  1. ^^^^^ With regards to my last post, i have found how to do it.... Google is a great tool. Cheers Steve
  2. Hi guys I have purchased one of these controllers a few months ago for my project and have fitted it this arvo to my RB20 Datsun. I have read up to page 16 and will continue to read the rest tonight but have a question on the installation regarding external gates.... I have a GT35R with 0.63 exhaust and a Turbonetics 38mm gate. On the top of the gate it has a nipple thats marked "vacuum" and on the side of it another nipple marked "boost". I currently have the boost pickup from the manifold to the bottom of the controller and the side of the controller hose goes to the "boost" nipple on the gate. The "vacuum" nipple is not being used. On my first test drive it went to 18psi on half throttle and i tested a couple more times thinking i was dreaming. I pulled the controller apart and the ball was in the side nipple. (my mate was playing with it). I put the ball in the bottom and then the spring on top of it and did it all up again with the bolt just supplying pressure to the spring. Off i go again and wham huge boost again at minimal throttle. The gate has a 9psi spring installed but i would like to run 15psi for the time being. Does anyone have any ideas as to whats wrong.... Other than its a Datsun 120Y. Cheers Steve
  3. $200 cash... I will come and pick it up Thursday night me - 0402 642006
  4. WOW... What a read. I got to half way and decided just to order one. I will need all the response i can get.
  5. Braced and modified the standard one with 5mm plate. I would not try the conversion again. There was a cockup with the original measurements and we found that it would fit nicely..... Until I purchased the engine and sat it in the engine bay and thought, fark what a waste of money. We decided to fit it anyway and have it as a drag car. After talking to some engineers/mod platers we were confident enough that we can keep it street legal, except for a screamer pipe. So far so good.
  6. Anyone want a cheap GT35R???? I think I will do the whole trial and error theory. Just drive it and see how it reacts and change it to suit my needs later. The turbo is rated at 450hp??? i think so. I got the 0.63rear housing and even though its BB it will still be laggy??? Stay tuned for a cheap turbo... Never boosted.
  7. Sorry ... it has retractable seat belt conversion and i have edited original post to inc brakes. Too many mods to remember all of it. Some more pics....
  8. Hello guys, I have been reading alot of what you all have to say and thought I would fire a couple of questions your way - 1. I have narrowed my Hi stall selection down to either a 3500 or a 4000. What would you run in a 900kg car??? 2. I have just changed from a single row SR20 radiator to a R31 twin row with two 13" thermo fans. Would this be enough to keep her cool??? 3. Has anyone got a wiring diagram for the Infinity air flow meter??? 4. Does anyone think I will be driving a laggy bitch??? I read the RB20 thread and it has me scared. Looking for 320 - 350rwhp then 400 after rebuild. Specs so far...... Datsun 120y sedan RB20DET RB25DET Auto w/shift kit Garrett GT35R Ball Bearing turbo. Front a/r 0.7 - exhaust a/r 0.63 GTR Injectors Remapped ECU - Not done yet Z32 MAF or 90mm Infinity R31 fuel pump cradle modified to fit std tank with Walbro pump High mount manifold 38mm Turbonetics wastegate New Monaro 300mm slotted rotors with twin pot calipers & 13/16 master cyl. 3.6 ratio Mazda Bravo diff with 5-stud conversion to match front 205/50/15 street slicks - 587mm OD I realise its not a Skyline but any thoughts you may have to help me then that would be cool. Cheers Steve
  9. Yes the engine was done in Australia.... He is jamming a RB20 into my Datsun 120y at the moment.
  10. Thanks for your opinion mate... I agree with your diff ratio suggestion I have a 5.4 ratio in the garage but thought this would be too short. I guess it doesn't take long to change it back if it doesn't work. I would like to keep it a bit street orientated but yes my main focus is the drags. The reason why such small tyres is they are the largest tyres that i can fit for street legalities and the smallest rim that will clear my brakes is 15". I have a pair of 225/50/15 street slicks which would be great but i need to send QLD DOT a comprehensive list of reasons and how it will effect the performance of handling/braking etc just to run a tyre that is 15mm outside the specs that they allow. I ran this tyre on my coupe and was defected. This time i wont be. Did you mean just cams or std cams with adjustable gears??? Thanks again for answering mate. Cheers Steve
  11. Just a quick question as to what you guys reccomend me to run as my HI-Stall speed. I am thinking of a 3500rpm stall speed. If I get it wrong it will be a pain in the arse to remove transmission as the engine has to come out with it. What do you think??? Has anyone done one with a big turbo??? Specs as follows - Datsun 120y sedan RB20DET RB25DET Auto w/shift kit Garrett GT35R Ball Bearing turbo. Front a/r 0.7 - exhaust a/r 0.63 GTR Injectors Remapped ECU - Not done yet Z32 MAF High mount manifold 38mm Turbonetics wastegate 3.6 ratio diff 205/50/15 street slicks - 587mm OD If anyone has an opinion as to what stall they would run, any comments would be used to help in my decision. Cheers Steve
  12. Could I change from "Qik120why" to "RB120WHY" Cheers Steve
  13. Just a couple of interior shots.... Wife shots to follow.... Cheers Steve
  14. This is my mates car. It is powered by a RB25 NEO engine and at the moment runs 8psi. It ran 240 hp at the wheels on Matt Sprys dyno. Boost will soon be upped a small amount. Enjoy.
  15. As i have been receiving quite a few pm's from people interested or otherwise, I thought i had better clarify a few things. I am selling car due to a RB20 project. I dont want to spend anymore money on the coupe so i am selling as is. Car can be raced onto a tow truck or raced home with a trade plate. It was registered up until two weeks ago and was defected by DOT about six weeks ago and they inspected the whole car and found this - Std emission control system not in place - I have a catch can plumbed in Unleaded fuel restrictor not in place - We no longer have leaded fuel LG? brake test code not on modplate - Quoted $200 for approval I know it needs the following for RWC right ball joint - $20 rear leaf spring bushes - $40 strut bar bushes - $30 interior carpet right rear diff seal - $40 same size rims all round The bushes would be optional but recommended - A bit spongy It would be easy to get 4x std pursuit rims to get rid of front runners etc With the defect and rego coming at the same time i decided to push the RB20 project forward and start on it. I am open to serious offers on the coupe. Cheers Steve

  17. Hey guys Has anyone heard of a Mines or equivilent remapped RB20 computer? As i only require approx 280-300 hp i figured this route would be cheaper then aftermarket management. I wish there was two.....
  18. Hi guys... I still think that 12s are quick. I drive a car that is not supposed to be quick (Datsun 120y). I think people expect certain cars to be fast (skylines etc). Its very common to see street cars doing 12.8 - 13.9 times and most are done on street tyres as well. Back in 2001 my mazda 626 fwd was doing 13.5 @ 108. B) As technology betters so does our drag/lap times. I want 11s on street tyres so the RB20 in the garage is being forced into the engine bay now.
