R34 Stock Intercooler On R32
Johnny Cash replied to Johnny Cash's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah, I can get all sorts of Jap parts dirt cheap. When I read about how much people pay for parts, I laugh and cringe at the same time! Hey, drift limo, what did you mean by this: "All you need is to find a cheap metal fab place and get them to chop the inlet off and weld it on the other side..." Do you mean i have to make a new ic pipe for the inlet side, as thats what I'm looking to have done. Don't want to cut into the endtanks or anything! -

Nice, I LOVE apexi intercoolers. You got it really cheap too. I got the R34 Intercooler with the airduct and all the bits and pieces for $70 though, so I can't afford to complain. ...but it's no Apexi =( -
R34 Stock Intercooler On R32
Johnny Cash replied to Johnny Cash's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
"Sounds like someone is a tight ass!", how right you are! But for good reason, I think. If I start going nuts (e.g. FMIC, RB25 turbo with rebuild, fuel pump and pressure regulator, PFC with controller, fancy bride seats and GTR nose), it's all gonna cost WAAAAY too much, and I'll be just like every other sucker trying to sell a GTS-T they spent $20,000 on for $12,000. I'd rather just do R34 ic upgrade, full turbo back exhaust, and cruise it around like that. Then get something like an Evo VI or FD RX-7 a few years down the track with the money I didn't spend on my GTS-T. Just a thought... -
R34 Stock Intercooler On R32

Also have to think of the fact that with a Nissan intercooler, you know what you're getting. But with the aftermarket jobs you're seeing on eBay and on the forums, who knows how they're made or what they're made of? Don't get me wrong, I'd love a nice FMIC, but if I did get one, it would have to be a Trust or Blitz setup. And I don't fancy spending the odd $1300+ postage for those, and in any event, dont need something that can handle so much power. All I'm looking to do after the intercooler is split dump and front pipe, then up the boost to 12psi. That's as quick as she's gonna get while I own it. Thanks anyway tho, Adrian. -
R34 Stock Intercooler On R32

Mate, if thats how you like to play, go nuts. But half the things you just said scared me, and the other half made me wonder what your understanding of car modifications is like - no offence... I mean, "it's an upgrade of a part that was supplied by the factory so it's NOT defectable". Isn't a HKS SSQV an upgrade of stock BOV, and isn't a carbon bonnet and upgrade of a stock bonnet? Come on man... -
R34 Stock Intercooler On R32
Johnny Cash replied to Johnny Cash's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
A few reasons why I would bother: Less lag from using a SMIC. Less attraction to car by police and thieves. Nothing in front of my radiator. No cutting of the front bumper required. NO cutting of engine bay or fan blade required. Factory Nissan item so it's not defectable. I only wanna run 12psi on stock RB20 Turbo so I don't need any bigger! -
R34 Stock Intercooler On R32
Johnny Cash replied to Johnny Cash's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hmm, now it seems like too much effort, might be easier to get a normal intercooler and get custom pipes made up! I don't like the idea of having the modify an end tank. So much for THAT idea! -
Interested in Apexi AFC, seeing as its going to the tip if it doesnt sell! How much with delivery to Mildura Vic 3500? (Best price, no haggling sort of thing). Also, is EVERYTHING with it for connection to R32, or do I need to buy other bits? And how do I go about putting it to work? Can PM me or e-mail at [email protected] Thanks a bunch, Adrian.

I found a good cheap boost controller for $22!!!
Johnny Cash replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey Mark, Still haven't got the boost controller. I'll let you know as soon as it turns up, or in a weeks time if it STILL hasn't turned up. Thanks, Adrian. -
Again, title is self explanatory. Just hooked up a 34 intercooler for my 32, and I'm wondering how hard it is to fit, and how much power increase I can expect. Can't imagine it cools a lot more than stock 32 ic, but should be better flow and able to handle 12psi without any trouble? Your thoughts...

Hks Super Sequential Blow Off Valve
Johnny Cash replied to FORZA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
1- They blow off at around 0psi, because that means you got the pipes full up and ready to rock. 2- They're fine to use on any turbo car really, RB20DET included. Just adjust the BOV so that it's blowing off. 3- People use them regularly on more cars than just about any other BOV on the market. -
No argument - HKS Racing Type II Blow Off Valve. THE sexiest bov on the market, and able to be plumbed back into the intake to get the cops off your back! Just make sure you're running at least 14psi to activate it!
-
Thats the great thing about HKS super sequential. As most everyone else would know (no offence ), the super sequential essentially blows off twice. This means it blows off under VERY little boost, which makes it a great bov for people running like or lots of boost. It's adjustable too, so as you wind up the boost on your ride, you can tighten it up. There's a website with more sounds of the super sequential. I can find it for ya if you want, just PM me. Hope it helps.
-
Yeah, sounds like HKS super sequential. Not many other valves on the market sound like that. Greddy Type S is similar (my favorite). HKS Racing Type 2 valve sounds like that also.

Finished My Engine Bay At Last......
Johnny Cash replied to campbell's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Fair enough. As long as you love it, that's all that matters. I'm envious of someone who loves their car that much. I can't settle on which car to have - I want em all! -

Intercooler With Inlet And Outlet On Same Side
Johnny Cash replied to Johnny Cash's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks mate, will do. Lovin that cooler, says its for R31 RB20DET? Should that make a difference? Either way, if I can get it to my door for around 300, it would definitely be worth it. Even tho I'm broke -
Intercooler With Inlet And Outlet On Same Side
Johnny Cash replied to Johnny Cash's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah, I think you're right SKY34, will have to go a conventional intercooler. But I'm just wondering if the extra cooling you get from running a 'normal' ic is combatted by the ic pipe that has to run all the way over and around the engine to go to the intake manifold... Just a thought. hey Michael, can you send me the link for that? How much, and who do I pay?
