  1. This is Ash we're talking about, I'm not sure I'd have a choice 0_0
  2. How is that going to help though, sure it means both sides are doing the same amount but it still means the left side is weaker and the right side is not being pushed as much. I might just have to start using my left arm for more things so it's getting used throughout the day more. I'll add the planking for now, I'm not sure my back would enjoy reverse crunches at the moment with squats, deadlifts, and barbell rows putting some strain through it, it's pretty weak. Cheers for the ideas.
  3. Good to see a few GT-Rs on the roster, I'm gonna have to sleeze a ride or two and get my fix. I'm sure Ash won't mind the male company...
  4. Was talking about this with a long time female friend who had this to say. "You can get a tad obsessed with things" Which is her nice way of saying Kate is right I think lol But anyway, See last line of my last post
  5. LOL I think that's what she thinks goes on in here Nick, though she has met a few SAUers at DECA and that was all good, she gets along with the likes of Leon and Campbell just fine (even when tanked)so she's no nose up bitch. She's been by my side for 5 years and I'm not exactly the worlds finest specimen in many respects. It's a positive thing yes and she likes that I respect myself and won't let myself go but at the same time she's seen how self involved I was back in the day and I'm still fairly eco-centric, I like the idea that this is my life and ultimately I should be happy and will do what I want (within reason of course, things like monogamy or stupid financial decisions are not an issue). She is far more selfless than I am and while she looks after herself, would never be called vain or self absorbed by me or any of her friends. She dislikes that attitude so some of it will be reacting to seeing what she perceives as that behaviour from me. Anyway, enough of that days of our lives bs.
  6. Not much to explain really, she thought taking topless photos to post online to a bunch of guys I don't know to talk about my gut was weird/obsessive as none of you are experts(her words but true none the less) and she has already told me that she thinks it's an inner abdominal strength/posture issue so in her mind that should be enough (more on that below) She was very uncomfortable with the idea, I would assume partly because she thinks I'm focusing on it too much. I explained that, like my car, when I'm not 100% sure about something I post online and get a range of opinions, think about it, apply what I think might work, report back for the good of the forum etc. I don't take the first opinion thrown at me a gospel, including hers. I'm not fat or out of shape but the fact that I'm putting in more time and effort lately (session is now up to 60mins instead of the 40 it used to be) to strengthen my legs/back fix my shoulder rounding etc and have started taking a supplement again, for recovery, makes her think I'm going to go back to how I used to be before we got together when I was exercising 5 times a week, eating more strictly and doing things like wearing really tight shirts and making sure I had a quick exercise session to get a nice pump on before heading out for a night on the town. I was THAT guy and she didn't really dig it. I am not that guy anymore for a number of reasons, largely because secondary muscle group injuries and overtraining etc put a stop to it, but I think she takes my increased interest and focus as signs I am going to be or want to be that guy again. As I said, wasn't worth the hassle so I didn't bother posting the pics. In the end happy wife happy life was more important and I pick my battles so to speak as does she so when she really flares up about something I know it matters to her as she lets a lot of other things slide. She is the type of person who will do all the cooking and cleaning while I prep the car if a track day is coming up, including making the lunches for the day, packing the eski and chairs etc. That said, my question about curls still stands.
  7. Looks like I'm at least in for Passenger duties and a few beverages afterwards. See you chumps there.
  8. No pics, GF was not impressed when I took them and went to put them up last night, showed her Birds gut pic and Joe's before/afters but didn't matter and wasn't worth the hassle. Will add some planking and try to keep posture good, after reviewing the pics myself I do not think fat is the issue, it's an abdominal wall/posture thing from being an office slacker. Also, I've noticed on concentration curls that my right arm is going along ok completing 3x8 reps at a given weight but my left is starting to fag out around the 5-6rep mark on the third set. I realise we generally have a stronger side but how do people go about minimising this and evening up the strength of both sides? Extra set on the left? More weight less reps on the left to force it to jump up a notch in strength which would then see it able to drop down to the weight of the right side but complete the reps?
  9. Had a look at my "angle" last night, I don't think that's a huge part of it but when I take pics I'll try and take one showing the two points in question and you can see angle for your selves. Don't worry Birds, I didn't think you meant pull up with the neck, I've done ab work for ages and learned long ago not to pull in that way, good for others reading who might not know that though.
  10. As per my other thread, due to SFA leg work I am actually very top heavy which is part of the reason I do crunches and not full sit ups (that and protecting my back) I literally roll backwards lol, like a turtle. Off home now, catch tomorrow.
  11. Nick I thought that adding weight and doing lower reps would make the muscle bigger, I don't to exacerbate the protruding look issue. Was under the impression that for abs reps were OK as tone is more the goal (in my case). Also interesting vid. You will all see what I mean when I post some pics, prolly Wednesday Night/Thursday morning, the most likely culprit is I'm just holding too much fat in the mid section due to my dietary choices.
  12. I can forgive that as he used "you're" correctly and that made me happy. Son I am proud.
  13. I lol'd but he does have plenty of other joints and appendages to be exploited in lieu of timely payments... Creepy comment is creepy 0_0
  14. The morning walk is more so for the dog, as she's only 9mths and has lots of energy, I jog it just to get it over with faster. At night, M/W/F I start exercising as soon as I get home, takes about an hour. On the off days Tuesday and Thursday, I'm likely to go for a bigger walk with Kate and the Dog and on the weekends we usually go somewhere with the dog and I do the usual BS of wash both cars, mow lawns (1280sqm block) etc so it's not like I'm inactive.
  15. Will do re pics. I could do more cardio for sure, atm I walk the dog each morning which is only a small 20min circuit, which I jog most of (I find it hard to get going in the mornings) and then a bigger walk with the dog and missus a few nights a week. I could deffo be getting back into my bike or running though. Same, no way I'll give up sweet things and tasty treats.
  16. If you mean this I used to do this a bit actually, I should add it back in.
  17. Yeah I know, I used to be 65kg and had awesome looking, zero work, abs lol. I wouldn't say ice cubes but pretty firm and pretty visible when tensed, it's the fact that when not tensed they disappear as my stomach protrudes out a bit, as if I've just eaten a big meal as you mentioned. From that list, only deadlift, and that's the stiff leg variety as my hamstring flexibility is poor. I'll try keeping my core tensed and posture good and see what effect it has over the next few weeks. I'm too much of a fooder to cut out heaps of things from my diet Shit, maybe I am just fat, starting to sound that way. If I take some tensed/untensed photos for review am I gonna have to endure 3 pages of bullshit about how pale I am, how my chest isn't hairy enough, biceps too small blah blah or are we all reasonably good at staying on topic and just telling me my core needs work and my body fat % is too high?
  18. Much obliged. I concede there is definitely some fat over the top but I honestly thing it's fairly minimal (can post no homo pics if needed), that's not what worries me though as I tend to prefer to eat and drink what I want, like a boss, and that's part of why I exercise, so I can enjoy myself relatively guilt free. That said the bigger issue for me is if the bulge (it looks like I'm bloated if you get me not fat as in cellulite just bloated) is more of an inner ab strength thing, and it sounds like it is. Is standing up straight and holding my stomach in using my abs enough to minimise that? It certainly seems to work for my missus but she talks about how she is not using her exterior (visible) abs to do this where as I feel like I am. She seems to refer to some magical inner ab feeling that I don't think I've felt. When I hold my stomach in I'm using my exterior abs and good posture to do it, if that's what you mean then I can do that.
  19. OK some questions and feedback from me this morning. - Got the Dymatize (Elite Fusion 7) after reading some more reviews and seeing it compared favourably with ONs WPI Gold (another guy here at work takes that also) I've only had it a week so far but I can give initial impressions. Taste is great if you like sweet stuff which I do, I got the cookies flavoured one as it was on special for $75 delivered (2.3kg). Comes out tasting like a rich Vanilla thick/milk shake with some cookie bits in it. There's approx 50+ 44g serves in it, one large scoop = 44g. It mixes quite well given I just chuck it in a glass with milk and use a spoon to stir, 95% of it mixes up immediately and you are left with some tiny clumping which you can either stir more to break down or just use a shaker straight up. I "think" it may have given me a bit of extra gas though and it definitly affects the quality of your morning deuce but in a good way, it's teflon coated everytime 0_0 You go for the wipe and it's like nothing even happened. I have a full scoop straight after exercising (M/W/F) and then a smaller scoop from an old product the morning after as a booster sort of thing. Despite pushing a little harder to bring on some muscle soreness/fatigue as a test I've been finding that I'm recovering quite well surprisingly, especially with regards to my bung left elbow. OK now for questions. - When doing Barbel Rows, there seems to be two approaches, after bringing the bar up to the starting position and bending over people either bring it up to the chest and squeeze the shoulder blades together at the top or bring it up closer to the body and bring it up to the waist which seems to target triceps and a bit of the lats. As my goal for that exercise is more about my shoulder blades I have started bringing it up to the chest, which forced me to drop a few kgs off the bar. Can anyone see any issues with that? - I do a bit of ab work in my routine, 3 sets of 50 crunches and 3 sets of 70 reps of an air bike/leg scissor type thing. So I have OK looking abs so long as I tense them and hold them in place. If I fully relax, I look 2mths pregnant and my stomach bulges out a small amount. Is this a sign of poor internal ab strength or weak core or is it just that every photo you ever see of someone posing they are flexing their stomach? My partners stomach does not do this and she doesn't have my ab definition or strength and doesn't do any special ab work (she's a runner). I sit all day so that might be it, relaxed abs all day though she does too? I don't think my body fat % is high as I've always been a leaner guy (I'm only 81kg at 6ft). She did say that from an early age she always held her abs in place and has good posture. Thoughts?
  20. Not at the moment mate but feel free to send me a resume an I can put it on file, we are a company that does actually consider previously received apps for new jobs when they arise (if the applicant is a good egg).
  21. We've made an offer to a candidate and had it accepted. That said, if you're still interested in a Level 2 or 3 position let me know as we could use some extra hands and I can pull some strings to get budget approved for additional resources if they are good candidates.
  22. As an update to this, based on some re-shuffling of the staff. It looks like strong windows skills will be the critical component to this job. I will most likely be the direct line manager for this position now also and I can say that 80k is available for the right candidate. I'm pretty awesome to work with and that sort of salary goes a long way here. Clearing $2,300+ a fortnight is not exactly chump change in a place where 400k gets you a house like mine, brand new, 4bdr + study on 1250+sqrs. 10-15mins to work, plenty of parking, lots of outdoor activities, race track within an hours drive, plenty of pubs and clubs, decent food an shopping. 3hr drive to Melb or less than 40min flight... This is living
  23. *sigh* I guess Didn't they run a stock R35 around Bathurst and it was slower than a heavily modified V8SC so therefore V8s are the best uleh~
  24. Most of us don't respond well to subtle, we've lost most of our sensitivity after a night with Benny.
