Sounds Good Hopefully I can talk to some people this time. Got a little lost last time. I need some advice on car stuff and was hoping that someone there has some knowledge. Sorry I had to miss the Ocean road trip. WHen is the next one?
-
Hi, I am lookign forward to meeting everyone. I have only recently come to my senses and got myself my dream car. Do people drive, because it is very close to the tram? Would it be better for the R35 video to convert it to a portable format like DivX and then plug into the TV there?

I dont know if there will be enough time to go for a introductory Sayonara Drink but I will look into it. Anyway see you all another time. Bart

Heres a freebie. The TV uses a different freq than OZ so you will either have to use the search to see if there is a fix on SAU or ask a TV type person as it is complex.
-
Button 1 says guide Button 3 says Route (Maybe for car navi) Button 4 says menu button 11 is hard to read maybe part view (please take another photo or ask someone with better japanese) button between 9 and 10 says TV Button between 10 and 7 says open/close Button between 5 and 6 I think is cancel. PS if you looked up basic katakana and hiragana (ie hte basic letters) then you could read it too. You would have to let me have some time light and sobriety to look up the other ones. You own a japanese car, how about learning some japanese ABCs?
-
sorry to be so harsh but i think you should fix the spelling errors on teh front page of your web page. "Direct Imported delivers a personal _ohnest_ service you wouldn't ..." hey lets say you owe me a beer when you visit osaka-kobe area. Bart PS anyone else up for a drink some time?

Went for a trip on Thursday Northern Nishinomiya. They call it the country.. sAfrican American Anyway, some photos to prove that A) You can find vending machines anywhere B) Just because it is on a map does not mean that it has been washed away and no body bothered to tell you about it. C) There is always room for riceing D) There are wild animals in Japan E) Onsens are stupidly hot after 30 mins my feet could still not stand it

Its the one you see on all car adds

THere are new phones available in japan that allow the japanese networks to work overseas but NO your foreign phone will not work on the japanese networks. Check your company info you will find that japan is not on their international roaming list Some phones do use sims but I think they are different and from what I can tell of our phone here it can only work in japan. We are leaving in December anyone want a good so506ic ie 6 months old? you can get it on a pay as you go plan just like in australia.
-
THe chances of you going to the country side at the moment are very low. Nova are screaming for teachers because of a fair bit of bad management at every level of Nova. Dont worry we asked to go to the country and we got Nishinomiya a city of 500,000 and only 30 mins from osaka.

I went to Jidai Matsuri on the weekend. It is a festival in Kyoto. Here are some pictures. I met a crazy old man and he talked us inside the temple at the ned of the procession. As in I was the only Gaijin in the temple who wasnt in the parade. THe other guys are Italians who got to dress up and be in the floats, how crap is that. Tehy didnt even know how to wear or look after the swords and clothes that they were dressed in. I hate that.

Yeah we found some but it was called lemon water and yep is was amrchants lemonade. Well I cant go past Kitsune Udon or Inari zushi. Both made with oagesan. Sweet fried tofu. Tofu here is that crap cold white stuff so to find good fried tofu like in australia is great. Bad food umeboshi. Damn right from before everyone I know takes that terrible little ball of sour plum of off their rice and throws it away. Natto. Never had it nerver want to. Drink, all you guys here must admitt that although they are technically a girls drink chuuhi are the greatest "get S**T faced" drink invented. But if you wat to be more exotic try oni no kage (Ithink that s it) it is about 800yen for 2L and 13%. THat is the smoothest stuff. Shouchuu.

they pay you to travel and try to help you a little with how to travel but dont worry about anything it is all fixed for you. As for food if you get good housemates that should be an easy matter of talking to them and finding out where to buy cheap and what to buy. Dont worry if you get the right housemates eating will be the last thing on your shopping list as drinking will use up all your money. NOVA do it all thats why they charge through the nose. THey take all the risk on you so you pay for it. but then again they really dont want you to be in the company in 12 months unless you are a team player and like puttin gup with their shit. But all that said this has been a great six month holiday from reall work in australia so I am loving it. Had a Iaido grading yesterday and missed 1st kyu only got 2nd kyu after 4 months. Had a Japanese speech contest today, came last and got the please stop studying Japanese award. Who would have thought the Japanese had a sense of humour.

I think that organising it before you go is stipulkated in the interviews. IF you have a place to live you have to tell them and they will post you near where you will be living. Looking at www.kfm.to might help but it would be very hard from another country. Just let Nova settlt you in you can find some friends and things to do while its safe and easy and while you still ahve the escape clause and then move out and save a shit load of money. Or do as acquaintences of mine did and be evicted because you have too many parties in your house and then find an absolutely great place with your currently two or three also evicted house mates and be the envy of all of your other Nova friends.
-
Well now for the crapper photos. Do you guys want to see only cars?
-
Absolutely right anyone who thinks that buying and selling needs language needs to travel some more. THe almighty dollar is all that it takes for trade and negotiation. Everyone speeks the same langauage. I could even make them understand discount in a shop and have saved up to 20,000yen ($200) doing so. Food is easy. Point and then eat if it tastes bad then try and remember or say what is this, in english and try to remember not to have it again. OK so you will forget and you will eat the same thing again that you found discusting but then that is cultural experience isnt it. If you cant find a map in english then you need to talk to your local international association. They give away shitloads of free stuff and are there for free help with translation etc. If you havent found an int assoc then you are suffering from NOVA itis and trying to learn a culture from your living room with the TV on english translation. BElieve me you can come here knowing nothing as long as you let people help you. Obviously if the company you work for isnt in to setting up stuff for you then it will be hard expecially finding a place to live but that is what the helpful people at SAUJapan are for. EOF

Just thoughts I would try to start where Rezz finished off. I dont claim to have anywhere near the photo ops that he did but here we go.
-
So anyone still in the area between Osaka and Kobe who can meet up for drinks some time. Getting a little twitchy after some friends left for other countries. Theres only so much sake you can drink while watching Chambara befoer you need to have a drink with real people.
-
Im Not sick of it. Thought I saw Rezz the other day as a white guy in a maroon Skyline whized past up route 171. But obviously not. He must have been out of the country by then. Lets try some pics.
