  5. mmmmm In my experience things that seem too good to be true, generally are. There are plenty of nice 33Rs in Au these days anyway.

  7. 1. Develop a good relationship with an honest, reliable, knowledgeable tuner and remember the search button is your friend 2. Probably the type of pads...no big woop. You can get pads to put behind the brake pads to kill that also refer No1 3. Reverse up or go the 45 degree and keep your speed down....or move
  8. I've owned big blocks, rotaries, Oz sixes and nothing comes close to the handling, the revy power delivery, the cost of ...everything, the technical complexity, the use of japlish as a viable language in my home and the cop baiting presence of my R32 GT-R Plus I'm old and i remember watching these things dessimate the field at bathurst...and everywhere else
  9. DS2500 Some dust...meh Some squeeling with light breaking force but that can be fixed easily Decent wear Good from cold No fade, only MC so far, progressive.
  10. Thats right i'm after the drivers window to fit my R32 GT-R. Free of scratches please.
  11. I'm chasing some LMGT4s in silver in 17 x 9 or TE37s maybe or???
  12. I have 2 x 2860 or 2560 or whatever Garretts...(new name Vs old name), Power FC, cam gears (no cams), apexi intakes blah blah blah on an original build, standard slugs and rods. I get a very minor amount of surge but nothing like GTR.2NV is experiencing. I would be getting a power fc anyway, just to get the most out of the combo.
  13. "...Myriad of Wildflowers " Man i'm sold , mmm daytime BBQ access and wildflowers for $6 sounds good. Count me in.
  14. That is the best plan i've seen in this tread... If its road worthy in the eyes of the inspector who cares what the cop thinks, cops ar'nt the final arbitrator of what is road worthy, but if it was'nt road worthy...well, that ones on you. I've had cops look under the hood of my R and from the conversations I could tell they didnt know what they were looking at. If it is neat, secure and looks pro you will have a better chance. Permits...Meh, I dont bother. A mate and I had a convertable with shaved exterior door handles, that had permits up the ying yang and we still go done because there was no reasonable access for emergency crews in case of of an accident. It had no roof for gods sake!!! As for getting a girl to take it over...dont bother, i've had an older mechanic that was known to the inspectors take a big block over once and i still needed a second go. In the end its a game you play with the cop...sometimes you win and sometimes you dont. Dont give him more of an excuse to defect you - be business like - park properly, turn of the doof, get out of your Line and greet the plod, show respect, pull your pants up, get your hat pointed in the right direction and ask "How can i help you officer" it works for me, Good luck
  15. I'm NOR but i'm cool with the Hills or Mandurah. Scarborough sounds good but i'd be a bit worried about the cops getting me confused with some drunken commonwhore knucklehead....how about NOR types meet at City Beach cruise to Cottesloe then Freo and then Mandurah.... Hell i dont care I just want another excuse to drive my R.

  17. I cant remember where I got this but here it is copyright Scott. GTROC Members Secretary. " Working as an Air Induction Designer for 6 years for a few of the worlds automotive companies, (Ford, VW, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Saab, Opel etc.) has given me a good insight into what does and doesn't make a good induction system. I recently removed my air box and after quite a lot of research I decided to go for an M's system. This is just two aluminium adapter funnels, the same as Blitz, with K&N's. My logic behind this decision is as follows: HKS type foam filters allow a lot of dirt to enter the engine, especially if they aren't changed regularly. As they use an open cell foam the dirt particles rattle around in the foam structure, as the air does, and eventually finds a way through. Blitz Mesh filters boast the filter down to 20 microns. I have extensive engine wear data showing that particles down to 3-8 microns actually wear big ends and the rings. Being only a thin filter medium there is no where to trap the dirt and it only takes a little effort to such it through. It may be good for flow, although I seriously doubt this, but you want this power and the engine to last. K&N type oil treated cotton filters do offer better filtration by virtue of the oil sticking and trapping the dirt particles. Our suppliers of air filters have done a lot of work on oil migration to the air flow sensor and have found little proof of this. I know people will claim that theirs was effected by the oil, but as long as the filter isn't soaked in oil, there is little evidence. We only treat ours with only 10-20 grams of oil. So be warned when cleaning yours. The use of oil on a filter can not only improve its efficiency but can also triple the amount of dust it can hold. This is why we only use oil when the vehicle only has room for a small filter and/or works in a dusty environment, (e.g. S/America, Africa etc.). Apexi's cone filter has a combination of all the others virtues with NONE if the down sides. It has the bell mouth and other air flow aids, and the filter medium they use is recognised in our business as the best. It has good flow characteristics as well as exceptional filtration capacity down to the real fine stuff. The only down side for myself as a designer is the fact it 3 times the price of paper, and making 1 million air box's a year we tend to look at price first. But for us as an after market item the expensive price of the filter isn't as important and there is only pennies in it. In my opinion they are the BEST filter on the market. So why did I chooses the M's system. Well not wanting to sound like a tart, but the M's system looked a lot neater and factory fitted look when compared to the Apex'i, and the performance isn't that far behind the either. So for me K&N offered adequate protection as well as aesthetics. All/most aid induction kit should offer lower restriction as long as it is clean and in good order. But there is the problem of under hood heat. As long as the is some baffling and cool air ducted in this shouldn't be an issue. The worst condition is actually when stationary, but this isn't a problem as no power demand is being made on the engine. As soon as you do move off then cool air will purge the system quite quickly. Well I hope this has help in some way clear up some of the misleading quotes and claims these manufactures put out. Just one last nugget of information: at 7500 rpm and standard boost the air filters have to clean 232 litres of air a second and 325 litres at 1 bar, No mean task. Also check out http://www.mkiv.com tech articles" I bought the Apexi power intakes and they work well and are quality....sound great
  18. Clarkson, Capt. Slow and the Hamster...greater than the sum of their parts. Get well Hamster
  19. Yes, the AS for helmets defines it's adherence to construction, materials and design requirements but the AS is not the final say, a competent person, i.e a scrutineer, may decide to knock back the helmet and he/she is the final say. My R terminals at around 120mph at the plex and i know what I would rather have on my head when i'm on the noise. Having said that, budget is always a consideration. But in the end who really wants someone elses manky smell in their helmet.
  20. Dude! Whats your head worth???Buy the best lid you can afford. As for getting it past a scruitineer...You may have trouble with the $30.00 option from a pawn shop Try the bike accessories store opposite maccers in Vic Park, i bought mine there and they had a good range of brands and prices.
  21. W-i-d-e body GTR kits mmmmmm
  22. So much money, so much foolishness. I agree with nxtime and probably everyone else who reads this. 10,000 on a standard RB26 crank...go aftermarket and save yourself the pain.
  23. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=110748 "Australian motor sport legend Peter Brock has been killed in a rally crash in Western Australia, Sky News has quoted WA police as saying. It's understood the crash occurred while Brock was taking part in the Targa West rally in Western Australia. Brock, 61, was driving with Mick Hone in a Daytona Coupe. The circumstances of the accident remain unclear. The Targa West takes place over four days and is divided into two categories, competition and challenge, the latter catering for relatively standard specification road cars. The rally began in Perth on Thursday. Race organisers said an announcement would be made soon. They would confirm only that an accident had taken place." Text copyright ©AAP 2006
  24. Funny you should say that....I know a very knowledgeble guy in Perth who is slowly putting an optcon blower on an RB. No completion date but it will be for towing a race car so we probably wont see its true potential
