ZF 8HP Conversion?
No Crust Racing replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
This is all part of the learning. I'm not up on auto swaps. Would you not stick with the torque convertor the box comes with? I guess that depends on what flex plate options exist. -
ZF 8HP Conversion?
No Crust Racing replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
As I understand it, the GCU from HGT does all of that though as mentioned I would expect it would want input from the ECU. ECU for my car has not been selected yet, but almost certainly Halaltech as that's my tuners preference. They had a Video of one in a Mazda3 so they're already being put in non optioned cars. As for mating to the engine, yes bellhousing/adapter plate, no different than me using Z32 or CD009 (but I get there's off the shelf solutions for those options and tailshaft etc). -
The ZF 8HP is getting lots of praise for it's fast shifts, cost, robustness etc. A stand alone control unit for one is around 1.5k AUD - http://htg-tuning.com/ 8HP-70 through that supplier is 2.4k, and I'd think you could source one cheaper locally (the 70 and 75 variants are used in 3 Series and 5 Series BMW respectively) The models relate to torque ratings but are apparently under rated (fine for my SR, maybe not for your big boy RB setups). The supplier states the box will fit the s chassis tunnel "needs a little hammerwork to fit into the tunnel, although not extensive, easily doable". Given what a Z32 or CD009 conversion will cost, I wonder if this would be a better choice? Faster shifts, no mishifts, flappy paddles, ultimately smoother and faster power delivery, it can skip shift, etc. I would love to one day do WTAC clubsprint and I'm not sure if an auto swap like that is allowed, the rules are unclear (I've emailed them for clarification). That aside though, I wonder what that would be like - Looks ok in action here?

I hope you prepped it well, stock LS don't last long at 300rwkw. Accumulator at a minimum. -

235kw Japanese engine in Aus Maxima
No Crust Racing replied to Aus Max j31's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Looks about as fast as I'd expect a Maxima to be? Very hard to beleive any of the claimed race results, but ultimately I don't really care. I'm only commenting to say you'd have had a better reaction here taking a different route. "Got a new Maxima, love it!" and posting some pics = positive commenting from people. "Got a new Maxmia, faster than I thought?" = people genuinly trying to help you understand it's specs/details and real world performance. "235kw Japanese engine in Aus Maxima" + claims of racing cars with SUBSTANTIALLY MORE POWER and either keeping up or winning = redicule. Let's be real here, you said "Two times in succession reeled in FG XR8 Sprint 100 kph to 230 kph Blown Miami V8 has 650 on over boost Lost 10 car lengths when hit gas at 100 kph but slowly reeled him back at 170 gaining rapidly on phone going I’m coming bro then at 200 up it’s ass saying get the f**k out of the way Past it at 215 strongly his blower howling" No it did not. The 10 car lengths sounds right, and then him lifting at 170 or just waiting fo you to catch up if it's a mate. Again, let's be real. Even if your Maxima has a "special" VQ, the best street VQ setups getting around barely crack 230-240rwkw (just over 300-320rwhp) - with ALL the fruit which would be very obvious in an engine bay. Who knows, maybe a hair more on e85 if someone is that stupid. Not only would you have HALF the power, you would have FAR LESS torque VS a blown V8. Which means as speeds rise and torque is more essential the gap would be WORSE. There is nothing at all beleivable about that story, nothing at all. Sasha Anis has one of the best NA VQ setups in the world and still less power than the FG and it's so heavily modified that one look at a picture of it can tell you that it's making power. I love the idea of rare and factory special cars, they exist, it's amazing to find one in the wild, but Nissan had NOTHING available at the time your car was made to bring it anywhere close to the performance of the cars you claim. Even current VQs are no where near the performance of the cars you are talking about and you're talking about doing it with a 4spd auto. If you are really sticking to your guns on these stories, go to a drag strip and post a slip. This should be an easy 11-12s car based on what it's beating. A stock XR8 sprint will do an easy flat 13 at 110--15mph so you should be substantially faster than that. Which is weird, because in your video after 13s, you are barely touching 160, and that FG is doing 180 (and it's stock). Also, a stock XR8 sprint has 400kw on overboost, at the engine, which is around 520hp. No idea where you got 650 from? I assume you misread the a spec sheet and mistook the 650Nm of torque as its power figure. Can you see why nobody beleives what you're saying? You're not the first or the last to come here and make big unsubstantiated claims then never back them up. I'm ashamed for typing so much so I'm unsubscribing now Enjoy the car. -
Good work. What shocks are in it? I found that my car had a lot more grip opn stock sway bars, with a whiteline in the front and GT-R in the rear it was full flat cap drift spec and just wanted to slide everywhere and would not transition weight smoothly. Could be because it has those cheapo BC golds in it, firm spring etc.

What does deloading look like for you all? I am guilty of completely ignoring this concept.
-
I was just doing some reading on overtraining and, food, sleep, and stress play into it as well. Guilty...
-
Example, something like this worth testing? https://www.bodybuilding.com/content/what-is-the-best-full-body-workout-for-muscle-gain.html

I can probably mostly pre-fill it now. I'll look at it. As for the routine itself, is something lke I suggested overtraining still given the repetition of certain exercises? Is there a generally agreed good full body weekly routine for beginners/intermediate?
-
What do you guys think about how often to hit a muscle group. I think a part of my problem is overtraining, but at the same time I don't do heavy enough weight to feel lik I could hit squat once a week only. If I drop this idea of "gains", which just doesn't seem doable with my current project work load as in working around the property etc so less recovery time, and just thinkg general fitness/maintenance then what does that look like in a routine of 3x 30min sessions? Something like; Mon Bench Squat Ez Bar Curls Close Grip Bench Wed Bench Squat Lunges Ez Bar Rows Fri Bench Squat Weighted Chins Weight Dips That drops dumbell curls completely, removes some close grip bench, but also drops good mornings which might be better for me as lower back strength/core strength is important, but I would like bigger arms. I have an ok size chest/glutes for my naturally slender frame, but would like bigger arms, the last time They were an OK size to me, i was at 92kg bodyweight and carrying a bit more body fat. I can't see myself getting back to 92kg without serious dedicaiton, I'm too busy, too injury prone. I had no kids back then. Or suggest a good maintenance routine that I can knock over in 30mins or so (not inc warm up etc) and maintain 3x a week.

He sounds like a cool guy, cannot believe he stole my nickname though... it was given to me by my mates back when I used to be cool. Who TF does he think he is...
-
Wagons bro, fairly uncool. But that said, I also thought an RS6 or something would be fun lol I think I'll still like the idea of a 335i/435i as a cheap fun weekender. Tune, intake, zorst and some carbon rice bits and enjoy for a year or two then flog it off nefore it needs eleventy repairs. Just waiting for the 2km dirt road to my place to get sealed, then I just have to deal with the 400m or so of dirt driveway on my property and the 30 od degree incline at one point lol Won't be sealing that, not spending 100k on bitument lol

I am still to get the Prado tuned, but all things point to it being a good thing (even NA as they are really very lazy). As much as Golf R would be fun, I would feel like a bit of a girl driving it to be honest, that's more my hang up about hatches, but when I drive a car only on weekends/for fun etc I want it to look cool and VW don't make anything that looks cool. Maybe the Scirocco or whatever it was called?
