Im currently looking at buying a car from SEI, but from reading what you guys wrote on here Im getting scared... The car im looking at seems nice on the inside, cept the odometer is dodgy with only 2000 KM on it with 25,000 KM claimed from japan so all up 27000 km. That car dealer claimed hell give me 12 month worranty, I paid a deposit for the car and will now get someone to look at it and do full diagnostics. I also signed the paper for the car (f**ken stupid I think ) but it has 'Subject to test" clause in it.. meaning that if I am unhappy with something then I dont have to purchase it. Ok now I feel like crap...

With us, it was because me and my bro were sick of losing those plastic rim covers. At one time in Taylors Lakes Vic some asswipe STOLE the original Holden rim covers that were CHIPPED and SCRATCHED After buying another set of rim covers and then losing one again, we got sick of it, so my brother painted the original wheels silver and found some silver hub caps to go over the bolts from his dad's in law work (Police station). Now it looks mint and so easy to look after.

Ive got those on my brother's VS wagon... looks pretty good I reckon. But this VL is missing those plastic hubs that go over the interceptor rim in the middle to cover the nuts... those complete the look

Yeah some skylines have this snad blasted look with headlights... looks average. Do you need to take off the head light covers or just clean over the top?

The car im looking at has done over 100,000 KM and the owner said that he has not changed the timing belt... I know you gotta change it after 100K, but how much is it?

Well in my bro's car you still need a key to drive the car as the only thing that is working is the engine...

I dont drive a Skyline yet but my brother has a commodore and he installed a remote start on it. You can start the car from inside the house, the range is around 5 meters, great for cold mornings or if running late

Ive got a family friend who is a mechanic so I might and try him to do it. With priv and dealer cars, can I request to take the car during the week or weekend into the workshop to get it checked?? I know that if the guy selling the car refuses then something is wrong with it...so I can walk away.

Thanks. A couple of questions: where can I do the compression testing for the car? How is the whole process done/how much? Regarding the change of the timing belt (every 100,000 KMs) do I just ask if he has done it and if he has, ask him to show me the receipt etc? Sorry for newbie questions... I never bought a car before.

Is 100,000 KM on II R33 GTS-T still good or is it pushing it? When do rebuilds of an engine come into place? I spotted a nice looking Skyline but with 100,000 on the clock... Opinions?

Another car yard related question, if the car is around about 16000 mark... how easy is it to drop it down to 15 or even 14,500?? Can someone tell me some true stories when dealing with car yard sales men?
