Well - I have my 94 V-Spec2, stock, Grade 5A and 22,000 genuine kms (full service history) insured at 55K and I don't think that's excessive.... Paid 35K at Auction 2.5 years ago..... (Thanks Iron Chef ;-) Glad I got it when I did - not many like it left Might sell it to Yankee land in 2019 Cheers Andreas

As the topic says - tried to renew Vic membership but online system not operational ..... Any idea whether this will be operational soon??

Toyota has a stated goal of 3000 Mirai per year and 30000 Fuel cell cars on the road by 2020...... So yeah - this is real... Whether Australia wants to play in the space remains to be seen....
-
The Hyundai station refuels their ix35 to 350 bar pressure - this is the pressure used for industrial equipment like forklifts. The public vehicle infrastructure will standardise at 700 bar. The Mirai also prefers an electronic handshake to test system integrity which the Hyundai station is missing. The Mirai could theoretically use it but we'd only get half the amount of Hydrogen in the tank and thereby also halving the range. It's a good start but Infrastructure will need to be improved....
-
I wish..... Can't even be refuelled in Australia at the moment - I work for Toyota and we had the car out here for a one tank publicity show.....

View from the dash ? Ps - anyone know how to rotate I-phone picture?

Ok - I am one of the people involved in getting a Toyota Mirai fuel cell vehicle to Australia for the recent World Hydrogen Technology Conference in Sydney and actually got to drive it today ? If you want some good details on where the technology is at - I'd recommend googling the Toyota US Mirai site - it has an excellent introduction to the technology. Suffice to say that I think it's pretty Impressive (335Nm of torque at take off) and just in terms of cost, 5 kg of H2 costs about $50 and gets you about 550 kms......

Who To Go With?
The Baron replied to drwsr89's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I think you'd be pretty safe with either of those. Personally I went with 'Iron Chef' and am happy to recommend their service. good luck with what you seek ;-) Cheers Andreas -
I had to wait till my 40's before I got my dream GT-R. Be proud of the GTST - its a great car and deserves to be recognised as such. We all start somewhere. Have fun with it and heed the advice - "Don't buy a GT-R unless you can afford two"* Cheers andreas * The spelling of 'two' is deliberate ;-)

Butt shaped actually - managed a 180 pirouette while tumbling and making sure I was between the car the metal shelf I was carrying at the time..... Cheers Andreas

Ok - the silly thing: I actually tripped on my garage stairs and fell on to my mint R32 GTR. The damage consists of a shallow 'elbow shaped' dent in the bonnet (size of a 50c piece) and a deflection in the front RH guard which has thrown the attached front RH indicator out of alignment with the headlight by a couple of mm's. (Yes I cried) The advice: Who and where is the best panel shop to get this fixed ?? thanks for any pointers and Cheers Andreas

Short of aftermarket - don't wait for a turbo 86 - will never happen - trust me - I work for the big T Cheers

Well I've got "VSPC2" on mine - so all good with the plates. Looks like a great drive - well done Cheers

From Performance Car To 'normal' Car
The Baron replied to Dani Boi's topic in General Automotive Discussion
My daily commute is about 40 kms each way from the burbs to the City and back. Its on the free/toll way for about 90% of that distance which is usually peak hour bumper to bumper. This is not a drive to work, it is a transport requirement and for this my Camry Hybrid is perfect. I put it in 'D', relax in the comfy seats and put on the stereo as I crawl my 45 minutes or so to work and back in total comfort and audio bliss pulling 6.4 l/100kms. Driving is what happens on the weekend in my R32GTR. The few occasions I take the GTR to work (because its Friday and I'm heading out after work or whatever), the commute is almost painful. Its like riding a thoroughbred to Pony Club...... So for me its Horses for Courses. For transport I choose comfort and economy, for Driving I choose the GTR (which is on limited kilometre Insurance which makes it a bit more affordable) Just my 2c on the issue -
Working in the automotive industry - I can say that wiring looms are complex items and it is often easier to have one loom with empty connectors then different looms for different grades of the same car....... I for one would be surprised if they made a different wiring loom for the N1 - considering that at the point in the line where the cars are modified (no rear windscreen wiper, A/C etc.) the loom would already be in the car. Also it would be virtually impossible to provide a different loom for those N1's were no radio was optioned (comparedf to N1's with radio optioned in). I'd be 99.99% certain the connectors exist. Cheers The not 100% though Baron

I took the steering wheel off (replaced by a demountable Momo with a quick release and lock cover - strictly speaking not legal but excellent theft protection) I am also in the process of organising a replacement gear knob and handbrake cover and longer term looking at a replacement drivers seat and/or seat cover. This will allow me to put most of the original 'wearable' items into storage and will give me the ability to return my car to 'fully stock' if I ever sell (have even kept the little brass boost restrictor which was removed ;-) I am keeping the wheels on as I like them and have no intention of changing them for other rims but am even considering getting a spare rim as 'insurance' for a nasty scrape or similar...... Anyhow - have fun with it - the waiting is the hardest part ;-) Cheers The stock Baron

R33 Gtr Dilemma/ Advice Seeking.
The Baron replied to ibrox90's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Get a daily and enjoy the GTR on the weekend. Just make sure the daily is still a bit of fun (Golf GTI or similar) It's cheaper in the long run, the GTR will keep longer and you'll really enjoy the experience of the drive. Absence makes the heart grow fonder Cheers The Baron
