  1. I run Shockproof Heavy in my diffs and Shockproof Light in my gearboxes. I would suggest that Shockproof Heavy would be too thick for a R33 gearbox.
  2. That is a seriously great lap time James the SAU community is proud of you. From watching the video it was not one of your cleanest laps and when you consider that if you could of picked a couple of the apexes a little bit better, kept her straighter in a few spots and had some new pads a 1:04 is well within your reach. Your development of the car and your driving skills has to be commended. Well done James.
  3. You may be interested in this. You have PM with the details.
  4. If you use the option to show in AUD it converts to $1,103.88 each plus delivery. Compared to the price that Nissan Australia wanted for the same part that is cheap. Tell you what - I have multiple sets of front disks for R33 Brembo callipers in my parts shed (spares for my GTR and my track car). Some are new RDA slotted rotors and some are factory Brembo rotors. The Brembo ones have been machined and are in good condition. I would be prepared to let them go for $1,000 for a pair and I will cop the loss.
  5. I have three sets of Kumho V70A's and I have been very impressed with them after coming from Yokohama 048's. The Kumho's have a reputation for failures on the front if you run them too soft or with too much camber. I had to go up about 6 pounds from the 048 hot pressures and I only run 2 degrees negative camber in the front. It could be the fact that they have square shoulders and like to sit flat on the road but they seem to react badly to camber. The 048's have very rounded shoulders by comparison and cope with a lot more camber without any problems. The Kumho's also like higher pressures that seem more like street radial pressures than semi slick pressures. I am happy with the performance of my Kumho semi's but you have to adjust your pressures and suspension to make them work. They are not as forgiving as other tyres on the market.
  6. You can always buy them from Nissan Australia for $3,200 each. All of the other Nissan rotors are cheap as but as soon as you say GTR and Brembo they hit you big time.
  7. Next time it rains give me a yell as I have a new set of Michelin wets mounted on rims that would go great on Cheryl (I bought them after a wet tack day and they have never been used as we have not had a wet track day since). With these little puppies on Fatz would be 10 seconds behind Cheryl.
  8. That is about where you fill a RB for track work which should be just under a litre over full. Do you have a dent in the sump to reduce the capacity because 4 litres is not a lot for a RB?
  9. Please add Clinton and me to the list. I would like some advice regarding some Power FC common problems. My R33 GTR VSPEC sometimes has the ALSD issue and I would like some advice on possible causes and solutions.
  10. I had exactly the same gasket fail at the SAU track day at Eastern Creek Southern Circuit last year. The more people I speak to with modified R33's the more I am finding that this is a very common problem. When you consider that we a running a lot more boost than these gaskets are designed to cope with it should be expected, especially when you take into account the age of our engines. Once the gasket has been replaced and provided that the mating surfaces are flat they can sustain a reasonable amount of boost with a car in my local area running 22 lbs. with no problems. Good luck with the Time Attack series.
  11. Yeah I first saw them on Brock's R33 GTS-T at Huntly and started asking a few questions about them. Brock is a mechanic and has a workshop in Helensburgh and has used his race car for the development of this kit. I subsequently visited Colin's workshop at Helensburgh and was very impressed by the quality of his machining equipment and his commitment to detail. (Colin is one of the Skyline family as he races a R32 GTR) The other benefit of this kit is that you are not changing callipers / pistons so the brake balance remains the same and you do not have to play with master cylinders and bias. I have taken the much more costly approach in going for a full R33 GTR Brembo setup - front and rear callipers, disks and hoses plus a R32 GTR 3 port master cylinder and R33 GTR booster as I do not run ABS.
  12. What is Golf?? Apart from those little European cars that I see in my mirrors.
  13. Colin's dog bones are well made and allow you to run the larger standard R33 GTR rotors with your GTS-T calipers. This way you can use off the shelf rotors instead of having to buy some special rotors at a higher cost. If you want to go real fancy you could use the two piece GTR rotors from Just Jap as they look quite good at a reasonable price.
  14. I had the same problem as all of my Skylines run open end nuts and it is a pain when the studs start to rust up. I have been using Penrite Copper Eze now for years with no problems at all - and yes like others have said I always have a rage handy after a wheel change because some of this stuff will be on something and need wiping off.
  15. Looks like I am now going to have to start spending some serious money on my car just to keep up with Cheryl. A R33 with 250 kw is a nice car to drive - enough power to make it go and not too much power so that you do not start breaking things. Well done mate!
  16. Thanks to Theo, Terry and the execs for another informative tech day.
  17. I have had a few R33 tachos play up over the years. It would appear that they suffer from the cracked solder joint issue that causes the tacho to either simply stop working or work intermittently and provide weird readings. The last one I had it was a simple task to just remove the cluster from the car and swap the tacho with one that I knew worked from another cluster.
  18. Terry if you are picking up people you can always rock up past our place and pick us up as well - it is not that far out of your way.
  19. Welcome back Richard we knew that you could not leave us for too long. Free bump
  20. I stand corrected - I did not realise that N/A autos run different gear boxes to turbo autos and hence the different diff ratio.
  21. N/A R33 manual and auto came with a 4.3 diff
  22. It is good having an old Hilux with manual hubs - no drivetrain problems for me.
  23. That is a great old 4WD trick - to put it in Low Range whenever you are going to back a trailer up - no clutch slipping is required and you can easily move a loaded trailer into a trickey spot or up a steep driveway.
  24. R33 Series II Sedans have turning lights between the main headlights and the parking lights. These are pretty cool and come on when you have the headlights on and turn on the indicators - only the light on the same side as the flashing indicator comes on. I have never seen a Series II coupe with sedan headlights because the radiator support panel is different between sedans and coups in Series II. Coups have two H1 lights and sedans have one H4 and the back of the headlights are totally different and not interchangeable. This would imply that the car has had frontal damage at some time in the past and they have repaired it with sedan parts. I would not worry about trying to make this light work because it is not required for rego and your coupe does not have the supporting wiring harness.
  25. It looks like a nice club level hill climb that I am sure could attract more entries if it was publicised more among CAMS affiliated clubs. I like the simple class regs as my car would fit nicely in Type 3 without having to compete in Type 4 as some clubs require. When my car is running again I would not mind giving it a go later in the year.
