  1. Happy to see this morning that the level has dropped back to just under the GKTECH label so it may be levelling out.
  2. Lol not quite, I do go out and check it while it cools though... It's getting driven every day at the moment. Normally it doesn't get driven much on the street as it's very defectable.
  3. Rolled the car back and checked the paper, no coolant stains. Went for a drive and got it nice and hot, came back and the level was up a touch (to be expected) so we'll see what it looks like tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it'll just drop down to where it was this morning and it's now stabilised.
  4. It would if it was pushing it into the cylinder But thanks anyway.
  5. Oh that's not what I want to hear, my paranoia will kill me. Were you topping it up during that period or wast he lvel just changing but not requiring any extra coolant?
  6. Would be worth more if you grabbed some of the Captains air.
  7. I dunno, I've lurked for yonks but don't contribute much because I don't actually do any Tarmac Rally events and I'm not that knowledgeable on anything discussed, I just like following along
  8. Ouch. Surely whoever did the work would be looking after him.
  9. Are you talking 12 actual km's or 12,000kms?
  10. Not an "issue" per say, but there's plenty of benefit to keep the shields in place when considering under bonnet temps. You could leave them off and go an R34 GT-R style bonnet duct. So long as everything is clear of the area you'll be fine. I don't run heat shields on my turbo/manifold (only a CA S13 though) and I have no issues with water/oil temps. See how you go during tuning, if there's an issue go from there.
  11. Forum is a much better medium for these sorts of discussion IMO.
  12. Checked it this morning and took another pic. It appears to have dropped just a touch to me, in the first pic the fluid can be seen behind the letters in the GKTECH label but in the second pic it's just below them. This "appears" to be a lesser drop than what I've seen, but as I filled the overflow up and the shape of the bottle opens up as it gets higher, there's more surface area when it's fuller so the drop will be less noticeable. More driving needed and I'll roll the car back and check the paper tonight. Before driving and after completely cooling down overnight.
  13. Fluid topped up, race tape mark put on the overflow, and photo taken. Been for a decent drive to get it nice and hot. Got back and no gurgle and level still the same, but it seems to drop as it cools so we'll see what happens. Gave it some gas under street lights too, could not see any plumes of smoke Jacked car up while it was still running, can't see any leaks. Put down clean white paper under the whole engine bay to try and catch any leaks. .
  14. I'll use tap so I can remove it but yeah same idea. I'm pretty sure it dropped again over night, the good news is there must be enough "seal" in the system for the vacuum to be good enough to draw from the bottle I guess.
  15. Drove it again briefly last night, checked it this morning, I took before and after photos of the reservoir but took them on different angles. I'll check again when I get home but I'm inclined to think the coolant level dropped a bit again =\ Hopefully it's still just air coming out but you'd have to think it'd all be gone by now so either there's still leaks (which I can't see/find) or the headgasket is still leaking...
  16. Coolant level was a touch lower this morning so hopefully that's just air working its way out after having had various pipes disconnected. I'll monitor closely.
  17. Had some success today. Enzed got me sorted, I got a much better guy today. Put it all back together tonight, even used new copper washers. Ran it while on stands, no leaks. Took it for a drive and got it nice and hot then put it straight back up on stands, no leaks. Switched it off, no gurgle. I'll continue driving it to see if it's using coolant or gurgles again then hit the Dyno if it's all good.
  18. That's not that different to any other service industry, mine included. I used to hate having people watching me work back when I was still out in the field.
  19. I've seen some coverage of that 240z a few times going up against that Perana Good looking bit of gear.
  20. I'm lucky enough to be the mechanic, tuner, and financier...
  21. Admittedly I'm starting to get a bit over it... Sorting the leak that is. Just want to dyno the thing and get back to the track.
  22. No luck at Enzed, apparently the hose and fitting combo is "unique" which is the story of my friggen life whenever I go there. I'll grab my spare braided lines and fittings tonight to help them out.
  23. Created a new issue for myself today, fixed one leak and in the process the hose twisting caused the other end to start weeping so in tightening that I snapped off the fitting.... That said, if it needs to be that tight to stop leaking then it was always going to fail. I'll get a new fitting and get the braided hose end re-done during the week.
  24. I'll have to fix the leak in the braided line first and then see how it's behaving after that. I'm in two minds about the noise location, either there's a leak there that I just can't see or that's a spot where the air from a leak somewhere in the system accumulates and then it boils once the car is stopped. So firstly I have to remove obvious leaks, that weep may very well be a larger leak when the car is in motion and properly hot.
  25. I didn't, as I wanted to fix the obvious leaks first. My main concern is the dropping coolant level because I'm paranoid I haven't fixed the HG properly.
