  1. Next Instalment of my R32 problems.... The standard boost gauge i have (as you will all know) reads from -7 to + 7... NOW.. I have an exhuast system and airpod, and the boost is turned up a little via a bleed valve... All these items have been on car since purchase.... Normally when i drive, and am not giving any throttle, it sits at -7, then goes up accordingly depending how much throttle i give.. Last night, driving up the freeway, i noticed that after i got off, it sat at the 0 mark.. and when i got to my destination and let it idle... it stayed at 0... it also started from 0 when starting up, and now stays there when not accelerating all the time.. I'm not sure if this means the turbo is on boost or not... I'm thinking it may not be, but need to be sure... I have a turbo timer, and drove to work this morning.. now, the turbo timer is pretty good in normal mode, where by if i drive 20 mins, at 60km or just normal peak hour adelaide traffic, it doesn't need to count down... this morning it didn't either, so im thinking that the turbo couldn't have been out of the norm, and been boosting, coz if it had, i would have to have done at least a 40 sec timer... hmmm... anyone got any ideas? I also noticed when i accelerated above 100, there was a whistling/static electric sound, coming from near where you turn the headlights on... i also have a problem with them, where, i turn them on, and the front left light doesn't always come on...i have to jiggle the switch... Someone help me please!!! I'm losing my faith in Jap cars... i sold my eurotrash for a japcrap...aaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!
  2. Hmm well theres a few ideas for me to think about... cheers guys... I drove all the way to Mt Barker and back lastnight, and didn't smell petrol at all!!! So it's not a consistent problem... Bit dangerous though... I might get high when im driving on one of my coastal cruises one day! Ah, so annoying, I've only had my car for a month or so... and now i am having a problem, with what i hope is my boost gauge (standard)... gonna post a thread about that one too... Stay tuned for the next installment of James' R32 issues....
  3. Interesting problem... I can smell petrol in my car almost evertime i drive it now... Sometimes its pretty bad... BUT... i cannot see any leaks.... Now, i filled my car up on the weekend, went into the shop to pay, and came back out and noticed drips from under the tank on the drivers side... but it wasn't coming out the inlet.. after driving out of the petrol station the drips stopped.. the only other time i have seen it drip, is when i jacked it up a few weeks ago and the car was tilting towards the drivers side.. I'm thinking there may be a whole at the top of the petrol tank...? Anyone else had a similar problem they can share?
  4. Cool thanks for that... I need to get a new water pump quite possibly..
  5. Yeah thats what i thought before... But now i can actually see coolant underneath and behind the water pump area...
  6. Where are Boostworx?
  7. Anyone know of any reputable mechanics to service our imports? I always hear the bad stories....
  8. Yeah www.importspares.com.au Word of warning though, a mate of mine got a SR20DET Black top from them, and it packed up after two weeks and there was no warranty... Obviously make your own mind up about them though... For parts that can't f** up it should be ok...
  9. Yeah i got a mate that knows how to replace the pump, so can help me out... I wanna change the timing belt anyway so thats all good.... Hmm...have to work out my finances by the sounds of it, and i just sold my old car too!! FARK! Thanks for the help guys.
  10. Really? Mines a 92 and had the amber... why would they go backwards in design? All newer models of cars seem to come out with the clear ones...
  11. Import Spares in Windsor Gardens, they are genuine nissan ones...they came out on R32's...
  12. Hmmm yeah jezzerr....I was thinking its that too... But mine happens after it has warmed up....i just started it then and let it idle....after a couple of minutes it started to drip... i had a look underneath, and i can see coolant around behind the water pump, but it drips on the passenger side of the block..not where the pump is...but i guess it could run there.... Could be just a gasket? How much do you reckon it would cost to get the pump replaced...and the timing belt since you have to take that off... the guy at import spares reckoned $500!!
  13. Hey all, Has anyone else had this happen...? In my second week of owning my sweet new ride.. i was driving up the freeway, and when i got to my destination, i noticed that my front left indicator (as in the one next to the headlight) was gone!!! No scratches on car or anything, i know it was on there when i got in too!! After purchasing some new indicators (this time the clear ones... the previous were full amber) i noticed the stupid design of only holding the indicators in by one screw and a clip!! The indicators aren't completely flush against the headlights either, but they are flush against the car... (the curve of the light is at a different angle) The reason i ask, is that when i went to Import Spares, the guy wasn't surprised when i told him what happened!! Weird eh?
  14. Yeah my 32 does the same thing! Had the car for a month now... But yeah, i have an aftermarket wheel too... the light only comes on after about 20 or so minutes, and mostly on the freeway...
  15. If its the water pump, wouldn't it be leaking out fast..? Coz its just a drip... Underneath the car it would be lined up near the turbo area... Its strange, because i noticed the leak two weeks before it decided to over heat, and it was fine in that two weeks, then all of a sudden it went three quarter hot. When i looked under the car, it was dripping faster.... But now its just back to the minor dripping... Hopefully that made sense....
  16. Hey! I have a coolant leak on the passenger side of the engine.... well thats where the drip is under the car anyway... Me and a mate originally thought it was that stupid 3inch hose on the drivers side (thats a bitch to get back on too!!) But after starting up...theres still a leak... Thinking it may be the hose feeding coolant to cool the turbo... (or hoping, coz i don't want it to be the water pump!) Has anyone else had a similar problem? Understand its a pretty stupid question, as everyones car is different....but if theres a hose thats prone to go on the RB20DETS it may help me out.... (have only owned car for 3 weeks....its my first turbo too...) Cheers for ya help! James
