Standard 7ft bar as I already had all standard plates. Any tips on where I can get better?
-
Just these. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-x-20KG-HAMMERTONE-STANDARD-WEIGHT-PLATE-HOME-GYM-EZ-GRIP-OK-BARBELL-PICKUP-/221254696326?pt=AU_Strength_Training&hash=item3383cebd86&_uhb=1

Agreed Harry, so I'd like to hear from people who have used the new compound, I'm OK with it being slower than competing products because it's so much cheaper. It's all relative. I didn't build up a Silvia and use RS-Rs because I'm trying to be the fastest guy out there lol What do you think is a good bang for buck tyre Harry? What are you running?
-
Cheers. I forgot to add, that after jogging say 70-75% of the walk this morning and having gym'd last night my ankle is a bit tender up the inside so I'll just keep taking ti slowly. I also used shoes last night for DLs as the physio said it might be a good idea to stop my bad ankle rolling in and it seemed to help.
-
Skip everything after 35 and go for 3x 45s BOOM crushing.
-
Not personally no, I run RS-Rs on an S13 and have been happy for the money, I was looking at going to FZs, hence the thread about if those prices were decent or not.

Little bit of an update. Wen to the physio yesterday, she didn't test me on anything but was happy that I'd started jogging again and had been stretching the bad leg calf more, she's given me another more challenging stretch to do and commented that I did not get enough ROM work during my early recovery days and that we'll have to get stuck into that now. I would say my ankle ROM has improved since doing her specific stretch. She put me on a few balance boards and I was pretty terrible at it, not much worse than her, but she said someone with a high level of activity like me should have better balance and stabilisation and that it was indicative of poor (the word escapes me right now) but awareness of my foot/ankle position and location in space so to speak. I admit I had much better balance before destroying my ankle. When I go back she's going to put me on the treadmill and check out my running style and see what she can do mechanically as I know my gait is not even and my legs do not drive/operate the same both sides which I can feel most notably when squatting. She gave me a bar and had me show her my DL technique and said it was quite good, so BAM. As for gym last night, this getting back to 3x8 is hard yakka lol but got a little further. Squat low bar 3x8 80.5 90.5 100 (7) One extra. Bench 3x8 93 101.5 106.5 (7.5) I thought I had 8 in me but as I came down for it Kate walked in with Ella to talk about something and it broke my concentration so I stopped half way and racked it, that chat took 30 seconds or so then I busted out one more rep. Bench is always the hardest for me to go an extra rep as there's the risk of being caught under the bar, you can get out but it's annoying, the safeties on my rack are a touch too heigh at one point and a touch too low on the next point down. DL barefoot 3x8 88 97.5 104 got'em again so will look to add some weight shortly Row 3x8 78 88 93 As above Chins 3x8 7.5 12.5 15 (6) Tried for a 7th but didn't have it. Dips 3x8 15 20 25 Will look to add here. Also, Kate has a mirror in the gym room now as she's been using the lat pull down attachment to help with some of her physio after the birth and as I was shirtless from being hot during DLs, I took a snap for comparisons sake. As you can see I could stand to drop a little weight/bf % in the mid section but for someone who doesn't stress too much about diet and isn't running like I was I'm not super unhappy at the moment. Given I no longer do any ab work and haven't for months and months I could be in worse shape. Forgive the facial expression, I was trying not to breath as it was already hard enough to get a non blurry photo given the average iphone camera and the lighting.

Oh I'm sorry, did you say 45kg bench? IS THAT WHAT YOU SAID? Awwww YEAH Did you have another rep in the tank? as you did 4x 42.5... Maybe next session go from 35's straight to 45s and see what you've got. BW BENCH HERE YOU COME!

Deadlift Progress And Improvement Thread
No Crust Racing replied to rev210's topic in Health & Wellbeing
Nice work all round guys. Interesting that you're the same height and weight as me yet pulling a ton more, granted I have some issues I'm dealing with but it's still a top lift in my opinion so well done. What would you "normally" weigh if you weren't doing weights? If I'm just running and no weights I drop down to a flat 80, as low as 78 as I'm a fairly light build guy normally. Moving to a 3x8 routine from 5x5 has been "fun" lol -
This is why I love dealing with TRW, I was talking to Luke last night about the comments in here and I have a reply from him and Federal this morning, now that's service. Anyway, here's what he said. ""I did my research when we got Federal onboard, and stumbled across the thread saying that the compound changed. So I had a serious chat with my federal rep... I said this is what I have read, what is the story. He informed me that the new compound was harder. However what seems to be happening the internet community are comparing them to a A 048 or 050. And yes they are harder, yes they are slighter slower, but they last longer. At $310 a corner for 235/45/r17, they are good value compared to the $600 of a A050. He said that there has been some feedback from the guys with light car with small power outputs that said they had trouble with them, (I take this to be the Escorts, and the like) But the heavier cars with more power found them more durable. I asked about the soft option, and he said its the same soft tyre. Its quick but like anything in a soft compound it won't be as durable." So in my mind that makes plenty of sense and they still represent good value, I've been happy with the RS-Rs for the money. Oh and he also said this. "The 595 Drift tyres are now up, and at crazy prices. $105 for a 17 inch" Like I said, that's service.
-
Thanks man *flex* Does $120 delivered for 2x 20kg plates sound good/bad/normal?
-
Josh: sit tight, I was talking to TRW and they are looking at plain 595s for drifters. Ricoh: Interesting, I hadn't heard that, where did you hear/read that?
-
You make it look easy! Nice work.
-
These guys have started up locally and are now selling tyres, how do these prices look? http://theracerswarehouse.com.au/motorsport/tyres.html I'm semi keen on the FZ201's in a 235-255 sizing or so. Seems decent to me?
-
LOL if Birds skips the country John, I'll cover your $10 for you
-
What injuries do you find the guys sustain lifting heavy? Do you seem common technique issues that cause certain types of injuries more often than others?
-
Do you do anything particular for recovering guys? Just light weights or do you have them focus on isolation exercises to build up supporting strength etc? How is Emad recovering, what's the plan there?
-
I'm in for most of that. I was more defined with isolation exercises, but I'm stronger and a bit larger now and I think my physique is more balanced than it was more beef on legs and back, and if you recall that was the point of my very first thread in here, balancing out my home gym routine. And yes, I was not training those 3 lifts initially, but I feel better for doing it now, regardless of numbers.
-
That's really interesting to see Markos - the first session for reps stuff I mean. Do you get many attendees coming in off the back of an injury looking to get better/rehab up so to speak? I'm curious how you handle that sort of client if you get any? And also injured decent lifters, like Emad and his busted arm, what's the approach there?

You date Birds, you have a great sense of humour.

Think you missed it, I dropped the s from "posts" when I quoted you and made a dick joke....

WHAT?! Does Birds know?
