but whats with the heavy steering? would a lock bar get rid of this? why does the steering get heavy.

My friends car is having the same problem. Its an series 1 R33 and when the hicas light comes on, the steering becomes really heavy, as if the power steering is gone. The car has recently been in an accident where the rear suspension was damaged as it slid out into a gutter. It has all been fixed, replaced though. Could this just be fluid or something with the Hicas system itself. No mechanic has so far been able to figure out whats goin on. Anyone recomend a Mechanic good with skylines in the sydney area? cheers

Straight from the inlet manifold to the actuator, and i have teed of that for the boost guage. But it never used to spike, just now

I have had my turbotech boost controller in my car now for about a month with perfect operation. But just recently i have been experiencing boost spike. It used to boost up to 10psi and hold it rock solid. But now it shoots up to 12psi or so and then settles down to 10psi. Do you think the spring is binding up or maybee moisture may be affecting the spring? would spraying WD40 be a good idea or will it stuff it? cheers

got my Turbotech, all in under a week. put it in, no joke only took me 2 adjustments and its now holding at 10psi perfectly.! boost shoots up like a switch and just freezes on 10! 1st gear is a waste now since the revs shoot up so quick im only in 1st for about 1 second! Best mod for under $50 EASY He must be busy as. Never spoke to the guy, never replied to my emails. But paid him and the thing was at my door within a couple of days. Cant complain. smooth

Did he reply back to you, i have been trying to get a response from him since last week, through here and through eBay. I would like to purchase it through here but i do need one soon. I dont care i would order one through ebay if i really had to but if he cant reply to my messages, how is he gonna send the item if i hit "Buy It Now". I would like a reply just for acknowledgement at least.

Thanks dude it makes it now bit clearer. Ok now how close can i get it to stock boost by using this device? im really after the boost comming on harder and earlier rather than running more boost? anyone here running their controller in this fashion? cheers

O ok then. well how would it bring on boost quicker? Im assuming that the ball and spring will "Creep" just like the spring in the wastegate would - causing wastegate creep. sorry bout the questions but im really after something that can retain my standard boost (or as close as possible) but bring boost on quicker.

Hi Ok i have read the last 37 pages over the last couple of days before i start asking questions. Im not understanding 100% how this unit can increase boost AND HOLD IT AT THAT LEVEL. Correct me if i am wrong, but it works like this. 1. Boost will push up on the ball and spring until it overcomes the tension and pushes its way through to the wastegate actuator. 2. By then the boost would of built up past the "Stock" boost setting (which is determined by the wastegate spring) Now the wastegate doesnt see anything until the turbotech opens up. Then all of a sudden it sees (for eg.) 12psi, which is more than enough to open the wastegate as it only has, say a 7psi spring in it. NOW, the wastegate is fully open, wouldnt it keep bypassing exhaust gasses away from the exhaust turbine to bring it back down to 7psi? So really it should hit 12psi but then drop back down to 7psi?????????????????????
