I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
QRI05E replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey guys, i have made a VERY easy to follow step by step procedure with colour photos to install the turbotech as a word file... PM me if your intrested and i can send it to you... Took me 5 min to fit it! 4min and 30 sec to remove the vacumme hose of the T piece (stuck on) then 30 sec to fit the Turbotech! Cheers -
I totaly agree Busky! as long as you run a decent synthetic oil with regular change (5000kms or every 3 months) your engine will love you for it! I will post up my experiance with RP when i get a chance to change my oil hopfully this week.. Cheers

hmmm sounds more fuel related... try the fuel filter with injector cleaner idea... and see how you go... cheers

The most common cause of misfiring in skylines (RB motors) is usually caused by: - Coil Packs - Spark Plugs but some more info is needed to pin point the problem... - Is the misfiring felt during acceleration or deceleration? - Does the car misfire/stutter on idle? - Does the car misfire/stutter when cold/hot? Another cause could be injectors or fuel filter... bad batch of fuel perhaps? water in the tank? My recommendation would be to: - Read the Misfire thread and check your coil packs for any scorch marks or hairline cracks... (can be repaired with silicone) - Check you plugs and make sure their not fouled up... If all seems fine... then - Change fuel filter and run a good quality injector cleaner with fresh batch of premium fuel... take for a good drive on the high way... let us know how you go... Cheers, Sarkis

Its only selected Autobarns... however you can get RP from the following in Vic Eagle Auto Spares 92 South Gippsland Hwy DANDENONG 03 9793 5544 Sanmateo Performance Systems 19-21 Ninth Street MILDURA 03 5023 7559 Cheers, Sarkis

not the salesman... but every one i have asked... every performance mechanic and tuner have recommended RP over Mobil 1 and other high end oils... even the wholesale rep who i spoke to today that sells Redline, RP and Motul to Autobarn and Repco... recommended the RP over the other oils he sells... If you read back, even i was confused to which oil to buy... and i was about to get Mobil 1... but then after a few phone calls and few emails.. i have been advised differently... Please done get me wrong... Mobil 1 Gold is a great oil but for its price... you better get RP which is race bread and proven... as i said before... its horses for courses... what works for one engine may not work for another... Cheers

I personally wouldn't... even though they recommend it... oil would be oxidized/burnt (black) by 5000 - 6000kms... especially in a hard driven turbo charged engine... I'll be changing my oil every 5000kms with Royal Purple... 10W40 If it seems bit pricey then just get any decent synthetic oil such as Pennzoil or Pernrite SIN and change every 5000kms or 3 months... I personally think its more important to service your car regularly with decent oil rather then using the best oil and leaving it for 10,000kms... but for me, the price difference wasnt that much between the Castrol or Mobil 1 and the RP... Considering that any work shop will charge between $99 - $150 for a service (oil/filter) and probably use some cheap dino oil... i would rather spend $75 - $80 on the best synthetic oil (Royal Purple) and $5 for a cooper oil filter and bout 15min of DIY in the garage Cheers

First of all Welcome to SAU... Both these oils are one of the best on the market, however Red Line in my opinion and the opinion of other mech/tuners I have spoken to, is over priced and not nearly as good as RP... I just bought a 5L jug of RP 10W40 for my oil change and have found them at the following outlets: Peps Auto - $75 Autobarn - $89 (will price match) Click on this URL to direct you to the RP Distributor list Australia wide... http://www.royalpurple.com.au/html/s04_ser...ices&dsb=25 P.S for future references, use the search button cause there is HEAPS of info already discussed on this site... ENJOY! Regards, Sarkis

Well i got it for a TOO good price cause its my mates shop hehe... and the RRP is $89 from Autobarn... i saw them for $75 at Peps auto... im sure any Autobarn will price match... call around... still a 100 times better then any Mobil, Castrol and Valvoline! RP are real good... one of the best! Mobil 1 GOLD 0W40 ($80) isnt too bad but is a group IV.... where RP is group V ($75) Cheers
-
Ok guys, I emailed Royal Purple, regarding the grade/quality/group of their oils and they stated that they use a group V base and the rest is their Synerlec technology which has proven itself over and over again... even my mate's auto shop oil supplier who sells Motul, Red Line and RP said that RP was the best oil he has ever sold and used on his R33 GTR ~290aw/kw! Horses for courses I guess... Today i picked up a 5L jug of Royal Purple 10W40 from Autobarn along with a Cooper oil filter... and hopfully ill get a chance this week to change the oil and will post the results... Cheers, Sarkis

Well if its a fluid sound, it wouldn't be from your intercooler... are you losing boost pressure? if not then it sounds like something is causing it from your radiator system... how is the temp gauge? getting hot? might be a blockage or bent hose and making hard for the coolant to pass? Cheers

During my break at uni today I managed to take a quick trip down to Peps and Super Cheap... This is what I found (all are in 5L jugs): Mobil 1 5W50 - $69 Mobil 1 GOLD 10W30 - $79 Royal Purple 10W40 (at Peps) - $75 Royal Purple 5W30 (at Peps) - $72 Castrol EDGE 0W40 - $70 Castrol EDGE 5W30 - $49 Valvoline SynPower 5W40 - $45 Wouldn't the choice go to Royal Purple for the high range? and the Valvoline Synpower for the low range? What you think guys? or am i going around in circles chasing my tail? lol I wouldn't mind spending $75 for the Royal Purple, but considering i change my Oil/Filter every 5000kms I think the Valvoline or Castrol for $45 - $50 would be a good choice... Cheers, Sarkis

Aghhhhh! I can't find the Mobil 1 - 0W40 anywhere! is it the same as Mobil 1 Gold? Spare part shops are quoting me $80 - $90 for 5L... That’s bit much IMO A few performance shops recommended to try Valvoline SynPower 5W40 and they swear by it... A motor oil test comparison showed that the Valvoline SynPower was up there with Mobil 1 and in some cases better then Castrol... http://www.synthetic-oil-online.com/10W30API.htm The site is bias "propaganda" for AMSOIL but shows a fair comparison beween the other oils... Any one used Valvoline SynPower?? I think at the end of the day, as long as you use a decent grade/quality of synthetic oil.. with regular intervals (5000kms/3 month) oil & filter change, your car will run purrrfect... Any oppinions would be greatly appreciated! Regards, Sarkis

im sure its not too hard to modify the stock bracket to fit the Z32 filter... Yea i didnt think it would do much difference performance wise between both filters... Cheers
-
I have read up on a few other forums that by using Z32 fuel filter has less restriction which "apparently" makes the car little more responsive... there is a definite size difference between the OEM and Z32 filter but how true can this be? Picture courtesy of Alex Au Regards, Sarkis

Yea those GK Tech FMIC kits have had some good feed back... Although the CRD tub/fin FMIC kit for $375 is comming soon... seems pretty close to the HYBRID GT Spec... Any of those kits will do fine... Cheers, Sarkis

So why would you choose Mobil 1 over Castrol EDGE? What are the benifits/differences? Cheers, Sarkis

Where are you located?? Where is Carindale? -
Thanks Trex... seems like the way to go... Any other opinions? What you guys think about NULON?? Cheers, Sarkis
-
Oh yea another thing... why is there such a price differnece between Castrol EDGE 5W30 ($49/5L) and Castrol EDGE 0W40 ($70/5L)??? Is there any differences in quality? grade? Cheers, Sarkis

Hey Fellas, after hours of reading and researching i am LOST!!! On first service, I used Castrol R and wasn't anything special... then on my second service my mate who owns a spare parts shop recommended i use Nulon 10W40 Fully Synth Oil ($50/5L)... The car felt much smoother in acceleration than the Castrol... But i heard the Castrol EDGE is supposed to be much better... http://www.nulon.com.au/products.php?productId=syn10w40 What you think about Nulon Oil? What group is it? I'm tossing up between either: - Castrol EDGE 0W40 ($70/5L @ Supercheap) - Nulon 10W40 ($50/5L @ Mates shop) - Mobil 1 0W40 ($50/5L @ Supercheap) Car: R33 RB25DET, 70,000kms, Daily driving, ocassional run... Please Help!! Cheers, Sarkis

Hey Dude, I think it all comes down to what power figure your chasing and if your car is going to be used for street, drift or drag... For street use with a mild modded R33/R34... the $350 FMIC (bar/plate)kits will be more then enough... anything from 10 - 20 psi IMO CRD are getting a new tube/fin FMIC kit from what i read in the traders section so you should keep an eye out for that... should be at a good price too.. Cheers, Sarkis

Speco 2" Boost Gauge $29
QRI05E replied to Reckless Motor Sport's topic in For Sale (Business Traders)
I bought one of these little babies from Supercheap for $50... So $29 for this boost gauge is a massive 40% discount! It works perfectly and looks real good especially if you already have white/EL dials… Just as advice, the light globe isnt too crash hot at night so I replaced mine with a blue led and it looks better then any gauge have seen at night! Cheers
