Which skyline to buy ...Like any car; its the one you can afford to fix....and insure:P Work out what kind of driving your going to do; be honest with yourself about your limitations and your needs (Big km daily driver Vs Big HP animal weekender) then spend some time searching the threads to find the similar cars and the mods required to make it happen. Hey Tofu Apart from the required GB stuff, i'd like to know.... Are these Wet CF over a FG inner, prepreg CF, vacume bagged or ??? Styles, I'm really after the type in my last post, but what can you get? Hood pins, can they be retro fitted. Are they clear coated (UV stable)? I would like to see a close up photo of the edge of the hood, vents etc. Thanks for putting in the effort

Ant, that vent deal is a worry. What's the fit on your boot lid (?) like. Fit and finish always seems to be the issues I read about "wet" CF/FG panels. If i could get one like this mmm. I'm sure the guy that owns this one is also an SAU member in the U.K. Carmate over east do one similar

Hey ppl Ant: Agreed. I would think that most of the hoods around 1K to 1.5K would be CF over FG, thats why I asked about the weight. But who am I to doubt the man. Nobody mentioned weight but the price was $2K+ for a vacum bagged OEM style hood As for the price of a CF hoods in Jp these guys (http://www.electra-cps.com) sell a prepreg carbon hood (3.2Kg) for about $3,500.au + delivery + tax + insurance + grief ; probably works out close enough to 5K by the time you get it home. Way too rich for my blood. Check out the R32 GTR rear wing though But in the end its all academic, I'm not interested in spending 2K + to save a little weight (comparitively) on a 1500Kg street car. I'm in interested in bringing down the engine bay temp and feeding my pods. Also a little bling never hurt. Go Tofu!

Man...even $700 is cheap. I would expect a full CF hood to be closer to 2K than 1K. Most of the ones i have looked at are fiberglass with a layer of CF to make it look bling. I would be interested depending on design. As for the rearward facing vent I have been told by a certain tuner that he could get me permit, but before i would drop that kind of coin I would want to get it in writing. Any idea of weight? Everyone has different ideas as to what is asthetically groovy so you are going to have your work cut out for you Tofu. Keep us informed

I pose the question " Is the confiscation of a vehicle a proportional penalty". From memory serial offenders in W.A. may "forfeit" their vehilces (correct me if i'm wrong) permanently. Heres a hypothetical Joe Richguy takes his Ferrari, Porsche GT3 whatever out and during a fit of youth turns the tyres...infront of the Police, the Police officer is keen to dispense justice and decides to impound the vehicle. Unfortunately this is not his first offence so the judge decides that Joe looses his $300K car. Where then is the proportional sentencing? A $300K fine for a traffic offence. I know this is a fairly speculative hypothetical but there alot of monied up poeple who have nice cars and one day someone will challenge these stupid and pointless laws. These hoon laws are nothing more than a transparent attempt by state governments to gain votes and satisfy the rage of middle aged Australia, the raged whipped up by the media. The same media conglomerates that own car magazines, screen fazt and furryious 2 and televise V8 super cars. The news media are not in the business of information they are in the business of scaring you.

I've got one and i believe they are still legal...hey dont quote me though. 600 bux and its saved me almost that Multinovas are stricly for raising revenue. There is one on Leach hwy at Rossmoyne occasionally...dead straight road, 3 lanes, its not a black spot!
