R33 Parts For Sale Must Sell
Victory replied to gtstcruiser67's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
What size are the Drist R's 18 x 8 or 18 x 9? -
Once you have experienced a good GTR then nothing else comes close. And that is where the problem lies in that to get a good one you have to pay for it which in my case cost me nearly $40k for a R33 GTR V-Spec. There are a lot of cheap GTR's going round and they are cheap for one reason only and that is that they have had a hard life and things are starting to go wrong. Either pay more for a good one to start with or buy one with a straight body and expect to spend money on the mechanicals.

R33 Hks 3" Cat Back Ss $550
Victory replied to kyle785's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hi I have been looking for a quiet 3" SS system for my GTS-T for some time now and I currently run a Priest 3.5" on my GTR. I will give you a call on your mobile tomorrow to discuss doing a run up to Gosford to check it out. -
Quickest Gtst Skyline In Australia
Victory replied to jas/slo32's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Congrats! That is a seriously good time. -
We need to be realistic when we think about how much these GTS or GTT badges should cost. Just Jap have genuine Nissan GTR badges for $95 and they are a mass produced product. We would be looking at a limited production run of say 50 to 100 units which would mean that a price in the $100 to $150 would be required to just cover the costs involved. This is if you want a product that is of the same quality as the factory unit and not a cheap dodgy brothers job. If I am going to put a GTS badge on my car it would have to be of the same standard as my GTR badge.

I have always changed the oil and oil filter at the recommended intervals and use the best oil that I can afford. I see this as good insurance and over the years it has paid off as every engine that I have pulled down has had minimal wear compared to what would be expected for the age. I am currently using Motul Chrono 300v in my Skylines and after 5K it comes out cleaner and in better condition than most oils are when they go in.

Your First Drive In Your New Car
Victory replied to stink's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
It is good to see that you got her home safely after that 1200 km drive. It sounds like it was worth the wait and you got a good one. They really are a nice car to drive. The amazing thing is that I have had mine now for nearly a year and I get the same enjoyment every time that I drive them. Welcome to the Skyline fraternity! -
If anyone can organise a GTS badge that looks like this one then count me in.

Quote {I'm up for new rears shortly on my R33 GTS-T got 18x9.5 rims on the rear, currently with some thin-wearing Hankook Ventus 104's on it. I'll need new rears in the next 2000km i figure, so i had a chat to the local recommended tyre place here in Canberra he basically gave me 3 options - these are all 255/35/R18's btw) Hankook Ventus 104's at ~285 ea Falken 452's at ~320 ea Toyo T1R's at $370 ea } I run the Toyo T1R's on my GTR and I have been very impressed with them. Good grip in the wet and the dry and not too much tyre noice considering that they oare an open tread pattern. If your rims are 9.5 wide why would you run tyres that small (255/35ZR18) ? I run 265/35ZR18 on 18x8 and you should be able to run 275/30ZR18 on 18x9.5 rims.

Incorrect Speedo Speed. Need Advice On Calibration!
Victory replied to advan's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I have a "Road Angle" which is a form of GPS unit that stores the location of all fixed speed cameras, red light cameras etc etc and it also provides accurate speed readouts. I would suggest that the accuracy of your speedo all comes down to your tyre size. I run a R33 GTR V-Spec and a R33 GTS-T Series II and the speedo readings are the same in each car for the same tyre size. Exact Speedo reading = overall diameter of 651 mm Typical Sizes : 275/30ZR19 275/35ZR18 245/40ZR18 245/45ZR17 5% over registration = speedo 105 and actual 100 = overall diameter 643 Typical Sizes : 265/30ZR19 265/35ZR18 235/40ZR18 235/45ZR17 11% over registration = speedo 111 and actual 100 = overall diameter 633 Typical Sizes : 225/50ZR16 -
Your First Drive In Your New Car
Victory replied to stink's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I spent about a year looking at R33 Series I’s and then I moved to Series II’s. I was having great trouble finding a straight close to stock example. I then moved on to R34 GTT’s and after a few months I found a red one with the Nismo body kit that was in pristine condition. The day that I was going to buy the R34 I heard about a R33 GTR V-Spec that Unique Autosports had and I thought that I had better have a look at it before I handed over my hard earned money. The owner of the GTR pulled up outside the shop and as soon as I heard the rumble of the RB26 and I saw the car I fell in love with it. My son said later that my eyes just glazed over and I lost all sense of reason – I just had to have that car. We took it for a test drive and I could not believe that a street car could generate that much grip, not to mention the performance and braking. I then had a new problem – I had a beautiful R33 GTR V-Spec that was simply tooooooo good to run as a daily driver. Solution - buy a matching R33 GTS-T Series II to run as my daily driver and Joel for Aussie Car Compliance came to my rescue with a very straight example. I then had a pair of silver R33’s that are my babies and now I enjoy driving to work every single day. The excitement from driving a Skyline does not go away even for an old guy like me. At the start you do not have the confidence to use the full ability of the car, but after a while you become accustomed to the performance and handling and you progressively develop to the point where you can really use the car’s potential. The only problem then is that you give a friend a lift if they are not used to performance cars you manage to scare the crap out of them by just driving normally. If the road is windy and a bit wet they loose confidence in the lap sash seat belt very quickly and for some reason feel the need to stop and put the six point harness on. -
It simply means that you can only run low beam in any built up area otherwise to cops will fine you $75. Out in the country you can run anything that you like except when there is oncomming traffic when again you have to go back to low beam. A few of my mates have been stung for $75 for running foggies around town and it is just not worth it.

I was just very lucky that my car good factory settings of Front Camber was -1.20 left and -1.15 right Front Caster was 6.35 left and 6.25 right Rear camber before -0.22 left and -1.38 right Rear camber after -0.20 left and -0.59 right My problems were in the toe -0.5 left and +0.2 right and rear toe of +0.1 left and -0.8 right The other important factor to consider is ride height - mine is 365mm front and 355mm rear which is not much lower than the standard 380mm. Skylines do not like being too low as it changes the geometry a lot. -

Kennedy This was one of my original posts that identified SydneyKids recommendations and what I was able to achieve with my specific car. I also made the comment that every car is a little bit different and when you have had a wheel alignment done you will find out how close your car is to the suggested settings. Once you know what your car’s settings are then you can decide if you need to buy the caster and camber adjustment kits to get your car closer to the recommended settings -
Victory will do me just fine, however my daughter shortens it to Vicky which is a real girls name just to stir me.

My R33 GTR V-Spec is called “Victory” due to the fact that she is a Victory Spec GTR. Victory has to be a girl because whenever I have the shits with something if I take her for a quick run then I feel heaps better, she costs me a fortune and my wife is jealous of her as I spend so much time with her to the point that Victory is referred to as the other woman.

Sydneykid Your A Legend
Victory replied to Victory's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sydneykid's Recomendations are: Front Camber -1.00 Front Caster 7.00 SAI 9.00 Front Toe 0.00 Rear Camber -0.5 Rear Toe 2.00 mm in on each side I was able to achieve with my stock suspension: Front Camber -1.20 Front Caster 6.35 SAI 9.10 Front Toe 0.00 Rear Camber -0.20 Rear Toe 1.50 mm in on each side These results are close to the recomendations and will require the adjustable bushes to get that last little bit. My ride heights are also close to the suggested levels of about 25mm lower than stock front ride height of 380mm with 365mm front and 355mm rear. -
On Friday I had a wheel alignment done on my R33 GTS-T Series II and I attempted to get it as close as possible to Sydneykid’s recommended settings. I cannot believe how these changes could change the behaviour of my car so much. It went form a Tokyo Drift special (sideways more of the time than not) to something that is heaps faster because it just puts the power down and does not go into power oversteer all of the time. In the wet in a straight line it again just puts the power down with no wheel spin where before if would break traction at 2600 rpm in first, second and third and this is with 18 x 8’s all around. This has changed what was a drift pig in the wet to something that you can drive heaps faster and be in total control. The funny part of this is that I was just having a wheel alignment done to see how bad the current settings were as I was going to buy one of Sydneykid’s suspension Group Buys. If it is this good with the stock suspension adjusted as close to his settings as we could get – how good will it be with the Bilsteins, adjustable roll bars and adjustable bushes – I cannot wait. Sydneykid you are a legend!!!

Head Lights. Does Your Car Do This?
Victory replied to jrocket's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The issue is that the other cars run H4 bulbs for low beam. These are a twin filament bulb that works for both low and high beam. R33 Skylines run H1 bulbs in both low and high beam and these are single filament bulbs. This is the first car that I have had with H1 for low and high beams and I am not used to lack of light. I have two Mazda 626’s and I run 130W / 100W H4 for low beam and 100W high beams which makes very good light. I have been told that Skylines cannot cope with 100W H1 bulbs as they melt the reflectors - is this correct? I have run 100W or greater in every car that I have had for the last 30 years and I have never damaged a reflector. -
DOU33 I am lucky that Johnny Howard is helping to pay for them as I run them as company cars.
