im no expert with rbs and engine changes, if i was to learn the basics i would not start with a 26 into a gtst. it just dosnt make sense. what does make sense is what everyone is telling you. rb25, neo if possible. i havnt seen a valid reason as to why you would go agaist this advice. sure what everyone else does should not dictate what you should do but i would atleast expect a valid reason to do something differently especially doing so blindly. now if you had a car and free motor, and had help from a mechanic who isnt telling you to pay him to remove and engine to replace mounts, then sure give it a shot. but whats your upside here? what do you want from the 26 with mass effort and cost > the easy 2wd based RB options? cos its not going to be power budget to budget.
