-
Best looking 32GTR i've ever seen!! Awesome car mate!!
-
I pretty much like all the badges as they are... wouldn't feel like a stagea without 'em...

It might be worth noting that topgear (the uk car show) guys have driven r32,33 & 34 gtrs and had no troubles with handling. They are used to driving supercars and performance cars and not just subarus and audi quattros. They actually said the gtr was a bit "boring" because it is full of technology that "thinks" for you so that you dont need to worry about cornering etc... They said the car looks after you particularly in cornering and they likened it to a "playstation on wheels". So obviously they had fun with them, and surely if they were going to criticize anything it would be the handling but it wasn't. All they criticized is that the car does everything for you so therefore it made driving them a bit boring. Thats fair enough since normally when they test cars they turn all forms of driving aids off (traction control etc.) just my 2c. If you're unsure, go and testdrive the WRX that is supposed to outhandle a GT-R and then go and testdrive said GT-R. Its your call really

blue and black looks too much like ford shirts... i still prefer the blue one anyways...

woohoo I got spotted at last!! yeah that would be me on greenhill rd. White series 2 stag. now with 50% more power than what it had back when you saw it at the cruise (august was it?). Just out of interest, does anyone know of another series 2 stagea in adelaide?? (most notable differences are clear rear indicators and different front grille/separate hi-beam lights etc.) I've seen about 8-9 different s1's, but no other s2's yet...
-
powerfc will only work with the manual so make that exhaust, cooler and piggyback, and boost controller if it doesn't have one. enjoy the stag!!

pretty sure the m35's are available through sevs now... http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/modul....php?storyid=23 according to that link they are needing a "volunteer" m35 stagea to sort out the compliancing. first in gets free compliance (although it would likely take longer) as they find out what it needs. Good deal for anyone interested. as far as i know it shares its engine (and gearbox?) with the 350z so parts in australia should in theory be available. body panels etc. would still need importing as with our current stageas so nothing we dont already live with.

If you like the look of the stagea then you're 90% of the way to buying one. Quite simply its the practicality of a wagon combined with sporty looks and awesome performance potential and awd safety and traction and a thousand other things...I could keep going... There are so many reasons to buy one. In my opinion the stagea caters for people who want a skyline but need more space than a skyline allows. But in some ways I would still choose a stagea over a skyline even when space isn't an issue. I think the stagea interior is nicer, and they have AWD, plus I think its cool to have a nice sporty wagon with enough grunt (with some mods) to toast your average v8. (generalising i know...) You can have convenience AND performance in the one car. The ride isn't perfect but I think you'll find that for the money it is THE best handling and best performing wagon around. I've got a series 2. After a few mods it now has 150awkw and I love driving it. Best car I ever owned. Just a tip - if you happen to buy an auto and find that you cant reasonably afford a manual conversion - then DO get an shift kit (valve body upgrade) fitted to the auto box. As long as the shift harshness isn't overboard it can really improve shift quality and isn't rough to drive at all. And with tiptronic (which I have) its probably quicker changing gears than a manual (by the time you move your foot to the clutch etc..) - still not the same as a manual but like I said, if a manual becomes out of your reach...the auto can still be fun And some figures, a few thousand dollars extra should give you around the same power as I have. 0-100km/h should be possible in under 7s (not sure exactly) and driving in adelaide in mostly peak hour traffic I average 12.5L/100km. So then, let us know when u buy yours - and dont forget to post pics

My series 2 (auto) has no "O/D off" button and no "power" button so I guess that makes the whole "do i leave it on or off?" thing pretty simple I think the rationale is that the tiptronic pretty much replaces the other two. Plus it will still hit power mode if I put my foot down hard. But I would prefer the option to use power mode and still have it change gears for me. I read somewhere that power mode not only changes the shift points, it also makes the throttle more sensitive and generally "feels" more responsive. Thats how it worked on my turbo silvia anyway.

Hi Ive Got Boost Probs With My R33. Pls Help!
pixel8r replied to princess01's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I had similar problems with my last car (silvia turbo). Cleaning the air flow meter helped (take it out, run some metho over the element that sits in the middle of the afm (do NOT touch any wires with your fingers), let it dry fully then put it back in the car). Not sure what the problem was exactly. It seemed to do it more in hot weather or after the car had heated up a bit. The reason cleaning my afm helped was because I was using an oiled air filter (k&n) and they tend get oil all over the element in the afm. I changed back to a dry air filter and had much better results. Cant say if the afm was the problem. I suspect the problem may have been elsewhere and just made worse by the afm reading incorrectly. Other suggestions might be to check the fuel pump?? dunno. Does it seem to accelerate ok up to when you'd hit boost? Does it stutter or just really bog down and you get nothing? In my case the revs would build up slowly and it would seem to pick up a little but it was terrible. And only after 15-20 minutes or so of driving. Often I could turn the car off then back on and it would be fine for a couple of minutes. -
haha thats why you're selling the s15 and keeping the r34 I also agree that kralster's r34 is a nice car kralster, good luck with buying a v35! Dont see many (any?) of those around. Pity they're NA but all the same I dont mind them.

Is it popping or "wurbling"? I've got a S2 stagea (same engine, and 3" turbo-back exhaust - same design as for a skyline just a bit longer) and if I take my foot off the accelerator or just hold it there lightly to coast down it will sometimes make a kind of 'wurbling' noise. This is quite normal with an aftermarket exhaust. For me it only ever occurs on deceleration or just cruising with the accelerator only slightly pressed or not at all. Also some people have mentioned their exhausts popping on gearchange, which I believe had something to do with running rich...but cant be sure. If this isn't it then hopefully u sort it out soon

Photoshoot, Skylines Only (stageas Welcome)

EDIT: Oops, just realised I may not be able to come on the scs saturday. damn. Oh well, I'll be there if at all possible, otherwise I'll look forward to seeing the pics... -
A few more stageas in SA wouldn't hurt Its great to have a unique car, but maybe not so unique everyone's first reaction is "what is that?! is it a volvo?". I'd rather people think "nice stagea" than "is that a volvo?"
-
Just buy a stagea (a whole one) or, more seriously, you could just go the GTR. Stageas do also come in manual, meaning you can still tune using powerfc for these. Otherwise for the auto stagea engine/gearbox you can still use piggybacks (SAFC/SITC etc) which work well. Many stagea autos with 200+awkw which in a skyline would be very quick. but for the money I reckon a GTR is the better option. Brakes, suspension and everything has all been designed to handle the power and its already AWD and everything so you have the power of the RB26 and the traction of AWD. Back to the stagea...consider it as a great option for a practical wagon that is still basically a skyline under the bonnet. Its got the AWD system and (front) suspension from the GTR, RB25DET from the gtst(s1) or gtt(s2), and with a few mods can easily produce a nice 200awkw, even with the auto. If you need more space, more doors, or even just more unique-ness, but dont want to give up your interest in skylines & turbos, one word.....stagea!

Photoshoot, Skylines Only (stageas Welcome)
pixel8r replied to (OO Black 33 OO)'s topic in South Australia
I'd love to come along!! Any objections to a series 2 Stagea coming along? It looks stock but it isn't (3" turbo-back exhaust, GT30 turbo, boost controller set to 11psi, safc, shift kit). 170rwkw (about ~150awkw). mt lofty would be cool. Are we talking about the botanic gardens carpark? might be difficult to get any scenery in the background with that carpark... Wouldn't bother me though - I'd be happy with a nice pic of my car and some pics of skylines "lined" up together. The whole photoshoot thing is a great idea btw!! -
For a cheap, yet reliable boost controller you could try a needle-valve one, for example turbotech (search this forum for $22 boost controller). More reliable than a bleed-valve. They work by restricting the pressure that the wastegate sees until the desired boost is reached, thereby building boost quicker than stock and many people have had good results with them. I have a similar boost controller that I bought off ebay for $35 including postage and it works fairly well. Not as good as something like the AVCR but for the money you cant go past it. I'd at least get an SAFCI (blue screen) or SAFCII to tune your Air/Fuel Ratios. Not only can this give you more power, it also makes your top end cleaner. You'll notice a difference. I've got a S2 stagea, 3" turbo-back exhaust, the above-mentioned boost controller set to 11psi, safcI, tiptronic auto with shift kit, and I have 170rwkw (or approx 150kw at all 4 wheels, but it was tuned on a 2wd dyno). Before the safc was installed it ran really rich at the top end and surged a bit then went really flat at the top end. After the safc was installed and tuned it was a completely different story. My power graph is smooth and so is the power delivery. There is no decrease in power right up to the redline. It sounds great and runs perfect. I really love driving it now. I think the safc and a good tune will make the difference you guys are looking for.

Like newkleer said, the self learning only affects cruise conditions, whereas I know the SAFC only works on anything over 50% throttle, so the piggybacks do work well. Not sure if the DFA works similar to the SAFC or not.

Too bad I already own the perfect stag lol! Seriously what I mean is that once you find a stagea you're happy with and have owned it for a few months, ironed out any problems (if any exist), and start to personalise it and modify it (if you wish to), it will be your perfect STAGEA! Good luck with your search. As long as you get a stag in fairly good condition, you wont be disappointed.

I've got a s2, basically because I just wanted the best I could get at the time. The price difference was still quite considerable between s1 and s2. If you're just after performance and value for money then the s1 is your best option. For the same price as a good s2 you could have a s1 plus enough mods to make it look, sound, and go better than a s2. My reasons for choosing a series 2 were: - Looks (actually I like both) - extra ~20kw - better fuel economy - infinitely variable valve timing (i think the earlier rb25 is like on-off) - direct injection (is this true?) - newer, so likely less km's - tiptronic auto - bigger brakes I think in the end its personal preference - and the reason I say that is because if you want value for money then get a series 1 - but if you really prefer the series 2 then there's your answer.

Just want some peace of mind and some advice/opinions. Below is a pic of my left front radius rod bush. Quality isn't great due to it being dark and not great for photo-taking but it was the best I could do and still shows the signs of wear. I've lightened it up on my pc and improved contrast so as to highlight the wear marks. Both left and right bushes look much the same. The other side of each is fine, no wear marks at all - so what you see here is only on one side of each one. To me it doesn't look bad enough to require replacement. Let me know if you agree/disagree. I'll be driving interstate (2000km) in a month's time and want to be 100% sure it'll be safe. (I've done the trip several times before so not real concerned about anything else). Thanks.

Where can I find insurance for my import?
pixel8r replied to PranK's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'm 24 and pay ~$900 comprehensive for a stagea s2. I'm with Just Car Insurance. Excess is like $1400. At the beginning of last year I had a turbo silvia which they insured for ~$850. I'm rating 1 which helps. At 19 I insured a na silvia through a broker for $1700 a year.
