Import Monster Sauvic Deca Motorkhana - 2011 Round 1
limpus replied to achoo's topic in Archived Events
If anyone missed out on todays DECA fun & or would like to do another one next sat the 26th March, PM me for more details. I know a group who is running an event still has a few spots left, with many of the course layouts being quite familiar to SAU DECA devotees. -
Adding E85 To Premium 98 As An Octane Booster
limpus replied to limpus's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks Ash. Well I was hoping to maybe try to run e85 with the current 650s but at the moment its not possible to get it tuned before Deca this weekend and a few other events i have have in the coming weeks... -
Adding E85 To Premium 98 As An Octane Booster
limpus replied to limpus's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well...the plan is to get larger injectors to make the full switch to E85...but like i said in the interim i would still like the small margin of safety the e10 100ron fuel gave me while i do the events over the next month... -
Adding E85 To Premium 98 As An Octane Booster
limpus replied to limpus's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Running a AP Engineering PFC...so i can back timing off if i need to...but i'll need to do it every time i start the car... But surely a few litres of E85 into a tank of Premium 98 wouldn't hurt right? -
So I pulled into my usual servo on the way to work to fill up on 100ron e10 fuel today and discovered that its been phased out across the state...i've been running it for over a year and the car has been tuned for it...with E85 popping up at Caltex servos all over the plan is to eventually make the switch over but I can't do that yet due to an inadequate fuel system...650cc injectors on a 3L 2JZ with a GT30... So now I'm thinking if it would be possible to add a couple of litres of E85 to a tank of 98 just to get it close to what I used to run and what the car has been tuned for...I've got a few events coming up in the next month and can't get the car tuned on e85 in time...and running normal 98 premium isn't really a good idea too...what do you guys think?

I've got a pair of Kumho KU36s for sale...size is 245/45/17...tyres are used but still have bout 60% thread left with a slight bit more wear on the inner edges...still perfectly legal and as most of you know...they are extremely grippy and a great street tyre... Asking for $120 for the pair firm...Pickup only from Melbourne SE Suburbs...PM if interested...

I know this is a thread about the JZ engines so i'll give my personal experiences...i know they are meant to be bulletproof but i must say that my supra has given me its fair share of engine related dramas over the past 2 years...everything from blown headgaskets to a spun bearing...luck of the draw i guess...apparently the previous owner didn't really take care of the engine...but my new wrecker engine has been behaving well so far... On a seperate note...and this is car related...stop calling the supra a boat...its not that bad...as N1GTR pointed out in that youtube clip...stock vs stock it got ahead of a r33gtr...so it can't be that bad...

For those interested...Transdirect was the better choice...E-go had slightly better freight prices but wanted $132 extra each way to have a tailgate truck pick the engine up and drop it off...whereas Transdirect only wanted $68 each way...difference in quotes ended up being over $100... And nah its not an engine swap...selling the old blown 2J out of my supra...lol at the pics...funny c#nts...

This might be pure hearsay but i remember reading somewhere that heat wrapping 6boost manifolds voids the warranty with them...is this correct...came to mind after reading BoostdR's comments...

Hey fellas, I need to send an engine interstate to a buyer and was wondering what are my options? I've got it on a pallet ready to go...can anyone point me in the right direction in terms of courier/freight companies to contact? Engine is a 2JZ...Cheers... G

Read up on all the info on E85 here...i won't go into the details...to run E85 you will need a fuel system capable of supporting it and a tune to match...E10 is just for detonation resistance...
-
Thats what they always say...so many of us have been using it for so long with no issues...people are even using E85 with no issues (but that one needs a proper retune with supporting mods)...nissan locally don't always give the right info anyway...
-
Used the mulgrave one on a few occasions and the bayswater one i used every week as i pass it on the way to work...
-
Been running that for about 4 months in my car now...was tuned on that and while there wasn't a noticeable power gain (couple of kw) there was a noticeable drop in knock readings on the PFC across the board...if anything the added detonation resistance is a plus...i don't even bother to run octane booster at events now...
-
Agreed...280 jigga watts is plenty...especially when coupled with an atmo bov...

Pros And Cons Of Wastegate Feed Positions
limpus replied to zebra's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks Trent...i guess it is a bandaid solution...i've yet to try it but if it allows me to stop the 2psi drop i'm getting then maybe it'll do for now... -
Pros And Cons Of Wastegate Feed Positions
limpus replied to zebra's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Had an in depth disucussion with one of my mechanics the other day on this as well...if you remember i've got a gt3076r on a 2jz and i'm not holding boost properly at top end...general consensus agrees with your theory to take the boost feed for the wastegate or ebc off the plenum post throttle body...that way your wastegate or ebc is controlling boost according to the actual pressure that your engine is getting as opposed to the pressure in the pipes before any pressure losses through the cooler etc... -
If you already have a full tune then a rutune on E85 wouldn't take too long...most tuners should be able to get in right in about 1-2 hours depending on how much time they spend on full and partial load maps and so on...of course this can change depending on what state the car is in and a whole load of other factors...so for your case...it depends on how much your tuner charges per hour...

I've got a Trust/Greddy Type R BOV for sale...been used for about 2 years and selling now to go for something slightly stealthier... This bov needs no introduction but for those that don't know this is Trust's big boy bov meant for high horsepower applications with big boost...its a push type bov with a large 2" opening to vent excess pressure quickly and is also adjustable via the screw on top to make sure that it doesn't leak under pressure but opens fully when the throtte is shut... Its in extremely good condition and just needs a clean as it was mounted behind the front bar...asking for $150.00 with free delivery anywhere in Australia...pick up also available in Melb SE Suburbs...will throw in the home made adaptor for free if you want it... PM if interested...
