This must be a stupid question, but I just spent 30 minutes scouring government info pages regarding importing a car and all I can see is information about importing vehicles made manufactured before 1989 or as a migrant or returning Australian expatriate... I've been browsing through stock R32 GTRs on a Japanese website and I'm seeing some acceptable ones between 600,000 and 800,000 yen, (manufactured after 1989) and I'm just wondering about the added costs of importing and complying would be, so I can get an idea of the total price of the car. Also, a basic idea of the process of getting the car here and getting it complied. Do I just contact a RAWS service and have them contact the seller in Japan? Any info would be much appreciated.

I know it sounds a bit crazy, but I think it'd be easier if prospective buyers only had to read the seller's original post. Rather than having to read the original post then scour the rest of the thread to see which items have been sold or had their prices changed. I'm no pro but I would wait until the engine needs a rebuild. No point rebuilding it with all factory components if you're going to do some serious mods to the engine. If you have those mechanics at your disposal, I'd just mod it and drive it until something breaks, then rebuild it with stronger internals and all the things you'll need for it to cope with the power you want to put through it.

Hey all, I just pulled the engine out of my R33 half cut last night, and I'm wondering what maintenance work I should be doing to the engine while everything is accessable. I plan on replacing the timing belt, rear main seal and some radiator hoses but I know there's probably other stuff that's worth doing so I was wondering if the technical guys could give me some advice about this. Depends on condition and tyres. I'd say somewhere between 500 and 700 in good nick and good tyres, but that's just a guess.

I'm guessing you're Jeff and Bayley's dad , unless there is another Passage/GTS-R brother and sister in WA =P I know Bay v. well as I'm very active in the R31 club, only met Jeff a few times including tonight at the nav run, I wish he'd bring his GTS-R on a cruise some time, I'd love to see it.

I agree whole-heartedly ossie, and you wont have any problems in that respect from us. People that drive dangerously on cruises really shit me. You can have fun without risking lives and property. When I said 'interesting' it was because I often wonder what 'real skyline' drivers think of R31s and R31 drivers, and I got the feeling she might've said that because I'm bringing an R31. No implications meant though, I meant only what I said =)
