  1. lol! Nah I'm not having temp control issues, my car is only a 1.8L turbo so my water and oil temps are really good even after lots of thrashing, only added basic just jap oil cooler. Was just using that as an example of forced induction issue considerations. I know it's an issue for all cars but obviously having a big fat heat soaked turbo doesn't help.
  2. Yeah fair point. M3 parts would be rough I reckon =\ I've always wanted one though GT-R idea is still alive - problem of course is money and weight - This is just random musings after dealing with annoying turbo specific issues on the S13. I'm not about to go buy an NA track car just yet lol
  3. RWD would be nice, escort is getting a bit old. Wonder how you'd go with an S2000 engine in an S14... What do they make factory 170-180kw or so? So with a bit of work you might get it to crack the 200kw mark, so say 140-150atw's not lightning quick I guess, probably want a lighter donor chassis.
  4. Just wondering what people think of NA track cars, I've got a turbo S13 and sometimes I wish I didn't have to deal with boost control or worry about afr's as much or deal with increased under bonnet temps and the like. Sure there are many pros to forced induction motoring but there are a few cons too. That got me thinking about what real options people have to go NA. Aside from swapping V8's into smaller cars, which then leads to torque control issues with clutches and diffs etc. NA Silvia's go like puss from what I've seen, even the last model Autech S15's aren't much chop. I guess there's a few BMW's that might be alright but parts are probably pricey, likewise something like an S2000, doubt it's cheap to repair/mod. What do others think and what are people running if you've got a decent NA car that runs respectable times? I'm referring more to track cars based on road cars and not so much things like open wheelers or purpose built things like Radicals. Just my random thoughts for the day.
  5. Marlin didn't I offer you my Silvia and slab for the 34
  6. auto elec said it wasn't needed and used the r33 as an example. Just wondering how that would work too, would you need a fuse to handle the full pca rating or just the cca rating? Voltage at battery is 12.64v and with ignition on it's 12.31v at the connection point in the engine bay. Dunno what it is when cranking as I've only got one pair of hands right now.
  7. Almost done, Wiring is fixed in place under the car, all the terminals have been crimped and wrapped, isolator works fine, voltage from front to rear is good, car cranks well and starts quickly. Just gotta make a bracket to hold the battery in place now, and fix the cable to the boot floor. Orientated the isolator so that I can use the elec aerial hole for the remote pull location. I'm no auto electrician or master mechanic so I'm sure it looks agricultural to some but it works
  8. This bad boy showed up today. Hoping to finish wiring and fire it up this weekend maybe.
  9. No comments on the warping issue?
  10. That's kind of how I read it too. I'm thinking that the only team orders will be race til near the end then see where everyone is in the running order, make a call from there. Anyone of them could bin it on the first corner, and as was mentioned, Mark has been starting pretty poorly.
  11. Just to throw this into the mix. Though I don't know this first hand, I've heard plenty of mention about warping housings when using a bag. This would be something to consider on a race car that sustains high temps. Or is this just an old wives tale?
  12. Wow Kell that is pretty harrowing stuff, so glad to hear that you're in reasonable shape given what the outcome could have been.
  13. I'll take a few more test pics and point out what I'm talking about as far as what I think should/could look better. As for the difference in fstop and iso number, why would the Canon be choosing such a different set of figures and producing a result that so much richer in colour? TBH the Nikon did look more representative of the real colours, the table protector is not that orange.
  14. "Did you expect to just point it at something and have everything turn out awesome?" Well I was hoping so Note at the bottom of my last post I said What am "I" doing wrong. I'm not blaming the camera, I wanted to confirm that there was nothing wrong with it, and I have so that's good but I'd still like to have a better idea on how to get some decent shots out of it and feel like the money was worth it and I appreciaet the feedback I'm getting here Using your anology, even in fully auto mode the lambo is a pretty trick bit of gear, without touching any of the e-gear or traction settings etc it will rock out, the D90 however seems to treat auto mode like running the lambo on 4 cylinders, or about as good as a snazzy looking fiesta. Yes I realised going fully manual would yeild better results, as I'm sure it would in the lambo if you went crazy fine tuning everything, but I did expect that in it's basic auto mode it would still be noticable better in a side by side comparison.
  15. OK Same setup as before. D90 1 Reset done, timer 2 As above 3 Highes F number in P mode 4 Lowest F number in P mode Canon Ixus 80 5 Reset done, fully auto, timer 6 As above The D90 doesn't appear to have gotten any better after reset (no UV filter on any of these pics) Tmie of day is similar and the subject and distance is pretty similar too. The comparison makes the D90 look very overpriced in this basic comparison. Surely the D90 can't be only as good as a basic Canon point and shoot. What am I doing wrong =\
  16. Yeah I confirmed it was Ben also, local news covered it as well.
  17. I read from this question in the post brazil press conference that team orders were allowed in these situations? "Q: (Edd Straw - Autosport) Mark, given that a win today would have meant that you would have gone to Abu Dhabi knowing that a win would be enough to win the championship, and given that there’s a precedent saying that in the title run-in team orders are allowed, should the team have swapped you and Sebastian? " From this link http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2010/11/11491.html Even still... I'd prefer to see Webber take out the last race on his own with Seb 2nd and Alonso anywhere else. If he can't pull that off then you'd have to imagine he'll be replaying his two errors earlier in the season over and over in his head. As much as I disliked Vettel, he has come a long way in the second half of this season. He still looks like and interviews like a douchebag.
  18. Happy to do that next time, but I'm not about to go back and do it for these ones unless the consensus is it's killing people horribly to click the current links lol there's that laziness coming out..
  19. This was another thing I thought about when you guys said you wanted untouched images, when I realised flickr was altering the image I opted for basic file hosting.
  20. I put them on flicker not realising it resizes them, then just chucked them up there as I already had an account for work. I reckon you'll be ok
  21. Links are still working for me?
  22. The dog and car shot were daytime and well lit, the book shot was around 6pm but under the pergola. I've found that without the flash It's almost impossible to get a good shot in low lit indoor scenarios so far, I wasn't overly impressed by the fill of the flash either, and by fill I mean how deep into the photo it can light up. (Trying to take photos of someone doing a speech from a respectable distance for example) But we'll get to that
