How Do I Get This Specific Flutter?
Johnny Cash replied to 180bfj20det's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I KEEP TELLING EVERYONE! ITS THE HKS RACING TYPE II BOV! Around $450 delivered to Australia from greenline, perfectrun or nengun. And beware the imitation ones for sale on eBay. Get the genuine thing. And another thing, you have to run at least 1 bar of boost for it to blow off. Hope I helped. -
Need Opinios On A Front Bar
Johnny Cash replied to wraith_skyline's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Yeah, I think the 400R and Trust look is WAY overdone in this country! The front bars I found are at least something different. Personally, if I wanted a front bar, I would design something completely different to everyone else. Be a trend setter, pussy go getter!!! -

Man, if you got nothing nice to say, just shut the f*ck up! Here's a couple of nice front bars for 33 I found on yahoo auctions japan: http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n28018313 http://page13.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r21375004 Have a look! -
Yeah, I've seen that Mustang reproduction, and I don't fancy spending $200,000 on one. EVER! My project would probably cost upwards of around $60,000, INCLUDING the car. As for the XY GTHO Phase III, my older brother has idolized that car since he was young, so if I got one, it would be as though I'm driving his car. Same problem as the Viper, but different person. My car was always (and is still) the Lamborghini Countach. But I'm thinking something a bit more drivable!

Need Opinios On A Front Bar
Johnny Cash replied to wraith_skyline's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Which bar are you refering to? -
Yeah, I love the Viper, and was lucky enough to get a seat in one. However, they cost at LEAST $100,000, and I'm not going to have that sort of bank to sink, unfortunately. Even WITH being a lawyer! Plus, a mate of mine absolutely idolizes that car, so if I got one, it would be like I'm driving HIS car.

Need Opinios On A Front Bar
Johnny Cash replied to wraith_skyline's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Come on, man! That's the front bar EVERYONE gets for the 33. I liked it the first thousand times I saw it... Now I think it's the factory front bar for a 33 I've seen it so often. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the point of a custom front bar to be different to other cars like yours, to stand out? I recommend the Do-Luck front bar. I've tried to attach a picture of the Do-Luck front bar to this reply. Another good one is Version Select, a link for pic can be found here: http://www.raceonusa.com/index.asp?PageAct...ROD&ProdID=2553 Or, why not be COMPLETELY different, and get a custom made front bar? Then you are guaranteed no-one has the same one! I can design a few if you want. I'm not sure who does custom front bars in Sydney, but it shouldn't be much more than $400 in any event. That's my 2c worth anyway. -
Heya folks, Just been thinking about the future of car ownership, and that I want to buy something a few years that I will hang on to for a LONG time, if not forever. As much as I love skylines, and jap cars in general, they're not exactly the kind of car I imagine I'm ALWAYS going to want to have. They've been done to death, and no matter how modified your ride is, chances are there's some snotty-nosed 16 year old with the same car and another 20hp on top of yours! Hence, I've been thinking about the following: 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback. Eleanor-Style body kit (ala Gone in 60 Seconds), not sure which colour to paint. Full interior update to modern spec with reupholstery. Lexus 1UZ-FE engine conversion with worked motor. Brake conversion to allow more modern brake and wheel arrangements. Manual Gearbox (not sure which yet) mated up to the motor. Full custom intake and exhaust setup with twin throttle bodies and custom intake manifolds. And so on... I'm thinking a car like that would be something you'd want to hang onto for a long time, and despite the money invested, you could ask a considerable amount of it back. Basically, it would be worth the money spent, unlike the poor chaps who spend stacks on their Jap ride then have to sell it for peanuts. That, and I can turn up anywhere in the abovementioned mustang and have instant cred. Not always something that can be said for Jap cars, unfortunately. Anyway, let me know what you all think. If you hate the idea, or love it.

Should I Buy R32 Gts4?
Johnny Cash replied to KAWAII_hachi_roku's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Come on man, the ultimate car is a Lamborghini Countach. ...Doesn't matter if anyone else is faster. -
Because when your engine is running at idle, the turbo is not building any boost yet. That's why it goes below 0. Once it gets to 0, it means that all of your intercooler and inlet pipes are pressured and your turbo is ready to make boost. A good way to test this is to go out for a drive, and in 2nd gear, get the boost gauge to read around the 0 mark. Then flatten your foot and it should increase quickly. Then try it again at negative boost (e.g. less than 0) and it will take some time for the boost to wind up. Thats the difference. All those pipes that carry boost need to be pressurised before you can gain any power. Which is also why cars running 4" intercooler piping and giant turbos and intercooler get really bad lag. That 'lag' is all of those pipes filling up with pressure before power can be made. Hope I helped. Adrian.

Nah, its cool. I was a bit harsh. I should be more understanding of my fellow skyliners! If you need to know anything else, PM me.
-
OH! Now I get what you mean! Your question wasn't clear. You want the conversion rate from your boost gauge's readout to psi??? This website converts any pressure reading to various other units of pressure measurement. Go nuts! http://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/pressure Hope I could be of help. Sorry for my earlier criticism, but the way you phrased the question suggested you didn't know how to look at a gauge, not interpret what your looking at!

I actually wonder how something like an old sprinter would go with a 1UZ-FE under the hood. Probably front end heavy, but imagine the grunt!

Fool In R33 In Todays Herald Sun
Johnny Cash replied to Atreyu's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Wouldn't be the first time a police department pulled a stunt like this in order to validate a crackdown on 'hoons'. Think about it. They buy a Skyline, give it big wheels and fancy paint, take a few (bad) photos of it doing stupid things, and woila, they've got an excuse to pick on ALL of us. The car might have cost around $30,000 including paint and rims, and now they can jack up the price of fines they give us, which will probably bring in another few hundred thousand dollars a year. Not bad thinking, eh? -
You've GOT to be sh*tting us. You don't know how to read a boost gauge? Are you sure you're licenced by the State to operate a motor vehicle?
-
Mine had 140,000-odd km on it when I picked it up, and it still goes really strong! I think it's more the way they were driven than the odometer reading. And theres NO way to tell how they were driven. Aftermarket parts are normally a good start though

It's designed to compensate you for your injury, and part of that is loss of lifestyle, so to some extent, the money is to be directed for enjoying yourself. But more often that not, a majority of it goes towards the fact that you're no longer able to perform the work you were able to before the accident, and that the money you receive compensates for that difference. So if you blow it all on a fancy car, you're gonna find things a BIT hard to handle down the road, when you realize you can't get a job and won't get welfare because of your court settlement...
-
Yeah, I loved it. Old school skylines, cosworths, vl walkies, oz spec truenos, old school beemas... ah, the good ol' days.
-
Well, I read an article a while back where a guy with a GT4 Celica put the Lexus V8 motor (LS400/SC400) into it, and it actually ended up being lighter than the 3S-GTE! Might be an interesting hybrid idea for a skyline. Imagine hearing a skyline go past with that V8 rumble, you'd confuse everyone!
-
The clients I've had who've had lump sum compensation for injuries sustained at work / personal injury claims don't get much satisfaction from the payout. That said, I would always advise against blowing the lot on modifying a car, as that money is awarded to them for various valid reasons. It's not a jackpot, and no-one of sound mind or body would endure what these people have endured for the sake of the compensation. So why treat it like a lottery win?

I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
Johnny Cash replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
D'oh! Now I'm really keen to get my boost controller fitted!!! I wish I knew what I was doing under the bonnet. I can buy all the best parts, but that's about it... I'm a lawyer, not a mechanic! -
I've made the same suggestion to colleagues at work. Unfortunately, parliament has made it a lump sum payment, and that will be the case until it's changed. Perhaps the courts could establish a trust fund under which the company/person liable to pay pays that money to the court, then the court pays the beneficiary the set amount. Sounds like an idea!
