The Best Advertise On Billboard I've Ever Seen!
ebola replied to West's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah, was a great add... It'd be good if they could do a 'group A' - dunno bout all you old geezers, but I was too young to see anything. I don't like the 2 horse race. both teams approach it from the same angle (is red paint or blue paint faster, and if we put a white line on the car, will it corner better?) Toyota could race the 4000 cc mill (or even 4500), as the rules are maximum size, not minimum. They might even make the same power (well, if they were truly "stock", anyway). my 2c... -
Ditto. was going to post almost the same thing. R33's are common enough, you should be able to get what you want for a decent price - including a radio and speakers. or you could get an R32 (plug). but its your choice to get what you want. walk away. good luck on finding a new car. you shouldn't need it, but you can have it anyway.

I'm no expert (sadly), but I can answer one. just pop the fuse. I have a gts4, and one day (when a drift day in not on a sunday), I'll actually make it, and all I'll be doing is pulling the fuse. oh - and using other tyres. When it was trying to pull in, was that with the fuse out? if not, it would be the front wheels. with 250 kW at the wheels, while I am sure every gram helps, I doubt you will be having issues losing traction. I'd suggest that unless you are serious, just remove the spare, tools, etc. hope I haven't led you up the garden path.

So I've Decided To Import An R32
ebola replied to Kozeyekan's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
What scheme is the car being imported under? It makes a difference. from memory, RAWS requires *stock* cars... and I am sure that if the rims arn't stock, they will be able to tell. perhaps you could get the rims / tyres and borrow a friends (or if you are really nice, a forum members) stockies... I don't think you need a receipt from the new tyres (and if you do, I doubt it will say R17) I imported my gts-4 under the (expired) 15 y.o. rule, and I used an agent, so any advice I have on the import process will probably be out of date. try talking to J-Spec about this. if they are as good as people say, they should be able to answer your questions. hope thats a little help -
It't probably be cheaper than replacement vents... seriously though, I reckon it'd be a good idea. anyone done it? or is the concept of putting a hole in the vent system overly evil? Would it be legal (if not, why not)? aside from being a little small, I'd like a boost gague in my car... heh.

fair 'nuff not what I wanted to hear, but it does make sense. hmf. makes it easier, though. fmic is now on the shopping list (as opposed to the wish list)

How Do I Tell What My Spring Rates Are?
ebola replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have a stock gts4 (4 door, if it makes a difference), and was wondering what the front / back spring rates are. I'll measure it when I get home, but even thought I couldn't find the info, I wouldn't be surprised if someone knew off the top of their head. I'll edit this post to include measurements tomorrow, if I don't get an answer. thanks EDIT: Thanks. Should have realised it would be a rims off job, so I was gonna do it tonight, or on the weekend. ~2.9 kg/mm... thanks -
How long is it reading 6psi? No boost gauge, but my turbo doesn't have time to spool properly in first. But it scoots in 2nd.

I have this idea about a "return inercooler". I still have this idea about a "return intercooler". rather than getting a 600 X 300 intercooler, getting 2 600 X 150 intercoolers and mounting them one on top of the other. then you loop sone side back to itself. You now have a 600 X 300 intercooler with inlet / outlet on the same side. This is only an idea, so some comments, criticisms, etc would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to do it, if only to be different. I figure it will save a little piping, too.

Attessa 4wd Help Plz! Bleeding...
ebola replied to oRiCLe's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
<bump> I wanna bleed the attessa in my car. It doesn't look terribly complicated, but I would *really* appreciate a couple of pics in a "howto" thread. Oh - make sure you include a suggestion (or three) about appropriate replacement fluid. I just don't quite have the confidence to try it without pics. Thanks nK nicholas Krul -
I use premium or an ethanol blend fuel. If I don't, I get (audible) pinging. If you don't mind the risk, you could duplicate the experiment. Boring old ULP, 2nd gear and full throttle to (almost) redline. Um, offstreet or pulling onto a freeway for legalitys sake. Mr Italy! is right. just tell him your car will ping, and then tell him how much a new engine (plus labour) will cost. Its like insurance, only alot more fun.

Ooh, it will come in the mail, have no fear of that. and about fixed speed cameras angle of incidence - since it a fixed angle, is should be easy to offset the angle in the calibration. The question should be do they DO it... I understood that for fixed camers, they were pretty accurate... Oh - pay the stupid fine, and think very carefully about what would have happend when someone reveresed out ov their driveway at 15kph because they were running late, no one was ever on the street, and it was a 50kph zone - or what would have happened if their kid ran out. I hate speed limits. I see the reason for most CITY speed limits...

You know, I don't really get it. Why are you wanting to swap in another airbox? I would presume for flow, in which case I suspect you would be better with a pod filter. You can even hide it in your air box. If you did that, I'd make sure you have a (good) cold air intake. If I was going to put a pod in mine (rb20det), thats what I'd do.
-
Want boost earlier? I'll swap turbos with you. rb20det unit will be spooling up in no time, and since you never get anywhere near redline, it wont* run out of puff. *wont = might not.

Removing Hicas On R32 Gtr

Huh? Looks like I need to do some more research, then. But I was sure..... -
Removing Hicas On R32 Gtr
ebola replied to oRiCLe's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
EDIT: removed as requested -
no there are plans for a 2.3L turbo moror (160 kw from memory). MPS 6 (awd), and hopefully, MPS3 (fwd). If they go into production, the MPS3 takes about 4 seconds to go from zero to speeding (100). The SP23 is an older Mazda3 with extractors and a few other tidbits from the factory. Better grip, too, which was impressive for a passenger few to begin with. Enjoy the 4 door skyline. Easy to drive (auto), looks good, space for mates. Probably only as fast a bommodore, but thats with alot less cubes.

Rebuilding Inside Of Stock Rb20 Turbo
ebola replied to Johnny Cash's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just put in a bleed valve. easy to do, dial in 12psi... 14psi... Should last for a while, and when it finally lets go, then get the replacement turbo. If you are worried, count the money as spent before you get the bleed valve. -
Owning a black car? You mean there is another colour you'd consider?

How Do You Rate Optimax Extreme?
ebola replied to stuartlaw_78's topic in General Automotive Discussion
8/10 (as posed by the original question) My car (stock & untuned) seems to run rich - as is the factory's habit. It ran better on 95 RON 10% Ethanol (I think thats what it is) from ... um.... independant... than it did on optimax... so... Oh - and why does ethanol have more oxygen? COOCH (translation - go learn chemistry) -
You can also just flick the ingition off and on while rolling (faster than 5km or so). disable the ABS and 4wd (same as fuse) Then its the same as a front heavy gtst...

Clicking Noise Driving Me Insane!
ebola replied to StOjA's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
How about a description of WHAT causes it? does it increase in frequency with speed (drivetrain) or rpm (engine)? how does cornering affect it (suspension) from your 'pebble on tyre', perhaps you should try rotating all the tyres individually (by hand?)... EDIT: fixed spelling
