  1. I support the comments made by Gary on car preparation. I run six point harnesses (without the crutch strap) in my GTR and GTS-T with GTR seats in each of them on the street. There are no problems with the belts feeding through the hole in the seat back if they are adjusted correctly. This provides greater car feel as you do not move around in the seat and you have a greater perception of what the car is doing in corners. For a track day it is a simple task to remove the factory seats and install your aftermarket race seat - just four bolts. I use an OMP WRC seat for track days as it provides exceptional fit and support (picture attached). The race seat is very comfortable to use but hard to get into and out off to the point that it is too much hassle to leave in all of the time. The race seats are quite wide and that would be the reason for the comment regarding the side intrusion bars - in my cars the seat has about 1cm clearance at the shoulder to the door trim so the bar would have to be mounted lower where the seat is narrower. Gary is also correct in track day preparation as with a Skyline it is a simple task to: - Install race seat and crutch straps - Change brake pads (when wheels are being swapped over) - Install semi slicks - Change sway bar settings - Bleed brakes With a bit of practice this can be done quite easily in a short time.
  2. Pictures of the bulbs would assist your sale so we can compare them to the others on the market.
  3. This is an emotional question - it is not about what the car's market value is but what it is worth to you - what would it take for you to part with it. My Skylines are worth much more to me than just their sale price - they provide an interest and an outlet for my motoring passion. My son always stirs me because I treat them like babies and spend too much money on them. My GTR is in showroom condition with a total of three stone chips on the whole car. My GTS-T has been my daily driver until a few months ago when I retired. I am now embarking on a full bare metal respray including the replacement of the passengers rear quarter due to some minor rust from an earlier repair in the old country. I nearly have a complete car in parts and will have a complete (new from Nissan) concourse front bar and bonnet and a second front bar and bonnet for track days and the like due to likehood of getting some stone chips on the track. Now is that starting to look like a passion or what? How can you put a price on that? The fact that I also have four other cars in the driveway for my family to use as daily drivers further supports this concept.
  4. Location? What model Teins are they? What are the spring rates?
  5. This is a simple job on a R32GTR. There are two straps that run under the fuel tank that are attached to the car just behind the rear bar. First loosen the bolts that attach the two straps to the point where the tension is removed from the straps. Next each strap has a pin that attaches the bracket to the strap - with the tension removed slide eack pin out to disconnect the strap from the bracket. Tank is now ready for removal once you disconnect the fuel lines.
  6. You can pick them up new from Performance-wise.com in NSW for $750 plus $50 delivery. I got mine from him when the exchange rate was better than now for less than $700 delivered. The components are interchangable with standard clusters so I put my GTR tacho into the Nismo cluster for my GTR and the GTR cluster with the Nismo tacho into my GTS-T. I prefer the GTR tacho with the GTR badge so I had to sway the parts around - the only problem is that I cannot get the GTS-T anywhere near the 9,000 RPM redline. Check out his website as he has a long association with SAU.
  7. Jess Apart from being a well known driver Keven Barlet is remembered for rolling the Channel 9 Comaro at the top of the mountain at Bathurst one year on the very first lap. At the time there was a bit of a joke going around about the fact that channel 9 would do just about anything to dominate the channel 7 coverage of the great race, especially all of the highlights of that year's race.
  8. 34GTR rims came out in the standard gunmetal colour and a light silver colour. The silver ones are very hard to come by as they were on one of the limited model runs (probably a LM Edition or something similar), however the centre caps are still available new from Nissan. What I have seen done is to buy a set of silver centre caps and then have a standard set of GTR rims cleaned up (all gutter rash removed etc) and then painted silver to match the centre caps. End result is a good looking set of rims that you know are strong.
  9. Congratulations Stu on your new arrival. I was going to give you a call today to see how you were going as she was due this week - you got the timing down perfect this time.
  10. Silver GTC's look very nice on 33GTR's and if you go for 10 inches wide and a 20 offset you will not have any rubber clearance problems provided you run either a 265 or 275. Rim size is another question, 18's look good and tyres like Toyo T1R's are just under $400 each. When you go to 19's or 20's tyres prices start to rise sharpely for quality tyres. The question is then is the car for show (go 19 or 20) or for go then stick with 18's. In my case I run 18's and put the extra $ into better quality tyres.
  11. Jess - you never cease to impress - always taking on a new challenge. Looks like its lots of fun.
  12. Ando - I would say that the passenger's side of the wing is working correctly and that the camers is desturbing the flow of air on the driver's so it is not generating near as much down force.
  13. It is amazing what a ride in a Mazda can do to you - just look at the attached pictures of Chris (evil_weevil). The first shot is leaving the pits and Chris is looking very relaxed. The next shot has Clinton looking for his breaking point at the side of the track and Chris has a concerned look on his face - you going to think about breaking soon or what????
  14. Come on guys we need three more people for the group buy to proceed. I really need at set of these extractors to get my car on the road.
  15. My offer of $200 still stands if you want a sale.
  16. Welcome to the world of Skylines. Most of what you have said is normal for a R33. Mine does take a while to warm up (would be even longer on a cold Victorian night) but when it is up to tempreture it stays just below half. Oil pressure is dependant on the oil you are using (type and viscosity) and the temperature of the engine. I only use Motul Chrono and it takes quite a while for it to warm up and during this time even at idle it will be around 5 and even higher if you rev it. Once it is warm it should idle around 1 - 2 and sit around 4 when it is above idle.
  17. Would this fit on a R32? We are building a R32 with a R33 RB25de and are looking for a system like this. Whould it just mean taking a few inches out of the front section to fit the shorter R32 floor pan?
  18. What type of wheel does it fit? Does it have two sets of holes to fit both of the common patterns or if there is only one set what wheel type has been fitted to it?
  19. Behold our prayers have just been answered - OND HD is to be released on 02/07/2009 in regional NSW, VIC, QLD and Tasmania. Bring it on.........
  20. Do you have any pictures of the white 626 Mazda and the silver R33 Series 2 CJ---- ? When will all of the thumbs be available on your site so that we can decide if we want to purchase some of your prints?
  21. I very much agree with Ando that aero at the back of the car has a lot to do with high speed stability. Just look at a standard R32 GTR rear wing - Nissan has spent some time and money on designing something that is more than just for looks. The approach Ando has taken with the engineering of the boot supports so the downforce is carried through to the chassis has paid off when you watch how stable his car is through turn 1 at OP. Brad has a similar wing on the rear of his car and again it looked more stable. I would suggest that it was going quicker than you think before you hit the brakes approaching turn 1. With the same tyre size, diff ratio and a 1 to 1 ratio in fourth gear my GTR does just under 30 km per 1,000 revs. So if you were turning nearly 7k in fourth before you changed into fifth you would be doing around 200km at that time before accelerating in fifth. We should try mounting my GPS in the car to see just how quick it really is. Maybe you should look at the aero effort that Sports Sedans use to keep both ends of the car on the ground. Front splitters with undertrays and very serious rear wings generate considerable downforce at the speeds that your car is capable of. Bring on the development phase........
  22. This thread should be BANNED!!!!!!!!!! All of us poor souls out in the regions are missing out on SO much not being able to get ONE HD - it simply is not fair............
  23. Lucky bastards!!! Southern Cross Ten will be broadcasting OneHD in my area "IN COMING MONTHS" when I want access to it NOW...........
  24. When you consider that this was the first time that the car has been run anywhere in anger apart from on the dyno it was a very successful day. It ran strong all day and all of the key systems performed perfectly (the only exception was a minor oil leak from the gearbox that was easily fixed when it happened). Now that it has passed this initial test with flying colours the next step is to make the car more driveable. Improving the aero with a front splitter and air ducting and a rear wing will improve stability as will some minor suspension tuning. The inclusion of a passengers seat so that Stuart can take an experienced passenger to provide track knowledge and input into setup changes will also help in the development phase. I could not believe the amount of interest the car created every time it was on the track - as soom as people heard it on full noise they became interested in it because it just sounded that good. The most amazing thing is that out of the box it is VERY good with development it will only improve - well done Stuart.
