling properties and will insulate the heat in an intercooler. Radiators are made from copper that’s why they need paint to prevent corrosion. All aluminium radiators are raw and not painted... Anodising is the only method known to not effect cooling properties... for $130 its worth it IMO. Results & Pics Soon... Cheers -
Black Fmic Kit - Anodizing Vs Powder Coating Vs Painting
QRI05E replied to QRI05E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I just dropped my FMIC kit to the Anodizers... $130 to anodise the whole kit in matt black... will post up the pics once i get it back later this week. Cheers -
UniGroup use an ECU called TSI which is made in Australia. TSI are the makers of FPV (Ford Performance Vehicle) ECU's in all the XR6T, Typhoon, GTP .etc. Its on their site. Personally for a big build i would use CRD. They offer excellent service and proven performance. For a tune I will always use J.E.M cause i have delt with them many times in the past and Adam has always delivered the best results. Even ask BU5TER his R33 was tuned by J.E.M @ 441rw/kw with 1/4 mile time of 10.5 @ 130 MPH. Cheers

The Next Ecu To Dominate The Sau Community?
QRI05E replied to pear's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yea your right with that paul, i heard that MAP sensor based ECU usually have poorer fuel economy compared to AFM based ECU's due to more load points... Thanks for clearing that up! Cheers -
Help Power Loss After Powerfc Install
QRI05E replied to juls33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
$1000 for just a tune? My gosh i would be pissed! $500 - $600 is the usual price for a full tune... $450 G.B at J.E.M for a full tune if your in Sydney... The Apexi PFC comes with a base tune that is made to plug in, start and drive.. meaning if your car is worse then before, its either: - Poor tune - Dying part (Fuel pump or AFM) My advise would be to take it to a reputable tuner, get them to put it on the dyno and diagnose the problem before you end up needing a rebuild. PM me if your from sydney... got a Dyno Day coming up soon... for $50 its the cheapest insurance for your engine... Cheers -
The Next Ecu To Dominate The Sau Community?
QRI05E replied to pear's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Apexi Power FC has to be the best value for money ECU for Skylines if you can get your hands on one. However it too has limitations due to MAF/AFM prerequesit. A MAP sensor based ECU will handle higher power levels with more accuracy from what i have read. I personally dont like the idea of an interceptor type aka piggy back systems cause your only fudging the signals that the ECU recieves. So for stand-alone ECU's my research has lead me to the conclusion that the following would be my order of preference due to cost Vs value: 1. Apexi PFC (Plug & Play) - AFM 2. Haltech E11v2 (Plug & Play) - MAP Sensor 3. EMS 8860 (Wire in) - MAP Sensor 4. Autronic (Plug & Play) - MAP Sensor 5. Motech (Wire in) - MAP Sensor Cheers -

Rb25 Hi-flowed Turbo
QRI05E replied to jazza08's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Honestly that doesnt look like a high flow especially from the exhaust wheel... theres plenty of meat there to be machined for it to become a highflow... looks like a VG30 comp and RB25 ex with steel wheels at most... Got a receipt for the "high flow"? Cheers -
Looks like the 24th is official Dyno Day... any objections?

you might get 220 - 230rw/kw out of the stock injectors but you will need a rising rate FPR and your duty cycle will be close to maxing out... I dont recommend you max them out too much otherwise you will be looking for an engine rebuild... Strongly recommend a Z32 AFM over the stock.. For Injectors ($555) + Z32 AFM ($250 - $300) will unlock approx 20 - 40rw/kw with a high flow GCG + tune... Do it once, do it right or dont do it at all... Cheers
-
If you currently have a PFC + Boost controller + Full 3" exhaust +GCG high flow... you need: - Split dump/screamer front pipe (10 - 15rw/kw gain over 3" bell mouth) - Z32 AFM - Deatschwerks 555cc injectors ($555 delivered) - Walbro intank pump ($300 supply & fitted) or Nismo/Tomei ($370) - CRD/Just Jap FMIC kit ($350) If your engine & turbo are healthy + decent tune then you should be seeing 240 - 260rw/kw Cheers
-
Oh ok, i was just going by Pauls website... so Z32 AFM then hehe Thanks heaps guys
-
So the Z32 maxes out at approx 250rw/kw in the R33... Im aiming for approx 270rw/kw... I might need a Q45 AFM Any suggestions?
-
Ahh ok thanks guys, appreciate all the help! Cheers
-
hahah i tried searching for +Z32 +AFM +R33 and it didnt let me cause 3 characters and under so i tried +Z32 +AFM +Airbox and no luck with any of the posts... So if the Z32 AFM is the same size as the R33, how can it handle up to 500Hp? i thought the diameter and airbox adaptor is larger then the R33. Cheers
-
As the topic states, is there anyway for a Z32 AFM to fit an R33 GTSt Factory Airbox? Or is a POD + CAI my only option? Im trying to keep the car looking as stock as possible. Cheers

Hey guys, im after an Apexi PFC with H/C in immacuate condition. Im not fussed if its tuned or not cause it will be getting a re-tune. I can get one for $1200 Brand New with 12 months warranty so im willing to pay up to $1000 for a used unit depending on the condition and age. Please PM me cause i never check the WTB section. Regards, Sarkis

Deatchswerks have supplied thousands of automotive customers through out the years and they seem to be providing a high quality, reliable and excellent priced product. There are many 800 - 1000Hp machines using Deatschwerks 1100+cc high flow injectors without a problem... When ng on the "shaved" injector theory, the standard RB25DET injectors flowed at approx 720cc with the entire pintle cap removed, therefore a 550 to 720cc highflow is more then capable for the stock injectors. Cheers

The E6X can be used as a stand-alone however its idle control and cold start isnt as good as the E11v2 thats why it used as a piggy back... thats what i ment... besides its made for 4 cyl application and isnt sequential injection anyways... Cheers
