Just to get back on topic... it seems nobody has a before and after of actual real world performance differences of removing the A/C but I guess it's such a small gain on its own that it's probably not worth measuring. lol no when you said it was still a valid point but sounded soft, just like when Luke said it. I didn't magically go ZOMG NOW I RUN WITH A/C ON FOREVA lol I just went back to my a/c off and windows down approach, I like wind for some reason. I tend to drive around with the window down all the time too, much to my missis dismay. lol at the navigator comment Agreed, I had a Powerade and drank water all day, ate well and I felt pretty good. It wasn't until I was coming home with the car on the trailer that I really started to feel tired but given the weekend I had that's not that unusual

lol That aside, just saying it's a valid point. It was interesting to see how some people handled fatigue later in the day, which is when more 'incidents' occured. That will also be car fatigue, tyres etc, also. Me, i just keep the windows down and kept my sessions to 5-10laps depending on how the car was feeling.

Something interesting to add. I was at a drive course yesterday and had Luke Youldon as my driver/trainer and he insisted on having the windows up and aircon on explaining that the added comfort would keep me fresh and would do far more for lap times than the small reduction in weight would do. Having said that, once he got out of the car I turned it off and put the windows back down as I prefer to drive that way. It was only 22 yesterday so it was hardly hot weather. At this stage, it's still in the car.

Not as yet, won't have any until next time it comes out which shouldn't be too far as I might be putting some new bolt holes in it for the missus. Hot damn

Not sure if an NA would pop flames without a cat, would depend on the tune of course. A lot of turbo cars will get some flames happening without a cat due to the richer tune.

Drive your car up onto two bits of wood or something first then you can put something on top of the jack to give you the extra height you need, also, be sure it's on stands to work on it. Don't stress, with all the people there, we'll find a way to swap it out. Or if you're staying down there just do it at the hotel/caravan park etc and drive it to winton from there.

Without a doubt Don't get caught on the street with that de-cat pipe. They are illegal and being an emissions related offense will carry a heavy fine. Swap it on at that the track. There will be more than enough jacks and tools if you don't have your own

I've been thinking about this all day, still not swayed either way. I can see myself (and the missus) appreciating having the air con when staging etc coming into the warmer weather but also see that it IS weight that can be lost and a tiny bit less for the engine to do, though not much as it's obviously only requiring work when it's engaged. Hmm... lol
