  1. Homosexuals? An AUTO BF typhoon is currently the quickest 1/4 mile and 0-100 KM/H Aussie muscle car available! It beats manuals with more KW hands down... this not only goes for Falcons but for HSVs and even some Euros also! In a drag I rather an auto, with twisties then manual... Putty, if you want an auto tip tronic then go for it...
  2. For a coupe turbo R34 you will need at least 25 K for an auto, up to 28 for a manual.
  3. I suggest you drive one until you learn how to drive period. 17 yo kid + GTT=
  4. If money was no object Id definately grab the R34 coupe but other than that like I said R33 II.
  5. Well it means... dont park where another vehicle has easy access from the front or from the back.
  6. i guess if you can buy a 35+ K car then you can afford the insurance... tell you what though if I get this skyline Im gonna be locking it up, double locking it up... tripple locking it up!!
  7. Any car can be stolen All it takes is a couple of blokes and a truck...
  8. Well actually many cars leak oil, even new ones. Just all depends how much it is to fix it.
  9. Where did you get yours from?
  10. Yeah I will have to get it rechecked by RACV again, its like 75 bucks. Also the car has 12 month warranty as long as you service every 6 K and no engine mods.
  11. Yeah R33 II is very sexy with a stock kit even... series 1 is average from the front, I do liek their curvy spiler though... I personally hate the GTR R33 spoiler... looks like a cardboard box... lol
  12. Well the report came today... there is a need to catalytic converter to be changed (i think its cos of Australian compliance) also the engine has oil leaks which needs immidiate attention according to RACV. I told the car yard and they are meant to fix it up this and next week. I told them unles they fix it Im not getting it. Shoukd I bargain on the price now since theres a few things wrong with it? Also it drifts slightly to the left when driving so wheel balance is needed. Leak down test is to see what leaks like the oil??
  13. There is a video by Top Gear in the 80s, they went to Japan to look at their car industry etc... let me tel lyou that the fastest speed they drove on the streets back in the 80s was like 20 km/h lol Now its 2006... I think forget about driving in Japan...unles you on Okinawa or some other distant island! Thats why Japs are more into in car entertainment like karaoke... Mind you cars that do 20 Km/h daily live for less than their counter parts that do 60 Ks!
  14. BTW the car hasnt been complianced yet! I heard they need to change catalytic converter when they compliance it... im just worired about oil leaks from the engine on a car thats meant to have done 27000 km...
  15. I just got RACV report for the skyline from SEI... They gave it "CAUTION" (out of Go, Caution and Stop) for the following reasons: BTW the car is meant to have done 27,000km! Engine: leaking oil. (biggest problem) also catalytic converter needs to be replaced. Tranny is good. Body: minor dents, no major damage. What you reckon?
  16. I need some perspective on this from many SAU members. We all know that imported cars are NOT what they are... they mislead buyers into thinking that the car has done such and such Ks when the car has done probably twice if not more... at the end of the day is it really worth the effort and trouble buying an imported car since there is such a big risk?? Im currently in the process of buying a skyline if all goes well with RACV and my friend mechanic wholl check the car after also, but at the moment its like im sitting on pins and needles.. "what if the car is dodgy", "what if RACV overlook a few things etc"... its not a nice feeling and I presume when you buy local cars you dont go through so much BS... but in all of this I know that Japanese cars are better built for ex than Ford or Holden... and I see many new Falcon/Commodore buyers curse how their new car is having so many problems and they have to take it back to the dealer to rectify the problem with warranty... now with imports... is this a similar case or is the majority of lemons dont get through to our shores?? Opinions? Comments?
  17. I was unable to get my friend mechanic to look at it as he has a workshop in Brunswick but the car is in Dandenong. But after RACV check the car and if they OK it, ill take the car to him and do another inspection to confirm what they said... if anything is dodgy its back to the car yard to fix the problems or money back.
  18. Na its SEI. Ill call them and see if the mechanic is available for a chat etc.
  19. "Swedish car maker SAAB built the world's first commercially available turbo powered engine. The Saab 99 Turbo was presented at the IAA motor show in Frankfurt, Germany, and went on sale as the 1978 model." http://www.scandinavica.com/culture/famous/inventions.htm Japanese cant create new stuff themselves, they usually look to their European counter parts and remake an already existing product into something better.
  20. Yeah the bit with the odometer reading... So is it often and usual for the Japs to "strip" the car and just sell it stockish to the auction rather than selling it with all the goodies?
  21. Well I booked it so they are doing it tomorrow, then fax the details the next day. I rang via their direct number and got connected to the department. The car is in Dandenong so they the nearest RACV place is at Cheltenham... the car yard guy has agreed to drive it there on Wednesday... although the car is not complianced yet. Im an RACV member so it cost me 215... but they should do a major test... host it up etc, for non mbers its closer to 280. Ill let you know at the end of the week how it all goes.
  22. The car Im looking at has had its dash removed (from Nizmo to stock). The car sales guy wasnt clear as to why?
  23. Why is this so common with skylines?? I dont see this in newish Commodores at all... well not as common as on Skylines.
