  1. but if there's no oil in the sump, how are baffles going to help. I guess you mean there is still some, but without baffles it is distributed over the whole sump and hence the level is too low near the pickup?
  2. excuse the ignorance, but what is the connection between shift revs and sump baffles?
  3. My civic went well ... but we ran out of brakes at one stage, and of course didn't bring any spares for the day. So we ran around Goulburn looking for pads. Supercheap didn't have any, but they had ones that were roughly the right size. So we bought those, and an angle grinder, and "made" them fit. :alien: At least we got back out on the track. The old EB2 Civic has IIRC, a T28 running 13psi boost. In a car weighing about 700kg, that means fast!!!!! At its last 1/4mile run at WSID, it got a 12.8. I was lucky enough to have a drive on the day, and oh my god ... that much power was never meant to be put through the front wheels. Especially since he had just blown up the gearbox, and had replaced it with another but without LSD. It was scarrryyyy!!! And because of the short wheelbase, it is twitchy as all hell when braking hard. Pedal placement was a nightmare ... all offset to the left, and for me to reach the pedals comfortably, I had to sit disturbingly close to the wheel ... I guess not a problem for others, but I didn't start off feeling comfortable. Unfortunately, the old civic trashed its diff, so was still at the track when we locked up ... waiting for the tow truck. On another topic, was the green S14 yours Carlo, or a mate of yours? What happened to it?
  4. Thanks Carlo, hope you enjoyed the day. What did you think was "interesting" about scruting? Unfortunately, we didn't get our minimum numbers on the day, so lost about $800. Would be interested in hearing any suggestions on how to get more people along. Not sure whether we can afford to run another one.
  5. Hmmmm ... Duncan, I'm sure that thread says more about Skyline owners than Honda ones.
  6. I think they're all show & dyno cars. Too fragile for racing :uh-huh:
  7. Hehehe. Yep ... that's them. Why do skylines seem to always be on the brakes. It's a bit distracting when you're passing slower cars to have their brake lights always flashing you. At least they're courteous enough to pull over when they see a real car approaching. In case that's not clear ... maybe it's time to refresh yourself with the results: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....05/2003.WAKE.S1 :bahaha: :D (oh god, what have I got myself into?)
  8. Hmmm ... your math has gone awry somewhere. Torque peak was 173 lb ft ... ~ 234 Nm. Still not turbo-like, but nothing to sneeze at.
  9. Who needs a turbo with performance like this: http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-article?...ticle_id=101836 For those that can't be bothered following the link, it's a new ITR engine (4cyl, 2.0L, NA) making 260 WHP with more to come I'm having second thoughts about posting this in the lion's den. Ahhhh ... you only live once
  10. Better than *feared*, but not better than hoped for. We lost around $1500 holding the day.
  11. No ... and I'm pretty dissappointed about that! Too busy collecting money, flagging and all that sort of sh*t. And while I know you're joking Duncan, for the record, my stock ITR (DC2R or old one for the uninitiated) does low 12s with semis (I was hoping to say 11s ... I'm close, but not quite there yet). Of course track conditions play a big part in good times. And they weren't the best on the day (not bad in the arvo, but still cold). How did your race go Duncan?
  12. The weather was very kind ... the whole morning session was wet, with light sprinkling for most of the time. But that gave everyone a chance to play in the rain. The whole of the afternoon was dry ... and the track dried up pretty quickly. Good since we were timing the afternoon. Results can be seen here: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....05/2003.WAKE.S1 A report from one of the entrants, with pics available here: http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?s...&threadid=81618
  13. No probs. Just turn up on the day, and you'll be accepted, as long as there are spots left. I believe we currently have 24 entrants. Not catastrophic, but still lower than desired (35-40). Note that there is a late fee of $10 if you enter on the day. Regards, Richard
  14. Well, we've currently got more than 10, but basically we are paying for the whole day, so we'll use the whole day regardless of how many people we have. Unless of course everyone gets sick of it and wants to go home
  15. Rain or no rain, we'll be going ahead. If it's raining, then you'll at least get some practice of handling your car at the limit in the rain. Hopefully you learn your car & tyre limits in the rain *before* you need it on the road. Given the ability of forecasters to predict weather, I prefer them to predict it will be raining.
