R33 Gtr Side Diffusers - Where To Get?
Victory replied to Spunky Munky's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Hasemi motor sport make some for a r33 gtr. http://www.hasemi-ms.com/products/r33/index.php -
Where are these threads now as they are the exact sort if things that are motorsport orientated that we could all benefit from.
-
I am also for the idea of true motorsport builds being seperate to the normal build threads. To make it simple do you have a criteria that the car has to have a cage in it to qualify for inclusion?

Clinton and I will be there.

I managed to get one of the China copy Z32's for a good price the only problem was that we could not tune the car and had to buy one from a known retailer (Just Jap) and no more problems. The cheap one can be cheap for a reason - they do not work, but other people have been lucky and got good ones.
-
Why would'nt you just put the pod in an enclosure - keeps the sound and gets the cops off your back. They come in carbon fibre http://justjap.com/s...&cat=272&page=3 Or you can have them in a colour to suite your car http://justjap.com/s...&cat=272&page=3 http://justjap.com/s...&cat=272&page=3 http://justjap.com/s...&cat=272&page=3

Didn't Richard also have the ability to be the one inside the barriers at the Nismo Festival in Japan taking pictures and talking to people when mere mortals could not get within 100 metres of the place.

I have a R33 GTR and my son has a R32 so I have first hand experience in removing oil filters from GTR's and I also understand the reduced space in a R32. I use a filter removal tool similar to the one in the ebay link but on mine the 3 fingers are about 5 cm long and it has a 3/8 drive for a rachet. This can get into this confined space easily and generate strong clamping force to remove the filter. By comparison I love changing the filters on our GTS-T's because there is just sooo much room to work in. Welcome to the GTR owners club and there will be other jobs that you come across that on other cars are easy but they are just plain difficult on a GTR.

Diy: Replacing Pads And Rotors On D2/g4/attkd Etc 8 Piston Brakes
Victory replied to Duncan's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
Good write up Duncan. I have first hand experience with not tightening up caliper bolts to the correct torque. We recently installed a complete GTR cradle in our GTS-T and only tightened up the caliper bolts without using the torque wrench. On a test run around the block the car developed an unusual noise in the rear end that we traced to the caliper bolts working themselves loose and allowing the calipers to move with application of the brakes. -
Clinton and I will be there to catch up with everyone.

Question On Durability Of Rota Wheels
Victory replied to B-rice's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
At any time I would have 10 to 15 sets of rims in my shed (mainly Enkei, Nismo, SSR, Buddyclub, AME and the odd set of Starcorps) and I have only ever had one set of rota rims. I have only had one set because one of them cracked on the lip was repaired and cracked again. So it all comes down to "you get what you pay for" and provided you only drive your Rota rims on the street on a low powered car they will be fine. -
I have a power steering pump from a R34 RB25de neo that you can have for $50. I am located in Wollongong - give me a PM if you are interested.

Hi Fatz I just realised that the Nationals in Goulburn are only two weeks away and my car is nothing like ready (new GTR cradle nearly built and ready to be installed, coilovers to be assembled and installed and new brakes to go on) so I will have to do a raincheck on the R33 steering rack. If you still have it after the Nationals then I will arrange to come and pick it up.
-
I really cannot remember the exact cost but I think it was about $30 per lock.
-
In a word YES - if you take them the barrel they should be able to change the combination for you.
-
What I have done in the past when confronted by this situation is to remove the barrels from the door locks (easy operation on a R33 simply undo the retaining bolt and remove) and take them to a locksmith and have the combination changed to match the ignition key. This is far easier than trying to change an ignition barrel as that is far more difficult to achieve.

These are a common problem with R32 GTR's due to the technology that was used when they were designed. Nissan are always happy to sell you a new one for about $2,400 or you may be lucky and find a good second hand one. There are also some threads on SAU regarding repairing your existing unit if you are a techo as well as some new replacement units that are currently being developed. Welcome to R32 GTR land and good luck.

I have some Starcorp Agle Shadow Chrome in 18 x 8.5 and 18 x 9.5 that you can have for $300. As the pictures show they have some gutter rash and crazing in the clear coat but they are a good cheap set of staggered 18's. They come with spacers and special nuts that give you a front offset of 26 and a rear offset of 33 which really fill the guards on a R33. This is how they looked on my R33. The tyres are near the wear indicators so they will need replacing. I live in Wollongong but I can meet you in Sydney to make pick up easier. Please give me a PM if you are interested.

You guys have me starting to worry about fuel economy because at best I get around 15l / 100km and it is not difficult for it to drop to around 21 or 22 when you really start to push it. I still have the original o2 sensors in the car so it looks like they probably need replacing.

Weird Grinding/rattling Sound At Low Rpm
Victory replied to EarthShore's topic in General Maintenance
The big question is why are you down so low in the rev range in a high gear and putting the engine under load? My R33's all do this when you are simply under 2,000 and in a high gear and try to accelerate - simple solution - watch your revs and change down so that you can have your turbo spool freely. -
What Makes The R33 "ugly" ?
Victory replied to tripsteady's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The fact that I have 5 silver R33's in my driveway may make some people think that I am biased towards R33's. Like UWSISH! I fell in love with my GTR the first time that I drove it and after 7 years that feeling is the same every time I fire it up to go for a run, The ugly duckling of the R33 family is a Series 1 GTS_T with a stock front bar and the little rear spoiler. Both of these parts make the car look rounder and bulkier than it really is. My Series 1.5 came with a 400R front bar and we did a full Series II front conversion with new bonnet, headlights and front bar and at the back we went for a factory GTR rear wing (not to mention a full Series II interior). The R33 Series II is the evolution of the model run and looks the best by far. When you look at a R34 some of the bonnet lines and headlight shape has its origins in a Series II R33. I love my R33's and I am not biased one little bit.
