  1. I need some new rubber for the S13. I'm currently running 235/45/R17 Bridegstone Semi's on 8.5" Front and 9" Rear rims (the fronts might be 8" I need to check) MPC is selling the Mini Challenge Slicks which are 215 45 R17s but Troy thinks they will be too small for my rear rims. He's suggesting I go some 225 Pirelli slicks he has on hand instead. I'd prefer to keep the same tyre size all round for rotational reasons. A few questions. Are slick widths the same as Semi Slick widths? I ask because the 235 Semi's I have seem to be as wide as 245/255 road tyre in width. Will I still come out in front grip wise If I go a 225 Slick all round (assuming I'll get better grip due to bigger contact patch on the slicks). Should I just stay with 235 Semi's all round instead of worrying about slicks. Newer semis will give me more grip anyway as the currents are pretty much bald in some spots. Sorry for multiple tyre threads, just trying to get all my ducks in a row before I buy.
  2. lol damn! I could go the 225's all round, and I'd expect that a 225 slick would give more grip than a 235 semi purely through having larger contact patch?
  3. Gah what a pain lol, I'm trying to get Ben to measure up for me so I can compare to the current 235s I have
  4. Moreover, is anyone using a 215 slick on a 9" rim? Benny noted that the 215 was as wide as a 235 Semi he had on hand, I'm running 235 semis at the moment and want to be half confident that the 215 is a wide and will fit.
  5. I'm gonna go +1 for Velo, I bought last years model Velo Podium FRP seat from a mob over in Perth that were running it out - it was the first Podium, they are heaps nicer now, the seat cost me $500 new, I got some Velo side mounts and the seat delivered to Vic for a total of $750. I come across it on eBay. Search around and you will find a bargain. A new GP90 is about 600-700 I think so I was very happy with my buy. Edit: Forgot to add I looked at the Sparco, Cobra and some SAAS seats on the dollar vs quality/comfort was better for me with the Velo. Pic attached
  6. I'm pretty sure the series has died but there are still plenty of second hand slicks for cheap that need to be chewed up Benny on here and Troy at MPC note they are 215 slicks, that seems to be akin to a 235 semi though in width.
  7. Benny put me on to these and I rang MPC and spoke to Troy about getting some but he noted that they would not be suitable for a 9" Rim (I've got 9" rears and 8 or 8.5 fronts) I'm currently running 235 Bridgestone semi's all round and they seem fine and the car is using tyres well and gripping as expected. Fitment to me seemed good. Beny measured the tyre for me at one point and said it came in around 9.5" sidewall to sidewall. Is anyone using these Ex Mini Challenge 215 Slicks on a 9" rim?
  8. The one I got for the Silvia was from a local guy, $150, 780PCA, around 280CCA, weighed a kg or two less than what I had. Perfect for a little 4 banger like mine. I reckon it'd start a small 6 easily enough too.
  9. I don't think there is one and that's the point - Random phrase chosen to denote a specific corner so the driver would remember. Maybe? I dunno just a guess
  10. He's known as The Hedgehog... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Jeremy
  11. Sealed from the cabin is one thing but don't you have to vent a normal battery to the exterior of the boot space? Or is that only if there's no partition between the boot and cabin?
  12. Ahh, love that footage "You're going back through?!" OK, well Good Luck at Targa
  13. lol *facepalm* forgot about that.
  14. Did you attend this event Ben?
  15. That's good news Snowy, keep plugging away and she'll be posting quick times before you know it. Forget Evo's, I'm sure there were a stack of Evo's that didn't post that quick a times. To his credit, Newton can actually steer so I imagine he'd be up the pointy end in a GT-R also, it's not just the car. In my head, it's just a shame it seems to cost so much more to go quick in GT-R when compared to early model Evo's - At least GT-R's have some class and heritage though...
  16. Would this imply a mod chip is not far away... Having said that, I don't have a Blu-Ray burner and I cant imagine the games would be small download wise.
  17. I thought it was more as stated above, PS3 is more powerful but harder to code for. In my head this means PS3 will stay around longer and maybe possibly get better graphics as developers work out how to ring the best from it. 360 maybe retired sooner?
  18. What do you mean by run better, the ps3 is the more powerful console isn't it? Is it the general consensus that gt is better than forza? I've only had limited play time on gt. Which one would be the better media center?
  19. online play is not a huge factor as I'm a casual gamer and just play when I want or can and usually only short periods. One thing I didn't mention above was blue ray. xbox won't do that will it? Can the xbox record tv?
  20. OK I've just finished The Force Unleashed II on the Wii and I think I'm done with this console. It's modded, got about 20 or so games but I think my love for it has passed. I've been craving a racing game and I kept my original Xbox just to have Forza but it looks like puss on an LCD and it's a bit old and clunky now. So I'm thinking I might ditch the Wii and buy a second hand xbox or PS3 and get the respective racing game. So the question is, which console? The xbox can be modded which appeals to me a lot as I don't play online (are there mod chips that support online play with the xbox, my wii had no troubles online modded). The PS3 appears to have nicer graphics and a pretty swish interface for media centre capabilities (nice but not essential as I have a computer near the TV for this stuff). Throw some thoughts at me, the Xbox looks cheaper, can be modded etc but the PS3 seems more powerful, more polished (maybe it will last longer satisfaction wise with the graphics etc?) Also what about GT5 vs Forza3? I only have limited experience with both. side bar: How are you guys getting your Xbox games? I was just downloading them as torrents for the Wii, worked a treat. Cheers
  21. Keep us posted Despite being flat out with building a house, work, preparing to go on our cruise, moving house etc.. If you need me too I can look after the car for a while and conduct some scientific testing and report back on what I find. I'm just that generous
