My house is a brand spanker so I got a big square of commercial carpet and put it down over my existing carpet as an added layer of protection. All my plates are metal only.
-
Sounds good, what did it all set you back?
-
Hah, that's the plan. Thought I'd tinker for a week or so and see if I had any success. Elbow has come back nicely, but the back hasn't.
-
LOL No, but if it's a daily and you need to keep driving it you don't drive it at 100% WOT until you've fixed the miss... I get your point, all I was saying is that I'll avoid those movements right now until I've had a chance to get into physio, have it assessed and continue with recovery steps, in the mean time I can at least get a little leg work in with some lunges without straining that nerve/muscle/whatever it is. I've got a holiday starting this Friday so can give it some rest then, be lucky if I see the gym at the hotel twice while I'm away. You didn't have to edit out Laser GLI and change for Meteor either, I got it the first time
-
Well despite stretching, ball rolling, etc it's still flaring if I dead or squat even at half weight so might have to cancel those for now, light dumbbell lunges seem OK though.
-
I just watched a clip of that, I'm already doing it so happy days.
-
Dunno, I'm not super savvy with all that but Kate gave me a bunch of her stretches from physio that supposedly related to the hips so I've been doing those. If you know of something specific feel free to share.
-
OK I'll keep that in mind. As for flexibility, I am pleased to report that after a week of leg/back stretching I was able to bend over and touch the ground straight legged, the first time I've been able to do that in around 6-7years. Great success.

No offense taken at all Rev, I knew it was going to be my fault and nobody elses, it's feeling sciatic at the moment. I've got a cricket ball here I can use. Good news, no soreness in the elbow the day after, so will continue nursing it back. I'd say just over exerted through last weekend and should have avoided curls on the Monday. Now I know what that burning feeling means on Sunday night. Had a mate over last and he's a big gym junkie, had him spot me for a few light SLDLs, he said my form looked fine but was concerned about the way I racked and unracked so interesting to hear. The bar is also my bench bar and I normally grab it off the bench with a a little bit of weight on it so he reckons I should be sure to fully unload it first. Plus I grab it from the bench side so have to step over so not the most ideal setup, might have to move the bench down so I can grab it easily from the back. What really struck me as odd though, and we agreed to disagree on this, is that he only squatted to parallel. I thought the best results were seen going ass to grass, this came up as I said I can't go that low without having my feet on a 45 degree angle. If my feet are just off centre from straight like his, I can't go any deeper than about parallel.

Well had a 60-70% session this morning and changed up a few exercises I knew would hit the elbow too hard. Feeling alright but doom some precautionary icing as we speak. Something to ad to the list though, nerve above my right butt cheek in my lower back seems to be protesting and no amount of stretching or resting it over the past 2 weeks has done much for it. Anyone notice this especially when doing stiff leg deads and squats? Regarding squats I am finding that I feel comfortable and go deep I have to have my feet at 45 degree angle.

I won't clog up this thread, will RAPE your inbox with so much spam instead. Edited my post to be more accurate.

I certainly feel old enough, I'll be 30 in July...

I'm talking about stretching as a way of recovering from this elbow/forearm issue, and it appears to be working OK - with other things - my theory being the gentle movement encourages blood flow to the area which is a good thing, plus I'm not very flexible so I think stretching is a good thing for me as it stops my tendons etc being too tight and not being able to carry a wright through a given ROM. I know I had less injuries during weights back when I still did martial arts and regularly stretched and could palm the ground etc As for warm up, I probably don't do enough, as I just do 5 or so mins of passive stretching, jogging, arm rotating etc to loosen up.
-
Dezz: Still interested as to why you think stretches aren't a good idea? Is this something your physio/whoever is helping you recover told you? I've been stretching these past few days and icing a little, did a light session on Wednesday, avoided curls, dropped weights on everything to less than 1/5th of previous totals and pulled up well enough. Can hold my arm out in front palm down and rotate to palm up now without immense discomfort so it's improving.
-
Why's that Dezz? big part of my physio when I did the inner elbow/forearm was stretching and I would say it helped noticeable to have better ROM through the joint.
-
Thanks mate, will take a look when I get a chance. Tonight I'll just do some light stretching and some ab work and leave it at that, I plan on giving the arm a full week off and then going from there. All the reading I've been doing so far tells me to keep it moving after an initial rest period, get some stretching going on and do some wrist and forearm strengthening exercises. I know it sounds dumb but I'm actually looking forward to the challenge and making my wrists and forearms stronger.
-
My previous injury was felt on the inner elbow/forearm under a positive/contraction motion so when curling up. This is the opposite and went bang on the negative portion so when lowering the weight and is tender on the outside of the elbow/forearm. Who has some golden recovery tips?
-
Well so much for looking decent for my holiday coming up, bad enough that I'm as white as the Milky Bar kid. I'll keep icing it and when it stops hurting just to move it I'll kick off some wrist and forearm stretching and light exercises to try and strengthen those areas. This is all the physio will do if I go there with the exception of the massage I can do all he'll suggest preemptively. I've seen those forearm pressure wraps/sleeve things tennis players use which apparently help a lot, anyone tried those?

Disaster. After a pretty hard weekend around the house doing projects I was a bit stiff come time for the Monday session last night, warmed up, had a good stretch and felt more or less OK (I usually feel a bit stiff on Mondays from working on the house/car over the weekend). Benched OK but I did a few reps of curls and my left elbow gave a decent stab of pain. I did a few light stretches after and ended up aborting the session. I've had a bad inner elbow for quite a while and have learned to manage that and it's felt better than it has in years but this is an outer elbow thing. If i put my arm out straight in front of me, palm down and begin rotating the palm upwards I can only get to about 90 degrees before the pain is quite uncomfortable. Iced it a few times lat night and wanted to stretch it out but just let it rest, doesn't feel a heap better this morning either. In the time I should have been exercising I did some reading on some wrist and forearm exercises I can do to plug and obvious weak spot in the future but for now I need to get it better. What are some of the tried and tested suggestions for alleviating what I'm thinking is an angry inflamed Tennis Elbow type ailment. Was just starting to get a good flow going too, FML =\

Balancing My Home Gym Routine
No Crust Racing replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Health & Wellbeing
Going to back off on the SLDL and back work a touch, think I've added too much too soon as I've had a slight recurring pinching sensation just above my right butt check. Tried resting it a bit but hard when normal activity can make it grab. Will lay off the back work a touch, then drop the weight when I come back and triple check form on a few things. I've watched a TON of videos on proper form for SLDL and Pendlay/BB Rows so I'm reasonably confident I'm doing them right, probably just too much weight too soon for a person with weak back/legs. If anyone has a video they swear by for either exercise post it up (I've had the missus compare my form to a few clips I've shown her as I have no mirrors). I did a few numbers and worked out I have plenty of room for more protein in my diet also and based on some comments in the main thread about absorption rates I'm spreading it out over the day more. -
Got some more gear on hand gents and at this point the disks are still available. Another working system, can confirm details for interested parties as I only just got this. -P4 2.4-2.6GHz (Can’t remember exactly which) -1GB RAM -60GB HDD (I think, or there abouts) -Radeon 9800 Pro Dual Head Video Card -2 Optical Drives (One is at least capable of DVD playback but I’m not sure what it can burn). -Some USB ports have “questionable” functionality but there’s a standalone USB PCI card in it which works fine. It’s running XP Pro and working without issue but I’ll format the disk before handing it over so it will come with NO OS. No peripherals either. Also have a Black Samsung 19" 4:3 LCD

I guess the old adage "why not" is probably reason enough, but further to that I can't see anything wrong with someone setting their sights on one goal, fastest R35 quarter mile in the world isn't exactly a small feat and reflects well on the company in a lot of ways. You could say the Veyron was a pointless car, it's outgunned by plenty of cheaper and less powerful cars in a track environment, but that doesn't take much away from its ability to delve into the 400kph range. (Someone clarify for me, is it still the fastest car? I remember the SSC Ultimate Aero taking the crown but then Bugatti came out with the Super GT Veyron or something sounding similar). It's a very powerful Nissan doing cool things, good enough for me. Or is the issue that someone is taking a different direction with the platform than what you see as befitting it? (Snowy/Domino). I'm not trying to antagonise anybody, just curious as to why other 35 owners wouldn't see this as a good thing.

Chasing Details On Dodgy User

It could be a simple misunderstanding. The trader feedback is pretty good, though there is recently one bad feedback. The account may have been compromised though, there's a lot of for sale threads. Admin assistance is likely required, PM R31Nismoid. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/user/709-r31nismoid/
