  1. Camber looks fine for the street, I run almost -3 but I'm not worried about tyre wear. From memory the conventional wisdom is around -3 for the track. Do you have adjustable front uppers..bushes? I dig the way you R looks now, sleeper R....nice
  2. It's a school holiday thing, it comes and goes and also supplies the wasteland with a much needed diet of fail
  3. look Martin I think your missing the point. I'm trying to do a young fella a favour. There is a certain base in Perth that, for quite a while, was littered with new falcodores...slowly rusting away next to the beach. You have to be home to enjoy it mate. I didn't own a car for 18 months, I hired one every time I was home...worked out a cheaper I didn't say he doesn't deserve it, I couldn't give a rats ass if he gets one to be truly honest. My income and lifestyle allow me to have the toys. If I were spending money on a 'Line at a proportional level to your mate I would have a brand new R35 in the drive way...cash In the end your mate will or wont buy one. If he does and he turns up at a members cruise I will greet him like a good friend but as someone who has a bit of life experience I would try and talk him out of it. Just as I have with an other friend who bought one anyway. Buy a house.
  4. yeah maybe but I get tired of those defect threads. Glad to see he has some sense...but with the money the ADF pays a 'Line might not be the right ride. Having said that if he's deployed he wont be driving to far. As for being interested in modding...mmm the bug will bite. I started with a cam belt service and the last thing I bought was a carbon fibre tail shaft lol. If I were to tell you what I've spent on my R and what it is worth resale you'd weep. Most cars are a bad investment, he should buy a house.
  5. No no no no. He will get one and have all the good intentions in the world to look after it. BUT when it goes wrong because he doesn't maintain it properly or does some half assed mod to it and gets defected for either or both he will come on this forum and ask about defects and I'll feel compelled to say. "You deserved it, your not worthy" Glad I could help

    Going To Japan

mmm good and cheap. I stayed in West Shinjuku and that wasn't cheap but when I went through Shibuya I was sure there were some reasonable ones there. Plus its on the Yamanote line which helps a little. One stop away from Harajuku and the Meiji Shrine, a few stops from Akihabara . The Omori factory requires a change to a local train and a short walk...you cant miss it as long as you look out the window. I used trip advisor for hotels...good site. Chiba is no biggie, 35 minutes in a limited express - Dont catch the local lol takes forever, then a monorail ride to the stadium and a short walk to Chrystal, take a copy of the Top Secret address and ask them politely to call a taxi for you. I met Smokeysan at TAS...quite the PR man, I even bought one of those Ski jackets. This is the short version, do a search using the standard terms and then try Tokyo Auto Salon as well. You can struggle with a few words of English but it's good to have a few more. GL. Makudori...I'm planning on going to the Osaka Auto Mess Next year so I'll drop you a line
  7. I worked with a guy who has a 29 Buick, lives in Palmyra...nice car, drives well for what it is technically speaking. Then he went for a ride in the R...lol very different
  8. Mark, I'm back in town in a couple of weeks if you need some adaptors spun up let me know.
  9. Okey dokey JZ6164 I'm not having a go at you mate. Every few weeks I read of yet another defect drama. It's annoying but it's a reality like it or not. Guys like us, the honest hard working Import drivers take the pain for the 18yr old P plater who has watched Fast and Furious too many times then bought a cheap and relatively over powered sh!t box, thrown a wing and a camber kit in it then ploughed it into a stop sign after a gut full of bundy. The media has a part play here. Magazine shows such as CA and Today tonight specialise in fear mongering advertorials. What is important is colour and movement and sensationalism; advertising revenue is king...eyes on screens mean big bucks. Now what would the average 50yr old family man and his wife watch? Some ferry sinking in Africa or a story about "drug fuelled mayhem and how it could come to your street" The story shows some file footage of a few lovely drifts, then they put it to the guberment out of "public interest". The poli's are either portrayed as not caring if they don't react. therefore they lose votes or make some knee jerk "strong on crime" remark and get votes. Then they follow it up with Grant Dorrington and his latest wacky scheme. When Channel 7 sticks a mike in front of politician and asks "what are you doing about hoons" what do you think the politician is going to say??? Offically police target badly moddified or poorly maintained vehicles. Imports are cheap and due to their age and the plethora of second hand and new parts easily moddified in the backyard. This leads to illegal and sometime dangerous mods. Who drives these cheap moddified cars? Young men who are statistically the largest demographic involved in fatal road incidents. Not too many kids can afford a 30K v8 ute...although some can; but there arent too many kids that can moddify a new XR8 in their back yard. The pressure is on because we are an identifiable group and we do ourselves no favours, peeling out of City West or throwing hellis and nuts at a servo for the boys does nothing for our collective rep. We get what we get, perception or reality, manufactured or deserved Each person has a different experience and mine is, I'm not targeted unfairly, maybe your is a different truth. I stand by my statement , "people need to harden the fark up if they want to play the game". Good result on the canary mate Keets
  10. Sticky? I think we need to hardedn the fark up. You modify your car you get attention; expecting plods to have more than a rudimentary knowledge of cars is a mistake.
  11. Given that the Reimax gears are AU$700+ shipping, 410 shipped is great price. I'll take one. Sure beats 2K+ for Tomei
  12. brake whore to titanium whore...oh noes
  13. 58Kg!!! what are you? 12! .JJ I for one may described as a man of "ample carriage" lol
  14. Sure. Abflug diffuser for fitting to standard 32R lip would be nice...comes with undertray.
  15. None of these damn CF GB's ever get off the ground...well none of the ones I look at anywho
  16. Adam, I have the same turbos as you all be it not on a built engine like yours ; both combos are tuned by Ant. If your chasing 450whp just go a little more boost, mine makes 430rwhp all day no probs...yet lol. As for the response; I would go for some smaller cams. Ultimately Johns' step 1 HKS kit looks the way to go...again tuned by the same guy on the same dyno. John is making 100whp more than mine at the same speed with essentially the same turbos, 2530/2860-5. In the end there is always a trade off between response and power...unless you have one of those freaky bespoke Racepace strokers...2.95 combos SR rods on a custom billet crank... ooops edit the capacity of the Racepace. Cheers Steve
  17. We have a dog, his name is fugly...cause he is. Actually, he's not our dog but he sneaks up to the razor wire while we're having beers so we throw food at him. Close enough
  18. Welcome guys. Join the club, come for a cruise, do some AHG training...live the life
  19. On the track, privately owned road or controlled environment of course. Not the fist, go the 'cuda lol......doooooorrriffffftooooo11ty.
  20. That probably wont buff out
  21. lolz " Jim drives the car like he hates it"
  22. As Busty LaRue said...driver training. Plus AHG is a lot of fun. lol Busty La Rue hehehe
