  1. I've thought about maintenance cost as well. I can afford to maintain either but the 34 would require less thought - as I'm not "rich" have just been smart with my money.
  2. In many ways this thread as h made me want a 34 more (in terms of the personal attachment factor, looks, cheaper maintenance etc) but a 35 more because in many ways it's a better street car and that's where this car will live (not saying it can't be/is not a better track car, only that the street car element is the important one for me).
  3. Agreed, the issue is you getting a real sense of what the car will be like longer term in a short test drive. I can see a lot of 34 owners in here who have dabbled with the 35 and not loved it. Was that more to do with the step up in price or purely to do with the car itself? I didn't want this thread to turn into a place where 34 drivers could affirm their choice, looking for genuinely considered opinions from people who have owned both or at least spent enough time behind the wheel of both - and not to discredit anything said, all the info has been great so far but interestingly far more kudos for the 34 than I expected.
  4. This is true in sense, but given the R34 iteration of the RB26 still has the same oil control issues, it's not as simple as saying the last version is the best. Have you spent a bit of time in a 35 to compare all aspects beyond straight line performance? Very nice car btw.
  5. No school holidays, genuine question I've struggled with for a while Apparently the answer is Cressida? (If that's what that is?)
  6. God damn it don't show me that...
  7. If I was to go for an R34 the goal would be a VS2, not for resale value but because it's the sexiest to me.
  8. Good point in that if I wanted to part ways it likely wouldn't be that hard to get an R34 swap.
  9. Yeah just reading the list of side effects, pretty harsh stuff if you ended up with a few of them.
  10. How do you go with side effects? Most sprays are pretty harsh on the nose lining.
  11. Any info you're willing to share is appreciated. PM if necessary.
  12. Appreciate the info. Good to hear. We're on the VIC/NSW border so Sydney or Melbourne is possible, though Melbourne is a few hours closer.
  13. My partner has been having increasingly bad reactions to various allergens year after year. Primarily, the main offenders are plant based. We had an allergy test conducted and she's allergic to most native grasses so of course hay fever season knocks her for 6. Over the counter hay fever medications have zero effect, trying to come into hay fever season with a healthy immune system has had no affect in the past and was not possibly this year due to having a toddler. We also eat local honey, not just because it's great but because it was suggested consuming the local produce would help, it hasn't. Her main symptom is an extremely blocked nose/sinuses so much so that she cannot sleep, as her mouth/tongue dries out, and in turn the lack of sleep depletes her immune system and she'll catch everything under the sun. She has had minimal success with a nasal spray, I can't remember which specific pray but the advice from the Doctor was to use it sparingly, we've found the effectiveness is already waning. We're going to look for some specialists in Melbourne who might be able to assist so anyone who has had success please feel free to chime in, whether that's from an allergen specialist or through another means. Let me hear it. I will reiterate, we have tried every available HayFever medication a pharmacists can supply, trying all of the differing active ingredients without ANY success.
  14. Is it an instant shift? I've driven a few paddle shifters and they vary widely, when I drove the 35 yers ago it was manual only mode as it was a privately owned car and had only travelled a few hundred k's. I'm not into Corvette's, I'd love to drive one for a weekend but would not shell out my $$ to own one - unless it was a ZR1,,, I would definitely be keeping it for quite some time, but that doesn't make me lean one way or the other, it's just a reflection of my financial decision making process. I love cars, but have a hard time justifying what nice ones really cost so I sit on them for a while when I have them. You've touched on what I think some of the internal struggle is, the 34 was my pinup car for so long. I'd have been stoked to have had a 99 non v-spec in any colour/condition. In a few years though, when I've taken car eof "business" and can think about pleasure, I have the option of a really nice 34, or an older model 35. Any car guy will tell you it's hard to justify dropping good money on a given car when you know there's another that is almost in-arguably better in every way. I'm biased here, but I haven't heard a 35 sound as a good as a 33/34 yet (Exhaust or Induction), but I've only been hearing 35s through YouTube lately and I've only driven a stock one.
  15. I know you've got a lot of experience with 34s Terry, I didn't realise you'd spent time with the 35 as well? M4 is a pretty nice looking bit of gear.
  16. But no manual.... Which, for a street car, I can live without. What's comfort like for street duties, comapred to R34, M3, maybe a Senator etc.
  17. That's part of the discussion in many ways. Anything that's manual and needs revs will always feel more exciting. I "might" track the car on the odd occassion, but the risk of damaging it, paint damage, needing expensive tyres etc etc puts me off.
  18. Something else I've considered Longz, but I'll have a track car for that purpose.
  19. I have no ideas about Wakefield times, Winton is my local track. What sort of power did you end up with and what sort of money did that cost if you don't mind me asking, you can PM if you prefer. Is that a dedicated e85 tune? Assuming you grabbed injectors also. What's it like daily? My car is unlikely to see a track as I have a dedicated car for that
  20. I mean by comparison obviously. An R34 is very flash competitively to my old 33. 35 is leaps and bounds above a 34 from personal experience. Same for comfort, all relative.
  21. I love TV2 but I'd end up with KV2 and black wheels I think. Edit sorry, nerded out - Bayside blue and Athlete Silver, or is it Atheltic Silver? Either way, Silver. The hard part is knowing that for the money, you could've had a 35 and I am damn sure I'll always be reminded of that fact by my mates etc. The 3L wouldn't come along until the 26 needed love, so in reality, it might not happen as I'm reluctant to engage in "unneeded" work when I know I can make a decent 350awkw from the 26. I know the missus would much prefer the 35, and for the type of driving I think it'll be doing, weekend trips away etc, in many ways the 35 seems the better pick, power when you want it, more livable when you don't. I just wish it wasn't so unattractive from the front end, I love the 35 from the rear, and the interior is great too, but the front doesn't fully deliver for me.
  22. Just watched that video, that Camaro is such a nice car - in my opinion much better looking than the 35 as I like square angular lines. Interesting what they say about liking the Camaro more for the involvement/feedback etc. I know a R33/34 doesn't feel that muted as I've owned one and driven it hard, it had the all wheel drive grip, but only when you pushed it hard enough to spin the rears and needed it, it would also power slide. I think the 35 requires a lot more aggression/skill than I might be capable of in that respect.
  23. I won't look at the camaro, it's GTR or nothing pretty much. The 34 has the history, as it was the one I wanted for so long. Manual, high revving engine with ITBS just glorious. I'm from the Fast and Furious generation and was a big Paul Walker fan, as sad as that is. Given the main driving the car will do is weekend jaunts and the occasional dinner outing, the 35 looks very attractive in terms of comfort (yes I realise neither are "comfy" cars by comparison) and ease of use. Maintenance cost scare me a bit and the lack of a manual is a blessing and a curse.
