  1. The thing that does it is all the grip you have at the rear, if you had skinnier tires all the force from the clutch dump would've gone in to wheelspin but with as much grip as you have that force has no where to go. The whole driveline gets massive stress and the weakest link snaps.
  2. It snapped at the weakest point at the very base of the radius that's machined on the shaft. It looks like a normal sort of break on a drive shaft after a big clutch dump, the massive shock through the driveline gives a clean snap. Just be thankful that broke instead of your gearbox.
  3. I'm assuming you actually mean the flywheel, is it an aftermarket flywheel?
  4. Measure them with a micrometer to make sure they're not too different in thickness. Even though they might look the same it's hard to tell the difference by eye when it might only be 0.1-0.2mm thicker than the other.
  5. It loves it when it's going down hills not up them.
  6. Apart from being a prick on the street taking of from a stand still there's no problem using a button clutch on an rb25 box. You can do damage to an rb25 box with just about any clutch if you have no mechanical sympathy ei. dumping the clutch at 7000rpm to get bitches or flat shifting gears to beat a sik dosed up vl.
  7. I meant when remapping a stock ecu and yes i should've added that.
  8. Hi, as the title said i'm after peoples experiences with pushing the stock RB25 throttle until it can't be pushed anymore. What sort of power can i expect before it starts restricting too much?
  9. I hate to say it but you got screwed. I'm not sure on the flow rate of rx7 injectors or if they are them but you cannot run injectors with mismatched flow rates. If the two odd ones flow more than the gtr injectors those two cylinders will run richer and there's no way you can control each injector individually.
  10. Dude thats just a shit tune. I know microtech's are a bit ancient compared to some other stuff but you can still get them to work well with a good tune.
  11. Do the R33's have rubber bushings on the rear cradle mounts? I'm only familiar with R32's
  12. Shot gun your side feed injector plugs! He doesn't need to with microtech.
  13. That sounds about right. The bushes in the JJR arms are solid as f**k compared to stock and all the little humps and bumps the stock bushes would normally absorb sounds like knocking in the suspension with the more solid JJR arms. What other suspension mods have you done to the rear?
  14. Is it a knocking sound?
  15. If they were working ok ei. not shuddering or screeching before then they started it would be due to improper wear in of the pads. If you don't wear the pads in properly they glaze as DVS32R said. Glazing makes them squeel, then over heats your rotors causing them to warp and gives you shudder.
  16. Did the brakes work ok when you first drove it after having the pads changed and rotors machined?
  17. If you say thats exactly how it looked when it snapped then it's definatley a problem with the casting. I don't know what tomei's quality control in reguards to crack testing is but this one slipped through. The dull outer area would be coolant that seeped into the crack during grinding. You can snap a perfectly good cast cam from improper installation or removal but any micro cracks in the castin will make it snap a lot easier.
  18. It's just a stripped r32 gtr with some paint and stickers.... hardly a replica.
  19. Where's the evidence to say that australian and japanese tuners always tune in this way? It doesn't seem like it's something you can generalise.
  20. I was just looking at page 7 and rezlo had pics up of his broken n1 pump. It's not hard to see why the are prone to failure, the outer gear wall thickness from the root of the tooth to the outer diameter is paper thin and the sharp radius at the base of each tooth is a definate stress piont. Has anyone considered it could be the outer gear failing causing it to jam and break the inner? Being sintered iron doesn't help matters either.
  21. If all the marks are lined up then you're valve timing is fine.
  22. Put a ratchet on the front balancer bolt and turn it over with your hand to make sure it doesn't hit any valves. I accidentally put my timing belt on 180 degrees out once and the pistons bent some valves, it didn't hit that much but it was enough to tweak the valves so they didn't seal properly.
  23. The clutch will work. I think the only issue with putting a twin plate in is the pivot point for the clutch fork has to change because they're a different length from stock, i'm not sure if it has to be shortened or lengthened but i think some companies make pivot balls to suit twin plates.
  24. yeah it looks like a 1.5 way, i've seen a 2 way and that has angle cams the same shape either side and a 1 way as you said has a flat one side so it doesn't thrust at all under decel.
  25. If you're in melbourne dr drift can re-tune a stock rb20 ecu.
