Sell 34R for something Euro?
No Crust Racing replied to No Crust Racing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Josh said: With a lovely chassis like the 34 with some decent rubber and power, the valving performance offered with the X-R series I feel would be ideal. The Blue series are an excellent package for the price point but are a street/comfort orientated style setup that when using your car for even spirited street driving may not offer the support needed with your level of rubber and the AWD. Blue series are $1590 inc GST and come with default spring rates of 9kg front and 3.5kg rear. The difference between the X-R and X-C is all in the valving, this determines how a shock works and gives it its characteristics. The X-C series are developed for comfort and ride quality only, so again I feel if wanting to exploit your chassis and power this would be a little lacking compared to the X-R series. The X-R series paired with the spring rates recommended are aimed at being the best blend between performance and ride quality with only our custom valved Red series offering a better blend. -

Car has never been to the track during my ownership, is unlikely to go more than a few times while I have it. -

Yeah I've been told the same thing. The BC ERs that are in it are a bit firm for me, but they're in good condition and likely not worth heaps to sell plus the MCA X-Rs I want are 2k =\ -

Daily = work car(free). Think I will keep the 34, put a nicer clutch in it and maybe some Cams and just sit back and see what what the R35 market does. -

lol easily amused I see I did consider something leaning more towards luxury than performance, but I know stuff all about cars in that space. Plus they're generally big 4 door things and ideally I just wanted a 2 door. -

I had a Celica back in the day, I'm not anti FWD or hatch/liftback, I just don't see something like that as being a special weekend toy for a guy in his 30s. You're talking about using it as a cheap daily, which makes much more sense. -

Why, you've got a 32 and america can buy those now so you'll make bulk coin from that. Or you can buy mine, sell it to you cheap... -

I've spoken with the Chef at length as I was going to import one at one stage, I bought just before the big price jump as I'd been watching the market closely. Clearances at auctions are one thing (as there's demand from other countries, like Canada who are now hotly importing thenm), but local private sales are quite another as we have "stock" on hand. -

I always find that to be an interesting chat. People are asking more for them, sure, but are they really selling for those asking prices? I only know of 2 that sold, both fairly tidy, both sold in the 60s, one with basic bolt ons, the other with a fairly decent list of mods, including a rebuild. Neither of them was getting 70-80, though if you looked at the more highly modified one versus whats on carsales, he should have been asking 75 easy apparently. -

I wouldn't buy a brand new car due to depreciation. Lol warps. Sure, for a track car, but I'm too old to have a hot hatch as my special weekender. I feel the same way about the Evo. Awesome platform but feels like a younger man's ride. -
Exactly how I feel about my 34.

Only wagons listed on carsales, would prefer 2 door. This has been a good exercise though, nothing ticks all the boxes so maybe the answer is sit and wait til I can afford the next tier of cars that do interest me. -
Nevermind, found that I can use both according to Amayama http://nissan.epc-data.com/skyline/bnr34/3956-rb26dett/engine/276/27650/

Are there images associated with the part numbers?

Does fast list anything regarding the differences? I assume the 9902 means Feb 99? which makes finding a second hand one even less likely if they are genuinely different.

Since this thread actually got some traction, I'll ask here. . - I know sound is subjective and also hard to really rate via youtube clips and the like, but is it just me or does the 35 sound really underwhelming even with an exhaust? - For those of you with a MY11 onwards, what sort of gearbox issues are you seeing, if any? - For people with at least an exhaust, intakes, tune etc, what sort of power are you seeing and how does that fair against similarly powered earlier model GT-Rs - does the gearbox really make up for the extra kerb weight?
