  1. If you have your own small business, can you write off train tickets, shoe reciepts, plane tickets on tax?
  2. Well Toyota is known for reliability so hopefully this little rolla is just as good I really like the engine note for the 1.8 litre... sounds pretty tough for a stock car and kicks really well too. if I could strip down the weight... would be even better. Actually I own the base model ascent... the avatar pic aint mine... but I do plan to put HID kit into it.
  3. Fair points. Ill go higher weight ratio and stick with Mobil.
  4. No probs mate! I got one near my house so its convenient walking distance! I count the days until I can afford to buy another sports car though... lol Hopefully within the next 4-5 years I can pay for a new GTR
  5. I put V power as I have a small incentive under my sleeve and get better deal that way... I average around 7.7 litres per 100 KM atm but it went as low as 7.2 litres, freeway and normal 60 km/h zone driving. I rang Toyota to do a service (oil change and filter) and they quoted me something around $200 or so (that's with me supplying the oil and oil filter)... I thought "stuff that" and called Ultratune, they quoted me $90 bucks if I supplied oil and filter. I went with Ultratune as I still have another 2 years of warranty left. As soon as my car loses warranty (its 2007 model) I will do the oil changes myself.
  6. Is it about the same price as Mobil 0w-40? I want to use quality synth oil for my rolla
  7. Does Mobil1 have 5w-30 weight?
  8. Hi all, Used to have a Skyline a while back but had to "grow" up and get myself a 4 cyl new shape corolla as its cheaper to run and drinks less fuel. Its also a lot more boring to drive but what can you do, Ill save quicker for a new GTR Anyway my question is this: is Mobil 1 0w-40 Gold oil good for a vvti 4 cyl Corolla engines? I heard that Toyota recommends 10w-30 or 5w-30... IMO its too thick on start up. ??
  9. My GF leases one through work and Prius is a great car. We easily get 1000 KMs to a full tank. It drinks next to nothing in local streets and has fairly good go if you push it. The petrol kicks in when you want it to (rev high). The looks of the car grow on you... it looked average to me but now that has changed and I dont mind it at all. Speaking of looks, Id never be caught driving a Nissan Micra... now that is ugly.
  10. Hey mate, you got two nice cars, but what about the bricks and mortar?
  11. Skylines and financial future should not be put in the same sentence together. Seriously, if you want to have minimal car running costs buy a Toyota Corolla or Yaris/Echo. If you want a quick weekend car that gets driven occasionally and not everyday then a turbo skyline is fine, more exp if GTR. If you are a regular track goer and do want to push the car to the limits, then your wallet will take a big hit. Can you fork out a few grand if your engine goes capoot? What about changing tyres? you need to know that you have enough cash on the side for emergency situs. If you want to buy a Skyline for around 14 K and thats all you have, but you also want to modify it and cane it, Id save up more dough before buying it.
  12. 12-14 litres for a stock auto R33 turbo. I got just under 600 KMs out of a tank once driving long distance. They can be quiet good on petrol but still nothing compared to my corolla
  13. About a year and a half ago I saw a red Ferrari 360 parked at the Sunshine cinemas (safeway) car park. I asked why he parked there with such a car and he said that he needed some booze lol This was around 8 pm though and I think he came back soon after. But yeah Sunshine and surrounding areas are shit.
  14. I have just sold my R33 GTST, bought a house and bought a new corolla (2nd hand). I am doing it tough financially at the moment but have more than one income coming in and trying to be smart with money. If business goes well I plan on looking at buying a second hand R35 GTR (weekender) within 5 years hopefully. Maybe a bit more, depends how much the car will be.

If you drive 10ks a week, do you really need a car? And yes if you dont own your car outright, forget the mortgage.

Your literally throwing money out the window every time you drive... Sell it or buy a cheap daily and keep the GTR for the weekends.

I guess for many there is a phase where they waste money on cars and other (usually useless) stuff... been there, done that...for some that extends well into their 30s... for myself, it finished when I was 27, although I got my first car (R33 Skyline GTST) when I was turning 26

Don't be so naive, buy a house elsewhere, if you offer 200 K and they get 300 K for it, who do you think they will choose to sell it too? If I was them I wouldnt even think twice about 300 K.

I would loved to live at home still... Im 28 lol Id have a Skyline (or even a better car), a house (live there for 6 months, get the first home buyers then move back home) and Id be saving to go travelling around the world... Too bad for me, my folks moved interstate when I was only 22 yo so since then I had to manage on my own and save for everything alone which is great but can be tough. If you can still live at home, buy that house, get the FHOG and then rent it out.
