  1. Exactly Paul! As if a custom 3" CAI with a fully sealed POD enclosure isnt going to give you a much better air flow/suction then the standard box! Of coarse it will...
  2. Hey guys, pretty intresting to see all different CAI systems but to spent $180 - $250 just on the CAI then + $100 for a decent POD is bit over my budget... Im going to start researching into different materials that could be used to make my CAI design.. I like the PVC funnel idea... quite creative! would love to hear some moe ideas Cheers
  3. How much they selling that set up Sydneykid? Where can I buy it from?? Cheers
  4. Thanks Mads... I will defiantly build a CAI after my FMIC install and I think this will be the best design so far... I personally wouldn’t cut a hole on the bottom but rather add an additional intake pipe Cheers
  5. I'm pretty sure if you went 4" or even 5" it would be more then adequate air supply for the POD... Either way its a MUCH more flowing design then the factory air box... Even use mandrel bends with the intake pipe to allow more flow... By sealing off the POD in my design, you will prevent any hot air being sucked in therefore your air source is outside the engine bay... not to mention it makes it legal... Cheers
  6. Common guys, this is a once in a life time opportunity! When are you ever going to find an excellent quality FMIC kit with EVERYTHING needed to install for $400?? Even if after 12 months it stuffs up just replace the core for a name brand and use the same piping!!! you will save $$$ either way... Regards, Sarkis
  7. I know most of you are going to think I have too much time on my hands, and now with uni holidays I DO! Since im waiting to receive my FMIC Kit, I been searching and pondering a method of making a CAI system using a pod that is also legal! I have read 100's of threads on partitions and home made air boxes but not one of them tickled my fancy. So i have put pen to paper (mouse to mouse pad ) and thought of a very easy, simple yet efficient closed CAI system... What you guys think??? This should be legal (in NSW) cause the Pod is covered right?? Please feel free to critique Regards, Sarkis
  8. I swapped it for a 75mm (3 ") hole saw... all sweet now Thanks for all your input fellas!
  9. Good to hear mick! $11 for silicon beats $900 for coil packs
  10. hmmm i think he was wanting to remove the FRONT bumper bar if im not mistaken
  11. Oh ok i get it now... Ill see tomorrow if they will exchange it for me.. otherwise im going to use a 92mm hole
  12. Hahaha im 100% going to make a detailed DIY Tutorial with pics once i fit the kit to help all the other poor bastards in my shoes lol im hoping it will turn out like this beauty...
  13. Yea if i was to take the hole any closer to the front it would bring the crossover pipe close to the blades and also throw the mounting bracket out off alignment with the engine head.. Im pretty sure if i follow the HYBRID guide it will all line up sweetly...
  14. Any suggestions guys??? should i stick with the 92mm hole saw or get a 75mm hole saw??? Cheers
  15. This is the diagram from the HYBRID install guide.. if i raise the center by a few cm it should clear the 92mm hole... lol well lets hope so I wouldn't want to move the hole so the cross pipe doesn't hit the fan blades which will be clipped.. i think i should save myself the head ache and just get a 75mm hole saw...
  16. Here is a pic of a 3" (75mm) hole saw cut... im pretty sure a 3 5/8" (92mm) will fit in the same position but will just miss the washer bottle... 17mm difference Cheers
  17. Yea but i dun want it too tight either... You think it should be fine with a 92mm hole saw???
  18. Yea might just go and exchange it for a 75mm (3 inch) hole saw... But few people have said its a tight fit with 3" and others say 3 1/2 is too big... and when i dummy fit the 3 5/8" hole saw it seemed alright... :
  19. They should be the same however im not a big fan of the SMIC piping route... Check out the group buy on the Gktech FMIC Kit for $400!!! comes with 600 x 300 x 76 bar/plate FMIC, all piping, clamps, nuts n bolts too... and not to mention is Brand New with 12 month warranty!!! its a bargain! Fits perfectly on R32's http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=120149 Cheers
  20. Haha thanks Madz... i read in a few threads that 3 1/2 inch was too big im worried that my 3 5/8 hole will be too big too... but it seemed fine when dummy fitting it under the washer bottle... i dunno mate Cheers
  21. Hey guys, i purchased a hole saw to cut the piping hole under the washer bottle and to be safe i asked the sales person at bunnings for 3 1/2 inch so the FMIC pipes dont scrape or rattle... they gave me a 92mm which turned out to be 3 5/8 inch... I placed the hole saw over where I need to make the hole and it JUST scrapes under the washer bracket.. in other words the hole will clear the washer bottle but just barely... Is that too big?? I know most people use 3" but what other sizes you guys use? Not bothered returning it Cheers

  23. 2.5" piping is more then enough... it will keep turbo lag to a minimum as well as give you an even flow with your stock intake pipe... The FMIC core flow is what will cool the air and give you best perfoemance... Have a look at the Gktech FMIC kit in the group buy section... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=120149 Best value for money! Cheers
  24. Dezz.. please check your PM Cheers
  25. $650 for a second hand GTR FMIC fitted is too much... would much rather spend $630 and buy the HYBRID GT Spec FMIC kit an at least its new with 12 months warranty... I think the Gktech FMIC kit for $400 is a bargain and will do the job better then the GTR FMIC... Thats my 2 cents...
